The best part of Mr. Gwathmey’s jacket, which I didn’t notice until the last second, was the very deep double back vents. So elegant. Back in the 30′s or 40′s, this was the kinda guy that Equire magazine would sketch as “Seen in New York”.

He looks great, all is put together well, shoes, pants, jacket and that big ‘ol scarf…seems to be the look at the moment, for both the young and mature.

Does not it he look a bit too dull colorwise? This gray-dark blue-napoli yellow palette seems to cold. Also, I don’t really get the feat that is the deep vent. How, in what way does it contribute to beauty?

The deep vents are a detail I just haven’t seen much of lately so it really stoodout to my eye.

Sartorialist, you’re right about the deep vents, although I have been seeing more and more of them lately in lines like Richard James and Etro. Aside from the added “dandy-ish” effect, the vents are contemporary in a traditional kind of way. Almost retro, if you will…
