Thats brilliant! It makes so much sense! These really look very easy to wear in real life when you look at them a b it. All except the third photo, which would be fine as separate pieces, but not for me. All else is very usable and totally different.

The blue hat is incredible. Looks almost like a projected, digital image. Love the delicate nature of the construction, and transparency contrasted with the boldness of the size and blue.
we all know handbags are status symbols for women (whoever denies that is full of crapt), so is Uncle Karl making fun of us with that huge circle purse creation? if so, I love his humor. if not, then i am disappointed with his provocation:))))))))))
Interesting collection from Chanel but I am having trouble trying to interpret the message…or is there a message here? A giant wind farm for a runway is amazing but how did that connect with the clothing? The clothing istself; beautiful colours, interesting accessories and pearls, pearls, pearls. My pick would have to be those hats! Not sure I could pull one off myself but amazing editorial value for summer! Cheers to sustainable fashion!
LOL!! They are for the beach. Very practical. I love bags which have structure so things inside don’t get scrunched, and it looks indestructible! But I don’t think carrying it around town would be bad. i would be a total conversation piece for a person with confidence and humor. Plus…it would keep the stuff inside safe even in a downpour. If I had the extra cash, Id definitely go for it. it separates the women from the girls, I say!
That bag is awesome ! I mean, most likely you won’t see people on the street with it, but it’s a fashion SHOW. Keeps things interesting when the designer is free to be creative. I like it. Refreshing to see something new.
I can’t understand why fashion-people are shocked about the maxi hula hop bag. Come on, it’s fashion…you have to dare and play with it!!! Everybody loves Prada SS2013 shoes, why not even this bag? They are both symbol of excess. So why not?

The 4th photo is my favorite, Chanel to the shoes.
The rest, including that hoop bag seems ridiculous, but again, I have that precise Chanel style in mind, classic and classy.
In a huge, mostly white venue where the audience is so far away, the huge, mostly white bag is brilliant.
Absurd…but as a performance piece, brilliant.
It wouldn’t work at all though on a runway where the audience is 6 inches from the models.
I am completely lost.
What the hell is happening on runways this year?
Some pieces of this collection are alright but not more than that:(!
But overall it’s not good and furthermore the collection is not cohesive.
Very disappointing!
And the bag is just miserably ridiculous.
Does nothing for the show.
It is just very poor taste.
Sad!!!
The bag is meant for the beach. You can hand towels and such on it. I think it would be amazingly practical, actually, and it wouldn’t be any harder to use then any big bag. In fact its better. You wouldn’t crumple things up like you would with a shapeless typical bag.
The shoes are so flattering, and so totally comfy looking. Especially compared to some of the torture chambers we see that have the high arch that kills. At least maybe you like those? Ah well. Everyone has their own opinion.
I genuinely think this is so fresh and innovative! The bag is SO striking; it makes the model look like a toy, a doll. The transparent hat is just perfect–art added to fashion.
seems that someone recently went through some of the wardrobe archive of 70s B-movies and blaxploitation films. but hey – fantasy is good for fashion. curious to see it translate for the street.
I am a big Chanel fan…but…all I can say is I find this collection interesting.
As for the bag, I would love it as a piece of art on the wall, seriously!
LOL. The bag is quite witty, really. And when I had three tiny kids in tow, my own bag was nearly that big.
The clothes are quite pretty (rare these days when “ugly=hip/cool”). And with the exception of the fringed clown suit in photo #3, are actually wearable by real people.
Kat, you cracked me up with the Sir Mix-a-Lot reference. Excellent.
Karl has lost his touch; not only in the clothes, but with design in general. He’s too out of touch with the world to move on. He ships an iceberg from the Arctic Pole a couple seasons ago, and now pleads a story of “sustainable” effort….pssshhhh. He really has no idea where fashion is going in today’s society. Lagerfeld NEEDS to retire and allow the house of Chanel to rule with an actual, realistic message for the future.
Making a decision to have wind turbines and solar panels arranged for an 8 minute fashion show is quite contrary to the supposed message…right?
He sketches the collections, choses fabrics, and participates in fittings. That is the extent of his creative process. A designer today…especially one of a house such as Chanel needs to adhere their process to global issues and dissect fashion systems to help the world.
love the picture with the big bag, it’s really a different, beautiful and complete picture ..
You must say – they do a wonderful job – but it’s nothing new (;
I think Coco would cry watching this POOR collection.
It’s all has been done to death. And the bag is just a last effort to make it original.

Except that most of the comments are positive, as you notice if you read them. I don’t think that trying to kill creativity and the idea that things can change for the better is really in humanities best interest. What do you think they said when the Wright brothers started experimenting with flying machines? They said; Ridiculous. “If man was meant to fly he would have wings”. Everything new gets laughed at. But who laughs in the end? I would rather see a new idea of a bag where the handle can be useful even if some think it silly, then reinvent the wheel. And if someone doesn’t like fashion they likely wouldn’t see much difference between what fashion lovers like and what they don’t in any case. If you asked a person that didn’t like fashion much what they think of Marc Jacobs show they would say “stupid and ugly”. Maybe its just that we all need to see outside the box, not get further into it.
The collection is simply divine, Coco Chanel would be impressed with the evolution..the wheelbag on the other hand (pun) is begging for a stick to roll in down the street:) I am having flashbacks of myself as a girl in Jamaica playing with a bicycle wheel with the tap of a stick. such joy then which wouldn’t translate the same on 3rd ave NYC.
#Nimzat – Totally agree about the second dress. I luvvv the purse. Obviously to draw attention to that fact Chanel’s purses are a big part of their name.
I saw the first purse on Wendy William’s hot topics and didn’t like it, but now that I look at it again, I would rock it. I also like the transparent hat. Very cute.

Many people have used the word “ridiculous” and it is the first word that came to my mind, too.
Society does not take fashion seriously — notice that ridicule and ridiculous have the same root.
If those of us who appreciate fashion find this ridiculous, we should say so and discourage designers from presenting this kind of thing.

None of the clothes are a wow. The dress in picture 3 looks like the dress of a small kid, who was playing with glue and fabric scraps.

Very cute.
