The black fur and leather coat is to die for!!! I completely agree with Scott – this is an incredibly well put together collection. A Marni girl that grew up and blossomed but stayed true to the Marni palette and shape, just added sophistication.
Coat 1 in fur/green is fabulous and stylish with some flapper fun. Coat 2 really doesn't work with those sleeves. Also that pattern/color is very bad for a pale white person with slacker hair. On a West African it might work well… The white coat number 3 is debutante fabulous. And the black leather/fur is pure sex and style. To which the stunning model does, of course, make a contribution….
Great shot Scott! In regards to the previous Galliano post..I commend you for your "innocent until proven guilty" point..Enjoying how you've been mixing the blog up with various topics lately.
Scott – you are absolutely right. I viewed the runway via internet & it was one of the best yet. I also thought Prada was fabulous. The mix, the quality, the style. I am waiting on Dries as he is a favorite of mine. :>)
I have a hard time appreciating these clothes on those models. They appear as if they were playing dress up and cheapen the look. I think this show would have benefited from having older models.
i, too, thought the Marni collection was outstanding. She really kept the quirky but elevated the elegance to a new level…really made it luxury modern, not just "rich"- no mean feat. like for example, how she takes the 60's shapes that were so written about in Milan, but pulls the proportion out to be a bit more relaxed and "off", flatter, a bit heavier, to my eye. like the shoes. This made it miles from Camelot…and, aren't we? For better or worse?
I guess I have to take yours and fashion critics' word for how good this collection is.
The problem may be that it doesn't translate well into pictures. The shapes and patterns look dowdy instead of chic and luxurious, which is how most peopel describe it.
I do not like those boxy coats. Interestingly, unlike the other collections you featured, you offered commentary here. Did you think it needed defending?

emerald drop earrings..as seen in the first & last photo..
along with the emerald bead necklace in the first photo..
is this a trend?
it adds just enough of a jolt of colour against an otherwise neutral palette.
