Cafe Le Progres, is it the one in le quartier du Marais ?
Anyway, beautiful portrait in this mix of chocolate shades, the tea pot reflectting this melancholic person’s sweater.

He has that intense, yet sad look that reminds me of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis.

Without the iphone, you can imagine this to be an oil Flemish painting from the 15th century.

So compelling. Such sadness. If I look any longer, I’ll start crying… What’s that thing about being all alone among a lot of people…. This is an amazing capture. You feel it – the noise – and then at the same time, time has stopped for this person… something has happened…. everything has gone quiet. For him, the silence is maddening…

Yes beautiful chiaroscuro like an arty Coppola film. This picture made me long to be in my twenties again, feeling sad and contemplative in an artsy bar… Don’t feel that way any more. And perhaps only the young can look so beautiful while distracted.
