This is a beautiful image and yours is a delightful blog. I’ve often pondered the same about the Prada dominance (I believe it’s in the October archives?) and its sneaky dismantling of its competition. Glad I’m not alone.
This shot reminds me of a girl in my grade, she has the same body language as the man. Always got this look in her face and yeah she is alone in the crowd, just like the man in the shot. Amazing shot. I am amazed by the way you have captured the body language of that man in a single shot.
I’m always amazed at how a talented photographer such as yourself, manages to capture a frame like this without first drawing attention to himself or making the subject of the photo aware, and therefore self-conscious, that the shot is being taken. A heartbreaking photo indeed.
This shot is brilliant. It feels cold and desperate, and I love that. I check everyday for your newest fashion photos and eat them up with a spoon, but I find that you have such a delicious talent for candid portrait photography as well. How do you get people to allow you to take their pictures without them posing? I am always trying to improve my candid shots, but find that people are terrified to allow me to photograph them. They always either freeze up and look unnatural, or immediately strike their typical pose rather than being themselves. It’s really discouraging. You have so many close candid shots of people that I can’t believe they didn’t see you. Do you ask them for permission first? Do you give them directions so they know what you want?
I rarely come across a photograph that really touches me…this most definitely has. It is spectacular & devastating. The feelings evoked by looking @ this are of pure sadness he is huddled and looks so frail. You cant help by being absolutely heartbroken by just glancing @ this photo.
After reading (or I guess mostly looking) through your book, I am delighted to go every morning on your website. This picture shows so much of not only a man's outer style, but his internal persona as well. You've told a man's life story in the blink of an eye(or camera shutter) Bravo!
Wow, i had to stop and comment on this one. Absolutely touching photography. I would blow it up and frame it in my house if it i could get a clearness to it. This is so thought provoking and sad! True art
