Scott, I find your art inspiring and uplifting and I thank you for sharing it with us. However, this comment of mine will not be a praise for you but a critique – it is disturbingly often that you post pictures of people smoking cigarettes and I personally find such images sad and off putting. Call me wierd, but I don’t find smoking sexy, pretty, intriguing or whatever positive aspect people find in it. I find it ugly, self-destructive and incredibly sad. Why advertise it? Why promote it as cool?

While I personally find smoking disgusting and stupid, these are all adults and they can make their own decisions. I don’t see these photos as glamorizing smoking, just showing people doing what they happen to be doing when the picture was taken.

As for the clothes, I’m not really crazy about any of them. The second one’s shirt has too much going on and it doesn’t fit together at all. The first woman has great hair.

here here – every other photo you post is a smoker. why not just take a photo of them when they’re not smoking?

I totally agree with you! I dont think Scot does it on purpose. It just shows what a drastically huge number of people, and horribly young people, smoke these days…out of plain boredom! Cigarette producers are making billions on this poison, and most of these people will spend thousands on chemo later on! :(

The Parisians certainly know how to nail effortless style.

A brilliant selection of photos – thanks for sharing!

I take that as a very nice compliment, although, this probably represents 5% of us (yes, I am Parisian) and I don’t consider myself that stylish..Hélas. I wish, though.
I leave a street away frim Dries V. Noten atelier… And somehow, it does not seem to rub off on me! Hélas again :-)

Dries is such a one-of-a-kind and I love that his shows’ attendees embody his aesthetics, with that same eye for luxurious prints and fabrics, while avoiding ostentatiousness. His menswear S/S 2016 collection wasn’t exactly a hit with us, but with an oeuvre as strong as that of Van Noten’s, it doesn’t lessen our excitement for F/W 2016 at all. We’ll be featuring Van Noten in our Designer Dictionary on July 15…come check us out!

Still not into robes and PJs on the street. Love the bag in the last photo-anyone know who it is?

Agreed. These folks look like they’re going down the driveway to get the mail on a Saturday morning. The prints are pretty, though.

      July 10, 2015 at 11:46 am

I’m with you. I see soccer moms rocking the PJs as street clothes paired with white socks and Adidas slides at the local Wawa every morning. These are just fancier PJs ;)

The prints are stunning but would love to see more structure
The pant in the first shot looks like a cleaner cut and paired with a plain black tee … she looks pretty fierce

The first picture–I love her pants and she ought to sleep more.

The mesh shirt on the bottom is very practical. I would definitely wear that with everything. Long sleeves would be dangerous.

Lovely paisley pantsuit. I can dig the loud PJs and the striped robe–they go together like strings and brass in a song.

Very little is practical, but it all can be loved and enjoyable.

    Beautiful camera work.

Indeed! (For myself, I’d take the zippers & things off the shirt–I think that purely minimal would work even better with the pants.)

That shirt-vest thing is interesting on first look but after a while, it seems poorly executed. Strap it on too tight and it bunches the shirt; too loose and you lose the fit.

To the tsk-tsk-ers re cigarettes…This is the street…this is what the street looks like…On the street one sees things they like and hings they don’t …It’s called LIFE…Grow up. Please…if you want someone shielding your eyes from things you might find offensive, then go to a mall. Or get a literate seeing- eye dog.
