Luciano Barbera Preview Fall 2006 – The 18/50

Michal was really excited about the new jacket model, the LBBL 18/50, they were introducing this season. After seeing and trying it on for myself I can see why. Since I cannot take notes nearly as fast as he can talk here is a copy of the press release he sent me about the jacket specifics.

“The LBBL jacket is one of a kind, the craftsmanship is created by knowledgeable and skilled hands in 18 hours and 50 minutes. Its secret ? a forgotten tailoring craft called ?velo?, with the characteristics of the grand tailoring artisans as, for example, the ?pence? extending from the top to the bottom of the jacket. Mr. Sartolalist,
I think it’s time you publish a book on fashion and style.

    I’d buy it.

More pornography for my Barbera fetish. Now that Saks has dropped Berbera, where will the clothing be available in New York? ALso, do you happen to know if this collection’s tailoring is made by Attolini?

Sorry for the number of questions, but… Do you happen to know anything about the trousers? It is my one complaint about Barbera suits, the trousers are awfully full…

I may be alone here, but I have no idea what some of the details you mention are. How about translating some of the Italian? Even better, include detailed and/or close up pics.

Re:mrwynn…where will the clothing be available in New York?

Bergdorf-Goodman has a nice selection. I was also informed that Barney’s was the other official retailer in NYC, however they told me that they don’t sell Barbera. Century 21, not surprisingly, also has a few nice finds (, just don’t tell anybody, it’s my secret).

(Like the whole world isn’t going to read this.)

When I first saw this jacket, knowing very little about menswear, I kind of looked past it. Then when I read your entry on it, I now see it as interesting and even a bit beautiful. If something can be ' a bit beautiful'
