Don't you just love how the japanese women can hold up a pair of pants around their neck and know if it will fit someone in their family? LOL It's like they have mental measure tape around their neck and they know each person in their family how far past that they need to go.
i totally love the man with the rings in the second photo! also like the woman with the dog and the striped top. japanese are so creative when it comes to fashion! i was in tokyo a couple of years ago and it was amazing just to walk around Harajuku.
Your pictures are known for capturing style, but I think you do a wonderful job of taking portraits of people. Life and personality just pop out of your pictures! I love your pictures from other countries!
All these photos from Japan are soooo great. The style there is truly unique, and the way the japanese people create looks and style themselves is unlike any other people. I wanna go to the flea there bad.
These must be THE best posts you ever did Scott ! I just love the atmosphere at fleamarkets. The vibrance – the YAY feeling when you find that little treasure nobody saw before you ! You've captured this extremely well !
Love the Tokyo pics, such fun people seem to have getting dressed over there.
I was just looking at the pics from The Uniform Project which have a similar playful spirit I think. Have you heard of the project? A girl has raised about 60,000 so far for schools in India after pledging to wear the same dress for a year. BUT the twist is she uses awesome accessories and clothing combos to turn the simple grey dress into a million (well I guess 365 to be precise) looks.
There's a cool video that flashes through all the looks at http://vimeo.com/11113046 if you're interested. Now I'm off to play with my little grey dress!
This is Rei from Comme des Garcons right? I mean, that's fantastic that's she's shopping at a flea market. I recently read how she's done with black as a colour because it isn't that new anymore, and I can see from her outfits that she is into vintage now.
Those were some interesting pictures! I also like how you captured the fashion aspect by showing us all the different ways they dress. One thing I noticed was that not too many people overseas wear suits or tuxedos unless it is a special occasion. At http://www.threadedapparel.com, they are offering a 10% discount if you use the discount code "bestdeals" when checking out. All kinds of apparel for great prices!
The flea market pictures are fabulous. The colours, the styles on everyone…Especially liking the picture of the guy with the blue hat and turquoise ring. Very snappy! snappy x http://www.snappylifestyle.blogspot.com
The very last picture is great with the red, white, blue, brown, black, and green. The pairing of the blue and white seem very classic to me. With the handkerchief in the back right pocket with the red and black print contrasts very well with the solids of the shirt and pants. It is also able to match the print of the backpack while still be a very strong contrasting element.
this flea market series has been one of my favorites out of the ones you post! i've never been to this flea market, but all the same i feel the atmosphere, the people (in addition to the clothing element… all about context)… wonderful work.
