That’s very funny, anonymous 6.27 -I immediately thought of George Grosz too! I love this man, and the lady above too, they both look like they are in the prime of their lives, and enjoying it. Inspiring. Their outfits are perfect too.
Arny’s… I miss that store. I came across it by accident one day when I got lost in Paris. I bought a hat and admired the clothes. Great place. Very unique style, too. I remember that I had never before seen lapels like those on their suits.
What do you all think of the turnup cuffs? Too wide? Or just cool? I’m also interested in how this clearly wide gentleman manages to combine a loose fitting upper leg – apparently with a flat front – with such a nicely tapered and slim lower leg without giving the whole thing either a “rapper pant” appearance or a carrot-like shape. Sart, others – any ideas?
I remember this man! What does/did he do? I love the slanted besom pockets and the grey-yellow scheme. But most of all I have to commend this man for his impeccable (properly cared for) shoes. They finish the line of the leg perfectly. Simply impeccable.
WHEN I VISITED ARNY’S LAST APRIL MICHEL GRIMBERT HIMSELF WAITED ON ME. HE WAS MOST PLEASANT AND WAS SARTORIALLY RESPLENDENT, IN A CONSERVATIVE VESTED SUIT. I WISH THE DOLLAR WAS NOT SO WEAK AS I’D LIKE TO RETURN TO ARNY’S BUT IT LOOKS LIKE I’LL HAVE A LONG WAIT.
The tailoring on that suit is amazing. It’s sad really how no one looks like that anymore, with such perfectly proportioned clothes and such a put-together look. Well, at least we know it isn’t lost entirely!
