Can bringing back the original ever be wrong? Will she stay the course or totally surprise us with a new direction?
Could there be anyone better than her at the helm?

As long as the money people don’t meddle with her – wasn’t that the original problem? Both times? Isn’t it usually the problem?

I love her design for Uniqlo. But is it a good idea ? This is not the first time Jil coming back, isn’t it?

I’m so thrilled that she still has the desire to reclaim her iconic brand.
I am a minimalist at heart, and this inclination has never left me, even through the Marni obsessed (remember??) and maximalist aughts! I think minimalism will once again resurface as a very relevant aesthetic in these coming years – esp with Jil’s involvement once again in a major way.
I think Jil is well aware of the incredible success of Raf’s Jil Sander, and I’m inclined to think she will do a masterful job at approaching her brand with both a nod and a respect to what he has built for her, as well as mine her own pre-Raf inspirations for her brand as she begins again. She is who she is, and we shouldn’t denigrate that by insinuating her original vision for the brand is no longer relevant (as some people have done) just b/c Raf happened to be successful with his very different vision for her brand as creative director. There would have been no ‘Raf Simmons for Jil Sander’ if there was never a ‘Jil Sander for Jil Sander’ in the first place. And no matter what your opinion may be to her returning, one would do well to respect that fact. I wish her the very best!!!!

This is the best news ever! Ruby, I completely agree with your comment ” Before there can be a Raf for Jil, there first must be a Jil. Raf has done well but the return of the THE ORIGINAL brings me joy! Thanks for the good news!

fantastic talent, yes. aside from uniqlo there is a great deal of reference here to past work.
raf simons has 7 years of pushing the brand forward, exceptional, unprecedented work every season…it may be her name on the brand but jil is now stepping into someone else’s shoes
wait and see. certainly excited

Hope for her sake that she does well, but it is very hard to come back in anything and especially in fashion. We’ll see but I’m doubtful.

It´s great to hear about her return! I hope she will bring a bit more wearability into the mens collection. That is what her original vision was for the brand, so i hope that will shine through with the design.
