I’d suggest going “Made To Measure”, it’s a little more expensive than off the rack, but if you need a lot of tailoring it might balance out, and the suit will be properly proportioned.
Mr. Lauren has a (rather expensive) MTM program, as does Brooks Brothers (as far a walk-in stores). Hickey Freeman is a little more expensive (but better construction) and from our friends in the Great White North there is my favorite Samuelsohn.
Their websites would be at the usual place.
Good luck Billy Oblivion.
p.s. sometimes you can find a good tailor if you keep asking around. Especially if you keep asking about having a suit custom made.
Goodness, we’ve all become so sartorially educated that we demand that cuff!I must say I thought the same thing and perhaps it should show, but doesn’t this guy look impeccably tailored, not a stitch out of place?! So I’ll forgive him, but just this once, I still want to be a member of this blog after all.
Wonderful look! So elegant! Two parts of this make it for me. First, the shirt has a perfect roll in the collar. You don’t see any shirt above the tie. The collar just rolls out to either side of the tie. This looks neat and cool and very European. Most shirts don’t fit this well and you often see a space and extra fabric above the tie. Second, you see the opening between his left arm and his middle in the way his jacket is tailored. The “pinch” is perfect. What a fit. If you have this nice a shape, show it off, boy!
