Marc really did an amazing job here, the whole setting is extraordinary, and of course the fashion is too!
Those full skirts look very chic and yet fun and cool. Love it.

    So Pretty, .. Unlike Prada.
I really like this .. So feminine.

Chanel had a similar concept with the Pastel colours.

i don’t know of I’m the only to see it, but i think their legs are very strange… mostly on the first picture. As if she suffers from cold.

Frothy, fantasy, pastels. The models have a little girl lost look about them (emphasised by the fact that most of them have little bruises and blemishes on their legs, possibly enhanced by the colors and lighting). The shoes are killer, though, and seem to act as a reminder that this is not a little girl’s world.

Leave it to LV to bring a carousel onto their runway set.
It’s very refreshing to see them come up with something youthful and fun. It’s very reminiscent of what I would expect from Miu Miu or Prada.

In fact at the beggining I thought that there was a hidden political message about gender violence. Beautiful girls, angels but beaten on the legs. The parts that you would not see as the faces are presentable and perfect. Is this the intention? or just all the girls had hit their legs against something?

Thanks for these great pictures. They are so much more vivid than the ones on Style.com. It’s about time that a photographer of your ability had prime position at the shows.

The lighting is just bringing out the blue tones in the skin on the legs of the models, which is why it looks mottled and bruised. I actually like it – it’s amusing.

These models make a good case for the return of panty-hose. My lord, were they beaten?

This collection also made me think that Marc would be a much better fit to follow Karl at Chanel than to follow Galliano at Dior…

What a great idea, to have a carousel/merry-go-round.

The first thing I noticed, though- is it just me?(ah, just read the comments, I’m far from the first to notice) the models all seemed to have lots of little bruises on their legs…it must be because of the lighting, all that pure white and pastel.

This collection looks so feminine YET comfortable- really adorable
I love those colors, those collars, the floatiness, those shoes, the makeup! Gorgeous.

Must have been magic to see this in real. It is definitely not easy to shoot pale clothes and pale legs in a white decor, even if they’re all gorgeous. The lighting seems to enhance the blue of the legs’ veins and imperfections…

Despite the undeniable beauty in the execution of this show, believe that:

    - carousel is way too reminscent of a previous chanel show
    - a safe selection of looks that did not coincide with rest of the trends
    - a collection that stays classical that lacks the modern twist

    Dior much Mr Jacobs?

Us men think that we are the superior sex but how sadly mistaken we are. You women are the superior sex….how incredibly sexy the famale body, including the super sexy feet. Not only do the clothes compliment these bodies but, most importantly, the shoes accentuate the incredible power and sexiness of the foot. I stand up and applaud all you powerful and down right sexy women. Beautiful collection by Marc!!

I echo the concern over the model’s legs. I suspect this is “normal”, un-retouched, exposure. It pains me to see the one model in a yellow chiffon dress with what looks like a sprained ankle. I wish she had taken the day off, poor thing. But then she wouldn’t have appeared here.

Love that Kate Moss walked again in this show, see her in the second pic in the back. What in the world is everyone talking about the legs?? I had to look very closely. Yes, there appears to be some discoloring on some of the models’ legs, whether from the photography lighting or natural discoloration, why is this such a shock? Pantyhouse would make them look too Steppford-wivey if you want to get all cerebral about it. I like the not too perfect look. Isn’t that what real style is?

  94. Martine

    October 7, 2011 at 11:48 am

I agree with the general consensus and say I love the pointy, pretty shoes! How sexy are their feet!!!!!y toes. Beautiful. They make their legs look even more perfect. And the lovely shade of icy nude is fantastic.

    1. Chanel did this carousel for their FW 2009 show. Like most LV collections – beautiful, but it’s been done before.

    2. These young, thin girls walk the streets and runways of New York, Milan, London and Paris, non-stop for weeks. It is not unusual that their feet/legs would be a mess by the last day of Fashion Week!

As a very pale person myself (I s’pose that should be VPP for short), I can testify to the fact that everything shows on pale skin–every vein, bump, nick & bruise–and the model’s legs look like the legs of someone who, you know, lives life.
And as for the collection, certainly lovely but I’m quite tired of the girly-girl thing.

It is a lovely idea to use a carrousel for a fashion show!
But I find the girls a bit too childish for presenting a nowaday woman!
And they also look a bit unhealthy!
Shouldn’t they consider also some more mature women???
The clothes are beautiful, even so very difficult to wear on a everyday scale; unless one is a princes in a glastower.
But it makes one dream a little and that is very nice, in our so hard world!!!

I THINK FASHION SHOWS ARE A HUGE INVESTMENT FOR DESIGNERS AND I THINK WITH IN 5 YEARS WILL NO LONGER BE AROUND…

I ALSO, THINK THAT MODELS THAT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE UNHAPPY TAKE AWAY FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE ART FORM OF DESIGN…

hmm… pretty but perhaps a bit regressive? it’s hard to imagine a woman getting any serious work done in these prim get-ups.

so beautiful i can’t take it! it’s also funny looking at the models’s legs since there are nicks and bruises, makes me feel happy that they really are REAL PEOPLE! ahah

What an enormous Chanel-vibe the show has. Is Marc sending a job application? Yet to mention the whole show looks absolutely beautiful. The only not so beautiful thing are bruises on models legs. Please select the girls more wisely next time.

Beautiful! The most beautiful collection I’ve seen pictures of this year, along with Blugirl. Love the ladylike colors and shapes. Of course, I am a rather young woman, and I happen to love carousels and horses, so I didn’t feel it was too young, as some commentators did. LV often has a young feel – remember the colored fox-tails hanging off all the purses in 2009?

Amazing photos. Those collars are spectacular. Love the pastels, the shapes. The shoes…they look like they hurt. But an interesting juxtaposition with the light airy colors and shapes of the clothes.

Re the bruises on the model’s legs – are they caused by runways accidents, i.e. falling over due to the ridiculous high heeled shoes? :)

The clothes all have the feeling of Audrey Hepburn. So very delicate. Awfully retro, though. Women wanting to go back to that? Really?

I love it! The pastels colours, the white background, everything! Third outfit captured my heart. Have you seen the white high heels?

It brings back the memories of Simple collection from 2009, where the pastels ruled, mostly pinks and violets though.

Love the colours and the shapes (especially that of the skirts), as well as the ’60s “prim-and-proper” feel of the collection (God knows the ’60s were neither prim nor proper, but they sure looked the part:D), but -for me- the shoes don’t really match with the rest of the ensemble.

ONE THING IS UNDENIABLY TRUE ABOUT MARC JACOB: HIS TALENT OF TELLING THE LOUIS VUITTON STORY WITHOUT REPEATING HIMSELF.

    THE REST IS HERE:

    Oh my gosh, how beautiful!

Pretty, feminine, wearable, so nice to look at – and the while carousel horses make it magical! And the photographs are lovely!

I humbly suggest one small tweak: Might be time for stockings.

Marc Jacobs is the last major show in Paris. If you were working 15 hours a day for a month – most of the time on your feet in shoes that were not mad for you – you would start to look run down too. Trust me the models are all happy and ecstatic to be at Louis Vuitton – they are just a bit weathered from all the work they had to do. You should see how their hair looks and how their skin looks under all the makeup by the end of fashion week – being a model is not easy!

I took a better look at this collection, and on second thought; NO. The skirts are so low on the hips they look like they are about to fall off. How is that “wearable”? Scott took beautiful picture as always. But if you see the collection, you will see that this is one of the worst .

why are their legs horribly bruised? anybody else notice this?

  155. Sylvia

    November 24, 2011 at 2:53 pm

I don’t think the bruises are intentional (though the predominance of high definition cameras may bring nylons back). I personally don’t mind the flaws though. It makes the fashion more real. I get dressed, bump my knee on the coffee table, sigh, then move on. They may be models but they are still human. Fashion is accessible to everyone who wants it. so you have a bruise on your leg, doesn’t mean you can’t rock some couture.
