Wow. First sight I thought it was a woman with a man-kind-of outfit, while he is a man in a perfect look. Is this the Alessandro Michele’s vawe? I so love this effect.

Saw him on Bill Cunningham’s video blog the other day! He had it styled a bit differently – what a fresh look for a man, love it.

By the way, just looked through every single page of both of your books at Barnes& Noble the other day and I cannot wait to have them both in my home. They are numbers 1 & 2 on my gift list. Love how you curated the images – they way they are put together was very moving for me.

‘Both’? You know there’s three, don’t you? An even greater delight to be had…

    Hahaha. Ridiculous.

    • Robin

      January 22, 2016 at 7:04 pm

Why is this ridiculous? Women wear menswear-inspired looks often. Femininity is nothing to be ashamed of. I’m really happy men are beginning to embrace these kinds of looks. More ideas, more options, more equality. Seems like good news all around to me.

Surprising to hear a commentary such as yours on Scott’s blog. Sorry you find this ridiculous and cannot see the beauty on OH SO MANY LEVELS. This individual has a beautifully fresh approach and an amazing eye for color. Would love to have him as a friend, so that I might learn a few things about how to mix and wear fashion today. Thoroughly modern!!! OH, and another thing…….He must have a magnificent smile. Coherent to me.

@Robin: this is not a woman-inspired look, he ‘s just wearing a womanscoat.

        January 25, 2016 at 9:34 pm

Men are not embracing those kinds of looks. Crossdressers are. Men in general would sooner cut of their left leg then wear something that makes them actually look female. Women embrace androgyny, but not looking masculine. Big difference. I like his coat, and he looks cool, but I could never take him seriously as a person.

      • Joesephine

        January 25, 2016 at 9:41 pm

He is crossdressing. There is nothing really new about it. Its not like he is just a regular guy, who happens to wear women’s coat because he liked it. And heterosexual men are not any more likely to dress like that today then they would have twenty years ago.

        February 7, 2016 at 8:57 pm

I assure you, men are not embracing this sort of look.

    • Alessandro

      January 27, 2016 at 10:38 am

Indeed, you have been too kind; ridiculous doesn’t quite describe just how ridiculous this outfit is – on so many levels to quote some of the stylistic kool-aid drinkers. There is nothing original about wearing a pink woman’s coat – there might be some ‘daring’ element, as ifn let’s see what happens if I wear a woman’s coat in public? But, no, the ‘gentleman’ is not breaking any new ground in style or inspiring an aesthetic revolution. He’s neither Armani nor Marx.

      Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and sometimes a coast is just . . . . er …… ah . . . . ridiculous. Fashionable, but still ridiculous.

Will that be common, men in women coat? Even his handbag color matches! Well, he got the nerve too do so!

  21. Pella

    January 24, 2016 at 6:42 am

More power to him if that’s what he wants to wear, but it looks like an old lady who went out in her house shoes and robe to grab milk and bread at 6 in the morning. Put that on people of Walmart and it will fit right in.

    • Maria

      January 25, 2016 at 9:51 pm

The stuff he is wearing looks pretty obviously expensive. I would be pretty surprised to see an old lady in such an unusual, and tailored coat, and such obviously expensive tennis shoes. Besides, even old ladies wear skinny jeans and Yoga pants and boxy parkas in Walmart. No bare ankles.

People already don´t know what to wear to look different and most of the time look ridiculous and this is the case.
Is it possible to think that this guy is showing any kind of elegance ? Oh please !!!

    • Mme. B.

      January 26, 2016 at 8:45 am

Yes, it is possible to think that this handsome man shows elegance because that is exactly what I am thinking right now.

    • Maria

      January 27, 2016 at 5:57 pm

If he was female, I would have said it was a nice look, even though not particularly interesting. But I am sure your typical liberal will be delighted to see it, not because it is elegant, but because its a man in his grandma’s coat.

What makes this look particularly “fabulous”?
        Because the coat is pink?

    Acne womenswear AW2016.
Love the coat. Not sure it works on him, I think it’s too waisted for him.

    that’s certainly one interesting outfit!

but one thing I’ll never understand about fashion: how is it possible to wear a coat which looks super warm and woolly, and at the same time bare ankles in sneakers?

congrats to the wearer for expressing his intent to challenge or perhaps just get noticed – but I do not think this is “well dressed”

I think this look is funny but I’d have to speak to the guy before I knew whether it was worthy of ridicule.
