Balenciaga, Fall 2006 – Hard To Beat

There are still some heavy hitters left (Rochas, Lanvin, Vuitton, McQueen, Dries) but unless they have incredibly spectacular shows (even higher than their usual high standards) it is going to be hard to beat Balenciaga this season.

References to the past without feeling retro, a perfect balance between the design aesthetics of Cristobal and Nicolas and feeling both extremely refined while street-ready at the same time – Balenciaga kept me riveted with every look.

ps Gaultier looked better than he had for a while but JPG please edit, edit, edit. If he would have shown the best 28 looks, instead of 6oish, the show would have had so much more impact.

I agree. And I guess this collection is going to be sold out.

it was just amazing! i have so much respect for Nic G. seeing as he has the abilit to put out beautiful collection after beautiful collection without becomeing redundant or broing
on the contrary, this clothes are always modern and use elements from the past is a forward thinking manner
i always love the amazing juxtaposition he creates with the clothes and the shoes which this seaons were just TO DIE FOR!

After the big spread in the current Vogue, these are welcome images. Looks like the House of B is back.

Every year JPGaultier gets more and more conservative. I know it works for Hermes, but it does not for an enfant terrible’s brand.
I still expect more from JPG.

Nice stuff. It reminds me of the stewardesses in 2001.
