I know this is a LONG, long shot, but I’m going to make a pitch for Baltimore. Baltimore?!? Yes, Baltimore. Fashion-wise there is a totally strange and wonderful mix of things happening here.

1. Beautiful, strange and often bawdy outfits emerge from both East and West Baltimore. Straight up poverty and lack of access to big brand names result in some seriously creative combinations.
2. RISD art students who graduate and can’t afford to move to Brooklyn or DC instead take up residence in Baltimore neighborhoods where studio space is cheap and plentiful and they remain immune to big-city trends.
3. The elephant in the room/city is the dominating presence of nerdy, fashionless medical/science types association with Johns Hopkins. They hide their sartorial deficiencies under long white coats and would benefit enormously from your presence.
4. The “Hon” thing. Think John Waters and pink flamingos and Hairspray and retro-chic polyester galore. Working-class Baltimore has always taken great pride in it’s appearance for better or worse.

Of course, most of the sartorialistas of Baltimore are accustomed to being looked over and would gladly make the trip to DC if you signed there instead. We understand. :)

In fact the two of you may never return to NYC,,,like me…once you feast your eyes on this improbably beautiful spot. This glorious, most remote little land mass on earth! Every powerful country on earth tried to claim her for her wonders and beauty..but only the US, succeeded. Mark twain called it the most beautiful place on earth. And our esteemed President, when asked recently what he would do if he could ever have one more day as an anonymous citizen, he quickly and dreamily said “take the wonderful coastal drive fromHonolulu out to Hanuma Bay for a full, uninterupted day of body surfing”!

I’m sure the classy Neiman Marus at the famous Ala Moana Shopping Center (built in the 50′s,the worlds’ first, most beautiful shopping center) would be delighted to host you.

And then you’ll take the 20 nimute flight to Kauai, a little island from which you may never return, becuase you will be too busy taking exquisite photos, climbing improbable mountains, snorkeling and taking underwater shots of creatures whose colors and forms are other wordly. And reveling in the great cultural diversity of people, food and Fashion/Street style Many don’t return. You’ll have to come for yourself to see why!

The water is crystal clear blue, and warm and waiting for you and Garance!

AND..it IS a domestic flight!

Oh please come to Denver. There is a very cozy book store called “Tattered Cover” Downtown Denver. It has a vintage feel to it with old wooden stairs and high ceilings. The shelves are sometimes a bit crooked, and you can see the aging of wood – oh, it’s pure bliss to sink in one of the couches on a cold winter day with an oversized cup of coffee and a Hemingway.

BILBAO! you can take some photos at Guggenheim Museum… I am silly fan of Frank Ghery and this is “his” top top building, imagine the colors and the shadows, all kind of lights…. I can help you if you need

I’m not going to beg, like everyone else that you come to my city, however, the street style in Portland, Oregon, is pretty awesome. As is Powell Books. One other thing: Powell’s has an amazing fashion, art and photography collection. So what do you say, Scott?
