Off-Roading with Bentley, Palm Springs

Just before Fashion Week, Bentley invited me to Palm Springs to introduce me to the Bentayga, and a whole new way of looking at what a Bentley automobile could be.

I’ve always thought of Bentley as the ultimate city car but this trip out to Palm Springs opened my eyes to the ruggedness of the Bentayga.¬†Living in the city and traveling in Europe, I don’t get a chance to drive very often, so it was nice to have a chance to take the long route on these beautiful roads that surround Palm Springs. It makes me kind of wish I lived in a place where driving was more of my everyday activity.

We got to take the Bentayga out on the kind of terrain that I would never typically expect to see a Bentley on. Surfing the sand dunes…off roading…the type of activities usually arranged for four-wheeling or an off-road drive. I had such a good laugh watching Louise Roe try to drive our Bentayga over a precarious log bridge. ¬†For her, it was less about our physical safety and more about her fear of crashing our beautiful new car.

Not only did I get the chance to take the Bentayga off-roading around an obstacle course, but I also got the chance to take my first helicopter ride! ¬†I don’t know if I was more nervous about driving the car on a closed race track at a very, very, high speed, or the fear of the unknown helicopter trip (as it turned out the helicopter was pretty tame).

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage, there was a lovely¬†dinner the first night hosted by the team at Bentley, the whole event was top of the line elegance that you would expect from a company like Bentley. ¬†I don’t usually think of the British as being so seductive, but it was hard not to be seduced by the elegant experiences each night at sumptuous dinners and the ruggedness of the activities during the day.

Great memories and photos, great accommodations, and a beautiful location made for a lovely few days in Palm Springs.
