I shot this while prepping a shot for an upcoming editorial for Tank magazine.  The finished shot looks nothing like this but I thought this shot of our new office intern was so cute I couldn’t pass up posting it.

    Flying free!
Know what I love about her? The Nike trainers. This is the kind of contrast I’ve come to expect from young women who rock.

How often do we forget as adults the simple pleasures of childhood! It’s such a carefree and fun shot of her! I’m sure she loved it too :)

As a fashion-minded individual (Forgive me, but I’m one or two shades away from loathing the word/term “Fashionista.”), you have to be open to all genres of fashion. Even though all genres may not lend to your individual style, it shouldn’t be far-fetched to appreciate someone else’s portrayal of theirs. Are there ensembles that should never be thought of, much less worn in public? Absolutely! Keeping genres in mind, however, allows me to value the fashion choices in this photograph, from the hair to the sneakers, which speak to her youth and her personality (I mean that in a complimentary way). With all that being said, I couldn’t imagine a more suitable setting for this shot.

I love the idea of a swing on the roof, especially when there’s still a lot of roof in front of it, so no one freaks out when it swings high! Its always funny to me when people talk about the trendiness of wearing Nikes with different kinds of outfits. It might be hot out, but in the boroughs, sneakers are for everybody all the time, and have been for at least a couple of decades, especially if you were born here. Growing up in BK, they mattered, and if you didn’t have the right ones, you’d hear about it, even for girls.
