I finally had to give in and try a pair of Common Projects sneakers.  Now look at the mess I’ve gotten myself into!

The colors and textures are great, they are super comfortable and they wear like iron.  They are a little heavy for a summer sneaker, but as soon as the thermometer hits below 70, they are my first choice.

Common Projects in my opinion makes some of the best sneakers, I have had mine for over five years and they still look great. The fit and feel only get better with age

Nice pic! But what is the difference between these and Superga’s?

    • Brah

      September 2, 2013 at 12:02 pm

Superior construction. Thick sole. Minimal branding. And they apparently last long.

    August 31, 2013 at 10:08 am

This shoe has the same silhouette as the Adidas Stan Smith and Rod Laver, and both are of better value than these.

    • Yo

      September 2, 2013 at 12:08 pm

Stan Smiths are no longer in production, and Rod Laver’s can rarely be found with no branding and a solid color scheme. By “better value” you just mean they’re cheaper. But are they better sneakers?

        September 3, 2013 at 10:18 am

I’ve tried to post this reply before, and I do know what happened, because it wasn’t posted, but the Adidas Stan Smith is in production, as is the Rod Laver as well, of which has never had any branding. The shoe pictured in this article is way too pricey for what you are actually getting. However, that seems to not matter for those who are that into fashion.

I buy rod lavers whenever I can get my hand on them. They are of superior comfort, I can’t walk in my common projects for long they’re so uncomfortable. Makes sense considering adidas make shoes with performance as first priority. Whether they last longer I can’t say, but then again you get 3-4 pairs of rod lavers for the price of these. Though they are beautiful.

I’m fan of Vans. They have custom shoe design options. It takes at least 8 weeks to get them, but it’s worth it to have personalized sneakers.

Can’t join the love-fest for Common Project trainers. Nice profile, but notoriously uncomfortable with a weird tapering towards the toebox and loose, slippy-as-hell heels. Margom sole is flat and firm which I normally prefer, but it feels pretty meh. Fit just seems totally off to me, and last time I checked I don’t have mutant feet.

Looking for a pair of Margiela GATs as an alternative.
