A Sartorialist In Detail

If you want to judge the success of a Sartorialist outfit then take a look at his left shoulder. The shape of a jacket shoulder, pocket square, the shirt and tie combo and how it relates to the pattern and texture of the jacket, even the quality of the suit by looking at the roll of the lapel can all be judged by taking a peek at the southpaw (I feel I should mention a southpaw is a lefthanded baseball pitcher).
Below are two recent photos that show how beautifully nuanced, stylish and artistic menswear ,at its best, can be. Of course shoes can make or break a Sartorialist but if he can get the left shoulder right then you can almost bet the shoe are also on the mark.

You have the only site that should scare the fashion press. Your pix are great, your text is great–now get an interview with Simon Doonan.

This is a beautiful shot – care to show the whole ensemble? Or did I miss it from an earlier post.

I third the motion that your site is wonderful – found you via Styleforum and have learned a lot about combining ‘classic style’ with creativity.

Shots like this are great object lessons for everyday dressing that looks anything but.

You have a very impressive wardrobe, Mr S! So which brand would YOU wear day to night if you had no other choice? ;) L.

    Thanks L.
These photos are not of me. If I had to wear one label it would probably be Borrelli, better yet I would take a wardrobe from the Bergdorf windows from the last two years.

I really adore pictures of this particular area of an outfit containing a jacket. The jacket shoulder, the shirt collar, handkerchief and the accessories round the neck. They really sum it all up so beautifully.

The coarse texture and the colour of the jacket fabric in the first picture, combined with the subtle navy paisey scarf looks so good.

Hope I am not violating any rules by posting this link:

The picture behind it is of a lesser quality than those above, but shows what I mean.

Thank you Scott for all the inspiration you provide through this blog, and a warm wish of good luck after launching this new design. It has improved the blog immensely, espesially the functionality making it possible to search for certain parts of the content.

    Take care
