Honestly, to me the ruffle thing could please pass away now. Ok, when it is well done, it can create a certain tension between sweet forms and edgy, hard materials and colours. But I think it shouldnt be overly exploited.
so interesting to see fall colors for a spring and summer collection! next year will be very bold! Love the black dress with the white details on the skirt and the bold red dress. http://liveitinerantly.com
I love the amount of detailing on these dresses, and would wear the whole collection. I think the turn away from overt and sometimes flashy sexuality is interesting. These are the equivalent of menswear, in a way, in that you could wear them season after season. The colors are ravishing.
BV is clearly working from the same set of core ideas as JW Anderson–fabric manipulation and body-framing via draping, folding, gathering, asymmetricality, seaming, etc–but these looks actually work. They are (mostly) both conceptually interesting and aesthetically pleasing, and they appear to be beautifully constructed. (That green jacket-and-shorts thing, unfortunately, is awful.)
In response to M.’s comment above: I consider myself at least reasonably sane, and I think that the brown dress is lovely.
