They are all wearing hats. Not that I dislike hats, I love hats, and I love their hats…but its so consistent that I wish I knew if it was because of the sun, or simply the custom, or luck of the draw. Every single Peruvian pictured in these many photos, including the toddler, is wearing head covering. Surely its more then coincidence?
I’ve only just caught up on these pictures from Peru, and what a treat!
Once again I’m incredibly grateful for these shots; I’ve never had the chance to see that part of the world, as fascinating as it is.
I appreciate your fashion commentary in this series. I hope some eyes are open so that the next time you travel to a “developing” country and take pictures, some can cope with the idea that “poor” people may care about how they look too. They might even have style.
It just goes to show, just because you live very modestly doesnt mean you can’t have a desire for expression , color here is so beautiful and I know about this country. These ppl have such a passion for their life, even with little means and their modest living. I appreciate that you are capturing the real ppl of this country . Cheers!
I think you have done a beautiful job of photographing the beauty of original peruvian fabrics, and people, with the chic modern looks outside of LIF.
So many people (fashionistas) don’t know that many haute couture, and high fashion draws from what many treat as their “simple” every day clothes – which at the end of the day are beautifully laborious pieces, made out of the most impeccable fabrics.
