Here is the GAP Ad!

So, remember when I was shot for this back in April?

Well, here is the result.

Even though this blog is very personal it feels like it has grown bigger than me.

I used to occasionally post photos of myself, but now I feel much more self-conscious about doing that. However, this is a story that I shared a while ago and this feels like a fitting end on that episode.

Not Bogie; more F. Scott; who with your blondness and features you resemble. That era was the best. My dad was born in 1915 and the photos of him at around 17 yrs. old– wowza. The slicked back hair, the heft of a white shirt that was starched and pressed; the fall of pleated wool pants. It’s all gone, the tailoring and the fabric (and the labor to launder, starch, press, etc. which was a “woman” who came to the house). Okay, I’ll shut it. Keep up the fabulous work.

For some reason I have always found myself cringe at the word “handsome,” but there really is no other way to describe this. I want you to be my prom date.

It’s a beautiful shot. Just goes to show even The Gap can be a pretty classy place when the right person shops there.

This is truly a great ad. I must say, never on this site have you ever come across as self conscious, so don’t worry about that. You seem humble and that’s just one of the things that makes you loveable. Keep up the good work.

You always look tense when you’re photographed; perversely this is the opposite of the defining emotion of your photography – whatever they’re wearing, the people you picture completely possess their style hence their person. However, if only someone had just made you laugh at this moment, I think you’d have achieved your personal style apotheosis: reminiscent of Fred Astaire! Your blog is the only thing in the world which makes me interested in fashion. Good night and good luck.

Sart, baby, you give good tips on dress when you post pictures of yourself…you have to continue posting about yourself since the regulars like the update and the newbies wanna know who the stylish guy is that puts this blog together. You set the bar and you have a clean approach to this work, this blog would feel different with a different author. No, it might be large, but it hums “Scott Schuman”

Mr.Sartorialist: I totally understand, as daily readers we don’t realize that millions read your blog. You should get a counter. Another point…We post comments anonymous, not because we don’t have blogs, its because we don’t want you see how many times we visit and comment. Because we love you so much, we don’t want you to mistake admiration for stalking and go deeper into your shell and become unapprochable. Don’t be surprised when people begin follwing you and asking you for your autograph. What will we do when a major publication or designer takes you and forbid you from walking the streets freely.
People:Pick up a copy of Vanity Fair with Carla Bruni on the cover and you will have a copy of the ad.

I love that you recognize all kinds of styles, and seem to genuinely care about the humanity of the people you shoot, young or old. You are HOT… in an exquisitely classic way. i love the oxford transcends its former self in your oh so capable arms and breathtaking torso.
i wonder, what sublime heaven were you thinking of when the sublime found your eyes in a gaze that transcends centuries? brilliant. i wish they would color in blue eyes to take it to the next level…maybe next months !?

Too bad I could never pull off a scarf like that; the scarf just makes this whole get-up pop.

Hi from Melbourne, Australia. Because of Australia's history, connection with Britian the first person that jumped to mind when I saw your photo was of King Edward viii on his wedding day.,_Duchess_of_Windsor

…same panache and debonair air. He abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson…gave up being King of Engaland!!!

And how did I come across your blog. I was reading Melbourne Street and a guy there named Flyn commented on his 'Reason for his look' was 'I like the Sartorialist' and he is has panche, THE LOOK, so I googled sartorialist and voila!

the link to Flyn. A fan obviously of your blog…from a land down under.

stay inspired so you can inspire others…

The scarf is a nice touch. I wouldnt wear polka dots though.

Very handsome and debonair. This is the best look for a man. I am in my late 20s, and am appalled how so many women like pretty boys now. A classy, masculine, intelligent man is always sexy and timeless. They captured you very well.
