On the Street…..Denim in Detail, Florence

I love the cut of those jeans (fuller thigh, tapered to ankle) and that the small cuff doesn’t add too much visual weight around the ankles.

This is a cute look on a petite Italian. I am a 6’3″ American and I cannot wear cropped pants or show of vast amounts of ankle without looking like a complete weirdo.

dude, what are you talking about? have you forgotten that models are tall? they look great in everything…if you believe it you can pull it off. if you doubt yourself then it’s broke before you started.

I have been looking for a pair like jeans like this to accomodate my cyclist thighs but I can’t find any designers that create such a large taper. It’s a shame because it follows the natural shape of the leg, which I find beautiful. Nonetheless, I’ll keep waiting and wanting since I am too weirded out by the thought of bringing jeans to a tailor.

I have a big learning curve to learn the fundamental elements of a strong outfit. It isn’t to me to say critical things but I see this isn’t a strong outfit. A wallet chain and military jacket tell a different story then “fashion” jeans. Also the high roll of the jeans and shiny penny loafers look prissy where the top wants to look manly.

      March 15, 2013 at 8:17 pm

They are all reminiscent of the way fifties urban youth wore their jeans, with a wallet chain and penny loafers. I really don’t know why you need to tell us how often you criticize things, but right here you may be missing the point. But I suggest you watch a movie like “the Outsiders” or something with early Marlon Brando like “The Wild One” so at least you know what this look is coming from. Thats what started it even if the people wearing it now are not aware of that.
With all due respect to your huge….learning curve… there is no scientific basis for your opinion or anyone else’s.

Love the pure blue and the roll of the jeans. With the loafers its really just like a fifties greaser look. A favorite of mine because it reminds me of Ponyboy Curtis from the Outsiders, a favorite book/movie of mine. But I actually really like the interesting design of the army jacket. Thats what I am eyeballing. As a woman I can say this sort of look catches my eye.

or anyone for that matter, have any idea what jeans these are? I’m pretty certain they are not Dior judging by the pockets.

something about a high gloss shoe and no socks seems equal to that strip of skin men expose between the sock and the hem of the pants when they sit down….both are equally off putting.
however, no socks and a less glossy shoe works just great.
