Wow. First sight I thought it was a woman with a man-kind-of outfit, while he is a man in a perfect look. Is this the Alessandro Michele’s vawe? I so love this effect.
By the way, just looked through every single page of both of your books at Barnes& Noble the other day and I cannot wait to have them both in my home. They are numbers 1 & 2 on my gift list. Love how you curated the images – they way they are put together was very moving for me.
Why is this ridiculous? Women wear menswear-inspired looks often. Femininity is nothing to be ashamed of. I’m really happy men are beginning to embrace these kinds of looks. More ideas, more options, more equality. Seems like good news all around to me.
Surprising to hear a commentary such as yours on Scott’s blog. Sorry you find this ridiculous and cannot see the beauty on OH SO MANY LEVELS. This individual has a beautifully fresh approach and an amazing eye for color. Would love to have him as a friend, so that I might learn a few things about how to mix and wear fashion today. Thoroughly modern!!! OH, and another thing…….He must have a magnificent smile. Coherent to me.
Men are not embracing those kinds of looks. Crossdressers are. Men in general would sooner cut of their left leg then wear something that makes them actually look female. Women embrace androgyny, but not looking masculine. Big difference. I like his coat, and he looks cool, but I could never take him seriously as a person.
He is crossdressing. There is nothing really new about it. Its not like he is just a regular guy, who happens to wear women’s coat because he liked it. And heterosexual men are not any more likely to dress like that today then they would have twenty years ago.
Indeed, you have been too kind; ridiculous doesn’t quite describe just how ridiculous this outfit is – on so many levels to quote some of the stylistic kool-aid drinkers. There is nothing original about wearing a pink woman’s coat – there might be some ‘daring’ element, as ifn let’s see what happens if I wear a woman’s coat in public? But, no, the ‘gentleman’ is not breaking any new ground in style or inspiring an aesthetic revolution. He’s neither Armani nor Marx.
More power to him if that’s what he wants to wear, but it looks like an old lady who went out in her house shoes and robe to grab milk and bread at 6 in the morning. Put that on people of Walmart and it will fit right in.
The stuff he is wearing looks pretty obviously expensive. I would be pretty surprised to see an old lady in such an unusual, and tailored coat, and such obviously expensive tennis shoes. Besides, even old ladies wear skinny jeans and Yoga pants and boxy parkas in Walmart. No bare ankles.
People already don´t know what to wear to look different and most of the time look ridiculous and this is the case.
Is it possible to think that this guy is showing any kind of elegance ? Oh please !!!
If he was female, I would have said it was a nice look, even though not particularly interesting. But I am sure your typical liberal will be delighted to see it, not because it is elegant, but because its a man in his grandma’s coat.
but one thing I’ll never understand about fashion: how is it possible to wear a coat which looks super warm and woolly, and at the same time bare ankles in sneakers?
