So recently I got a little lost on my bike in the back streets of Milan. Â As I peddled and GPSed (not recommending that) I rolled by the fantastic new mens shoe store Artisanal. Â Lidia Pellecchia (pictured) has pulled together a great selection of Edward Green and mixed it with lesser known brands such as Saskia Wittmer, La Calzoleria di Max e Gio, Hidetaka Fukay, Antionio Aglietti, and Alfredo Rivetti.![]()

If you’re in Milan, you can find the shop at via Santa Marta, 15.

I love how men’s shoes always seems to recognize and acknowledge craftsmanship and materials. I think women’s shoes tend to underestimate these aspects. I love the smell of leather when you buy new shoes, I think these kind of details are important.
Tonia
October 18, 2012 at 3:44 pm
Very true. Most women’s shoe designers tend to overlook those fine quality-focused details (e.g., great leather) and concentrate primarily on the aesthetics (and certainly not on comfort).

Being a self-confessed shoe obsessor; This is right up my street! In Australia there is a serious shortage of amazing mens footwear. I design mens shoes and have used various couture finishes like double faced sequins, embroidered sack-cloth and sheared lama wool because I felt that there were no ĂŻnteresting shoes out there for men but these pictures have shown me that you don’t have to be outrageous to stand out. These shoes are so classic but amazingly beautiful. Thanks for posting these pictures Scott!

These shoes, And the way in which you have photographed them, look a work of art. One has the urge to reach out to touch them and own them. In my dream world, I (as a woman) I could walk into This very store And say “I’ll take a pair of those in a womans 38 please”.

I know the shop. It’s exquisite! A real gem. There are shoes, entirely custom made by a japanese guy , of incredible quality and outstanding design (not shown in the pictures, unfortunately, do not know why..) Then the neapolitan ties are collector’s items. The owner is elegant, charming, sexy.. She makes the buy a pleasure.
Definitely for connoisseurs.

Schott! I would like to thank you personally for this post. As a sophisticated man, my opinion is that for mature costumers like me and various Italians it’s not more exciting to buy in conventional shopping streets. When I travel too I love to lose my way in cool districts where you can feel the traditions, the authenticity, the beauty…this is what you luckily found in the back streets of Milan…All is “uncontaminated” the lovely woman, the store, the shoes! thanks again
