Monsieur Marcel,
I always look forward to your pithy posts! You took me right back to college days. Now it’s on my ipod! Best Cat song!
I think you are a NYer. Trust you have managed through muck ok…FORWARD.
Scott, glad you, G and Alyssa and gang are OK. This post certainly is thoughtful. I remember the origanal posts of most everything you’ve put up so far on “if you’re thinking about”..but under the circumstances, this is the best and happiest!
It’s nice to see something different from the old “I’d like to pose for your photo but I have to take this very important call / smoke this cigarette”-pose.
Hmmm. I like the clothes, but the expressions on the one woman’s face & the other sticking her tongue out seemed to contradict that ‘nice peaceful feeling.’
I really liked the first shirt, until I realized it was incorrect. That letter that looks like an “I” does not actually mean “I” in english, so its just a freestanding letter. It actually reads “Alif <3 Tunisia.
These are two Tunisian Fashion icons . On the right , Tunisian International mode Hanaa Ben Abdesslem , she’s the face of LancĂ´me and Jean Paul Gaultier . Just a quick correction, Youssef. The site is http://Arabia.Style.com rather than http://www.StyleArabia.com. And, yes, she’s definitely one of the most successful fashion editors in the Arab world :)
Hello Scott,
First, I am happy to hear that you muddled through the Sandy event.
Second, could you please emphasize the left message in your post? Those who do not read arabic cannot understand that it means “I love Tunisia” unless they read the comments. It may be more easier for them if you could mention it in the post. I think that it’s a nice message specially nowadays. Thanx for your interesting blog and work.

I normally like this blog, however, I think that thinking about peace as an accessory is sort of problematic. There isn’t anything wrong with making “peace” popular or cool, and in fact, it could of course on a practical level make people more interested in being politically active (if people think it will reflect well on them, make them appear more interesting/exciting). But it also decontextualizes the actual struggle for peace in much of the world, particularly as it is coming from such a place of privilege as the (western) fashion world (at least one of these pictures was taken outside of the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris if I’m not mistaken…). Especially since fashion, no matter how eco/social friendly its production, it is based on a system of exclusion and status.
