Tom Browne has conquered Paris. He may have bought TB at Colette. Last time I was there a gaggle of fashionistas were oohing and aahing at his wares. I’m missing the scarf though, that finishing touch, you know.
No, no, no. This just does not look right. The trousers are too short and the jacket does not fit correctly to me. The coat is very nice, and the overall color scheme is complementary, but the fit is all wrong.
What an extraordinary looking character Who is he? and WHY? I feel as I should buy him a suit that fits! Don’t know why this is bringing out mother in me! But it does look as if he’s in his school uniform and has just been caught behind the bike sheds smoking a cigarette Stop stop stop I’m becoming obsessed…
Paul Reubens played this joke twenty years ago, and it’s still hilarious. That is the intended effect, right? If not, just lengthen all the garments one and a half to two inches, add a white oxford cloth button down and a skinny black knit tie, and you’ve got a fair rendition of 1950s hip, a good look even now.
Tom Browne has been making a stealth attack on the hemlines of men’s pants for awhile now, and I found it amusing. I find it hard to believe it will catch on — men are far less susceptible to being fashion victims than women, and this man definitely looks like a victim.
With his hollow cheeks and somber expression, he looks like somebody tossed him the next random suit in the pile just before he walked out of the prison door. Or perhaps a better analogy is an 8th grade boy wearing his communion suit to grammar school graduation.
I know the guys are looking for something else to wear, and there are other breakout men’s fashions that I can see — definitely kilts/skirts, and shall we have knee breeches again?, but these chopped off pants look so awkward. There just isn’t anything about the line that is attractive. Maybe boys will be boys, but I suspect the women will look at someone dressed like that and see an overgrown juvenile.
S’cuse me. There are so many negative people here, everyone is entitlet to an opinion, I know, but try at least to be a bit open minded. I would love to have seen this guy passing me on the street. He is different, his suit fits different, and its fun. No one is forcing anyone to wear pants like these. This is just a guy that brings some color to our very grey shadish pallette of life. Rock on you cool dude! Ps. I wished you had more elegant shoes, slimmer ones..
He has borrowed the look from jean Reno in the Hollywood remake of “The Professional”. If not reno, then the style owes much to Disney’s Goofey and the vacuum cleaner salesman cat from an episode of Tom & Jerry….or wait, it’s Tin Tin all grown up
Probably one of the most influential men in fashion and the best dressed straight man in fashion by a country mile. Only those of you obsessed with petty and archaic fashion ‘rules’ would slight his style. He is a true fashion leader and thank god for that. We have enough badly dressed conformists.
Seriously, can the “jacket too small, pants too short” stop, please? The size and length were active choices made by him, so they are per definition NOT too short. They are in fact as intended, and therefore just how they should be.
I like this look, especially with the white t-shirt. I just wish that people would stop screaming “Thom Browne!!” just because someone has short pants. This does not look like Browne.
Why is it that women get away with playing with fashion all time, ex. hem length on pants, jacket lengths, colors, and not one word is said about them. But when a man challenges the accepted, conservative sensibilities of clothes, he is called many unfavorable things. Mental patient, cartoon character, etc. Comment on the clothes, not the person.
I applaud his bravery. I wish I have it. Oh by the way, Thom Browne does not own short pants. Everyone in the fifties and sixties dressed like him. Way to go!
Unique, perhaps. I too would be ‘uniquely’ attired, were I to leave the house wearing underwear outside the pants, as recommended by Woody Allen in the film ‘Bananas’. The question is does it look nice? No. Men’s clothes should be more rooted in tradition than women’s – whose styles have been guided by exisitng social mores and are deisgned to attract the attention of men (let’s face it). Thom Browne, acclaimed for this cartoonish style and for supposeldy ‘saving the suit’ looks a tad ridiculous and no matter how fashionable a trend he sets (or even how stylish – for he does have a style, the style of the set from the toons in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’), he cannot be said to be elegant and suggests something ‘latent’….I’m thinking closet doors being tightly shut for fears of being suddenly opened.
I like the look. If one loves classic style, this man is the least of your worries. Worry more about the hoodies, the dockers, the white socks, the running shoes worn every day, every where, on so many other men.
David is one of the most stylish guys ever. He has been wearing his short pants for years and years. Well before Thom Browne even picked up his tailors shears. A fantastic man with a Paul Newman sexy edge…… ICONIC.
