How much I'd love to attend such a college! I would be so much fun! And so good and funny that they also have to work on those miniature dress forms. As a kid I so badly wanted to be a fashion designer. Great photos! Best, Agnes

Isn't Bunka wonderful? I had the great luck to visit during their Summer open house last year. Not to minimize the skill of the western couture houses, but I truly believe that some of the work that comes out of Bunka Fukusou Gakuin is better-designed and more VISIONARY than what we see on the runways. Did you visit their 3D body scan facility? Fascinating stuff.
A long time ago I had the fortune to visit Japan, Kyoto to be exact, and the fashion is so wonderful there. Although I am a regular size 6 in North America, I had trouble finding fashion to fit though. They are tiny.
Great great pictures! I particularly love pic#2 and 3. I would love to go to such school even though I've already graduated from a business/literature school!
Beautiful shots! And, the girl in glasses look super cool. Isn't it amazing how the right pair of glasses can add so much character and attitude to ones look? Loving it!
I love this post! Bunka is upposed to have the best textbooks for sewing, (they do them in English too)-and are understandable for home sewers. I wish I had some… soon soon I will get to Japan I promise!
One thing that makes fashion so special and unique is the individual, hands-on creativity. The cutting and sewing and handling of fabric. It's great to see some of this aspect of it here (and from Japan!).
i love this blog called MOTHER magazine! more cool images and japanese artists. this blog is pretty amazing. good work. http://mother-magazine.com/blog/
Sabine: It's because she probably has a cold or something. In lots of areas in Japan (but especially Tokyo, where it's very crowded), if you are sick you wear a face mask so you don't spread your germs to others.
They range anywhere from the plain one featured on this girl to pretty elaborate affairs. Considering all the times I've experienced colds and flu spread like wildfire in the workplace, it's a trend that I really wish would catch on over here in the States.
great photos….i love the dedication and seriousness of fashion students -nowhere more calming or intense than a fashion atelier. If only everyone found so much self realisation and fulfilment in what they study…
I have been visiting various blogs for my dissertation research. I have found your blog to be quite useful. Keep updating your blog with valuable information… Regards
I always wanted to go to a fashion college in Tokyo because I know that I will learn a lot of amazing knowledge about fashion in that place. I really love the fashion style of Japanese.
