That guy needs a mustache trim but his rings are awesome. These people all look very fun and free-spirited, their looks remind me of a 90s take on hippie-style.

I am really loving these flea market shots. One of the most inspiring and captivating posts I've seen in a while… kind of a relief from all the put-together New Yorkers I see everywhere around me.

I'm curious to know why all of the flea market vintage-style clothing is very 'western'…the hats, the plaid, the denim….
BTW I love that guys rings!

Don't you just love how the japanese women can hold up a pair of pants around their neck and know if it will fit someone in their family? LOL It's like they have mental measure tape around their neck and they know each person in their family how far past that they need to go.

I was in one of these fleamarkets recently here in Tokyo. I must say it was one of the most interesting things to do. These photos demonstrate perfectly how it is. Fun, laid-back and stylish!

Love the Tokyo pics, such fun people seem to have getting dressed over there.

I was just looking at the pics from The Uniform Project which have a similar playful spirit I think. Have you heard of the project? A girl has raised about 60,000 so far for schools in India after pledging to wear the same dress for a year. BUT the twist is she uses awesome accessories and clothing combos to turn the simple grey dress into a million (well I guess 365 to be precise) looks.

There's a cool video that flashes through all the looks at http://vimeo.com/11113046 if you're interested. Now I'm off to play with my little grey dress!

This is Rei from Comme des Garcons right? I mean, that's fantastic that's she's shopping at a flea market. I recently read how she's done with black as a colour because it isn't that new anymore, and I can see from her outfits that she is into vintage now.

Those were some interesting pictures! I also like how you captured the fashion aspect by showing us all the different ways they dress. One thing I noticed was that not too many people overseas wear suits or tuxedos unless it is a special occasion. At http://www.threadedapparel.com, they are offering a 10% discount if you use the discount code "bestdeals" when checking out. All kinds of apparel for great prices!

i love the turquoise rings! the navajo jewelry has been spotted all over japan, and in your prior photo of the man in shades of all white. i love them!!

    April 29, 2010 at 3:06 pm

The very last picture is great with the red, white, blue, brown, black, and green. The pairing of the blue and white seem very classic to me. With the handkerchief in the back right pocket with the red and black print contrasts very well with the solids of the shirt and pants. It is also able to match the print of the backpack while still be a very strong contrasting element.
