The layering, the rich colors, the subtly patterned suits, the slim but not tight silhouette – Bottega Veneta was easily the strongest show of the Milan season.
In Paris Junya was fantastic, I’ll post those shots tomorrow.
Overall the shows this season have been less than stellar. Have you seen any shows that you love?

I love the flip of the small lapel; it transforms the suit into a totally different-looking outergarment.
And the multiple button-downs sort of "opening" at the bottom looks like some kind of odd, abstract idea that look so, so right when done. Totally works. This is perfect.

I feel with apparel, everything under the sun has been done.
Its really hard for designers to really nail stuff without trying too hard.
Not to sound cliche, but "timeless" "classics" (big buzz words) are always going to be the best.

Well I saw pictures from the Louis Vuitton show in Paris and liked it a lot. I loved the "rich" black color of the clothes as well as the fact that they were so elegant, yet simple. The orange they used also was ok, if used only for one item (jacket). The combination blazer/sleeveless quilted jacket was interesting.

I really liked Walter Van Birkenstocks (or however its spelt!) and Adam Kimmel…both for use of colour and show casting. I was really disappointed by Burberry Prorsum and McQueen menswear. Both just the usual Milan luxury brand/King of the Castle nonsense but with a slight/uninspired twist. And as for Galliano and Givenchy menswear…dont get me started!!!

i'm liking the take on shirt vs jacket length..the longer shirt..last button left open (perhaps deliberately, perhaps just a aesthetically perfect mistake)..with the slim, perfectly cut jacket. but would it work on a 'regular person'..risk of looking a tad sloppy? having said that…slim belt at the waist. supremely elegant. and fresh.

I generally much prefer your on-the-street shots, but I can see why you love this collection. These clothes are _elegant_ and could easily fit into a stylish person's (as opposed to a fashionista's) wardrobe: they begin with classic, clean cuts and add interest with saturated color, rich but subtle textures, and small variations on generic conventions (e.g. lapel size). Nothing's fussy or precious, and it looks like the jackets could be tailored to work on more than one body type.
I could see someone wearing that wonderful midnight blue jacket for the next 20 years. These are clothes for people with _style_.

Awesome show. Maier always finds that perfect harmony between relaxed and considered, always so much more successful in his mens collections to me.
