It is so sad Europeans tolerate such disgusting destruction of property (in the form of graffiti) in their once lovely cities.

It’s funny it is mentioned about the graffiti. Our french cousins say this is a form of art…of expression…and don’t look at as destruction at all. To each his own, I suppose.

i was just thinking before I read the first comment how much I love the graffiti in the background – it somehow seems more real than over-sanitized cities. and i love her look, especially teh bag

I´ m so sorry but graffiti is an identity element in Berlin. Berlin without graffiti will not be Berlin.
And, again, I´m so sorry, but this city, “spangled with dog piles and graffiti all over” it´s one of the most civilized places in the entire world.
Like the lady in the portrait, it´s a matter of relaxed minds.

Being myself a European woman riding bike in a dress or skirt in summertime I feel I must confess here that it is not only an accessory or a way of transport. It is also a refined way of enjoying one´s sexuality without showing a lot of skin or other more vulgar ways. It´s training for a flirt and beginning of a love affair. Especially now when the dresses are shorter and wider againg it is pure pleasure. (When it´s not raining, that is.)

Isn’t she great with that lovely, welcoming smile.
I would love to have a chat and coffee with her.
Again, the black hair and fringe, what we realize to be reprsentative of Berlin women.
The bike, the wide velvet dress, so quaint and somehow comforting; lose the horrible, discordant, electric blue shoes.
THe shoes may be meant as irony but frankly, she doesn’t need it.

Yes, apropos of the comment above re. the tingly, sexual feeling of riding a bike in the Summer wearing a dress; the hidden, oft unexpressed, feelings our clothes give us, is a neglected topic.
Brava for noting this as clothing is so much more subtle and powerful than mere adornment.

love the outfit, but then again blue+black is really all i wear lately *smile*. the tags behind her aren’t graffiti per say, but street art and graffiti rocks in berlin, there are scads of gorgeous, colorful works of art free for everyone to see. love her outfit!

right, it would be so much nicer if New York, for example, looked like a nondescript suburb with identically beige walls all around.
