SHE IS SO PRETTY AND HER SENSE OF FASHION IS SO RIGHT ON!!!!!
I HOPE YOU REALLY LOVE AND CHERISH HER, AND THAT YOU FEEL HER LOVE FOR YOU… I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PHOTO SERIES OF YOUR WEDDING ONE DAY HERE??
Love that top outfit–I’m a sucker for long casual skirts that make the wearer look chic, since for too long that style of skirt was owned by frumpy, religious conservative types. I think the accessories also help–the fedora, animal print bag and funky flats are a great, unexpected way to look dolled up.
She does have an Annie hall thing goin! I love the brogues and the streaker coat. Its a very understated sexy. Well done. And wonderfully alive pictures. You two make a great team.
I love the series, and love Garance, but I don’t think the 3rd photo is so great that it deserves being posted here being out of focus.
Photo no 2 is so wonderful it could become a poster! Like one of those Robert Doisenau famous Paris photos. It is is simply timeless.
I am very impressed with her ability to take beautiful steady photographs while also carrying equally beautiful RIDICULOUSLY HUGE BAGS.
I feel like whenever I attempt that particular maneuver, (usually I am sketching, rather than photo taking) the huge beautiful bag slides down my arm into my furiously scribbling hand when I am least expecting it, and BAM sketch ruined! Really angry jagged line among all the clean fluid ones! and then I have to awkwardly juggle, usually stuffing said bag unceremoniously in my armpit or pavement, and hastily erase.
Again, mad props to her amazing balance/coordination :)
How wonderful are these!!! Garance looks like she has been styled for a Hollywood movie.
Now, there is an idea for a great movie…….Garance Goes To Hollywood……..
I LOVE this serie. Somehow it makes the persons more approachable.
Though I´m far from this stylish I feel like I could be one of these girls.
If you know what I mean.
They are for real.
And thank you for showing the beautiful side of the world!
HURRAH! A woman wearing flat shoes and not those idiotic skyscraper heels that often seem to feature in your photos (which I love nevertheless). I suppose serious fashion types never run for a bus – that would just be wrong in so many ways…
Photographers always have very nice postures when taking photos! ;-) My friends and family always tell me the same! I take photos in very curious positions!
Garance’s style rules — totally wearable, but very creative and individual. And those monk-straps are awesome! I am on my way to Church’s… What’s most striking compared to the other photographers is how super-focused she is — not letting herself be distracted, or trying to look pretty while shooting. I found these photos the most intriguing of the series. I always wonder what those on the other side of the lens look like. I could’t help but to desperately want to see their faces.
Am LOVING this series. Pretty as Garance may be, don’t you think “All the stylish photographers” might be a better title for this post as you can hardly see her pretty face at all. She is one stylish lady. On trend but no fashion victim.
She is beautiful and I love her hats but sometimes it looks like she forgot her pants. And other times she looks a little sherlock holmes-ish? But I love her hair and I usually love her clothes.
Garance is the best-dressed blogger, I like how she retains her artistic allure. I guess it is not the easiest thing to do in the middle of fashion world! certainly it is not a given even, even when elegance and originality are part of one’s style… I wish her blog showed more pics of hers!!
@ une chatte grise ,
that would be Rosalind Russell in HIS GIRL FRIDAY!, directed by Howard Hawkes and, of course, starring Cary Grant. One of my all-time favorite films.
BTW, Weegee was a photojournalist of that era whose work has since reached art status.
I must say… as a reader of garance dore’s blog… I am SHOCKED that she is wearing purses at the elbow… I strictly remember her writing a blog about how she will never wear one!
I’d love to see an “All The Pretty Photographers” post on Tamu McPherson, the photographer behind “All The Pretty Birds” blog! Apologies if I’ve missed it!
With her long slender legs Garance can pull any style off! In these looks I’m afraid my short curvy body and sturdy legs would look so dowdy. Her sense of style rivals that of Kate Moss. Go Garance!
PS please keep ‘all the pretty photographers’ going, including shots of Garance.
@ M. Da Chump– Mais oui! I had a brain freeze while trying to remember the film’s title, which, of course, came back to me after the computer was turned off. (I blame the bronchitis drugs.) Garance seems to have the energy and wit to keep up with Hawk’s pace and timing!
I love the way Garance contracts when she’s shooting!
It is somehow as if she wants to gather everything within her…I don’t know how to put it into words…
Love these series!
Garance has the most amazing fashion sense…..she should write a book about how to put colors and outfits together…..and her bags are amazing!! What’s her secret?
i am loving this series, for the fashionable photographers are never quite in the limelight, even if their intense love for style is the reason they shoot!
Those are not the first pair of double monks I’ve spied on Garance on this blog. There was a gorgeous brown pair a few years back… Scott, can you ask Garance where she gets her double buckles? Love them.
A real Photographer – will do anything to get the right shot. See pic #1. A real “I need to p…”, but let me get this shot first :-) . A real pleasure watching these shots. You can she see she do what she love. May all have a awesome clicking day

Garance must ahve German (or Nordic) ancestors… I can’t overcome this impression while admiring her style. Correct me if I a wrong, but I can bet ;-)

I must say… as a reader of garance dore’s blog… I am SHOCKED that she is wearing purses at the elbow… I strictly remember her writing a blog about how she will never wear one!

Apart from her pics, I love her brogues and her bags and the funny postures she takes when shooting. Perfect timing dear Sartorialist.
Kisses from Greece!
P.S. I think the hat is not worn very nicely on the first pic. Second works better (just a tiny little comment)

I don’t get it. Why not just start cross-dressing (as a man) altogether? Those shoes are borderline absurd on a female.

Love the action shots of Garance though in the 2nd pic, it looks odd – such a warm, solid coat + hat with bare legs …. but I LOOOOOVE the handbag!

Wow I just love that second image. The antique looking ice cream truck with her very film noir inspired outfit looks like an original vintage shot.

i am loving this series, for the fashionable photographers are never quite in the limelight, even if their intense love for style is the reason they shoot!

Those are not the first pair of double monks I’ve spied on Garance on this blog. There was a gorgeous brown pair a few years back… Scott, can you ask Garance where she gets her double buckles? Love them.
