On the Street…In the Market of Urubamba, Peru

Another monochromatic color story in the market of Urubamba.

While working on this image I couldn’t help but notice how perfectly she fits within her surroundings.

On the Street…..In the Market of Urubamba, Peru

In the market of Urubamba,, instead of dressing in rich contrast colors (Monday’s example) ¬†or focusing on bold mixes of neon colors and diamond patterns (Tuesday’s example), ¬†I noticed that women here dress in a more monochromatic color palette. ¬† ¬†Later today¬†I have an exampleof a very simple blue/white look with just a hint of green and yellow in her shopping bag.

Notice how beautifully her hair works with her ensemble, like she built her look around her silver locks.

On the Road…..In the Hills Outside Urubamba, Peru

Notice how different the color palette and use of trim and pattern is from the Peruvian women I posted yesterday

On the Street…..Halo of Flowers, Peru

One of the joys of my career is I never know what I will find around the next corner of the street or bend in the road.

On my second day in Peru, staying in the village of Urubamba, we took a road that snaked through the hills just outside town.

Farms, terraced hills, random livestock, the hills are full of a life not much different than it would have been one hundred years ago or more.

You can imagine how my jaw dropped when I saw this young girl, with her halo of flowers.

More than from a different place, she (and her little brother) were from a different place and time.  At that age I barely let my little girls handle the TV remote control,  let alone go off on a journey down a winding hillside road loaded down with a large clay pot on their back.

Everyday I’m so thankful that I get to discover the world in all its endless and fascinating diversities and similarities.

On the Street…..Town Square in a Small Village, Peru

Emerald Green, royal purple, deep burgundy and navy!  What a beautifully sophisticated color combination.

This woman was selling home-made beer to the very local community in the very local town square,  no big deal and yet such honest, simple beauty of everyday life there.

On the Street…….Town Square in a Little Village, Peru

After spending about eight days in Peru last week, I was pleasantly surprised by how unique the dress style was by region and , sometimes, by village.

In this small village, on the road from Urubamba to Cusco, ¬†each lady dressed in wonderfully dramatic color combinations. ¬†This woman’s neon orange sweater ¬†and leaf green cardigan under another fuzzy yellow outer-cardigan, all worn over a sober¬†slate blue pleated skirt was just one of the delights of a lunch time stopover. ¬†Notice the equally wonderful hot pink, red and black combination on the woman in the background.

The woman I will post at 4 pm offers another wonderfully exciting palette of colors!

On the Street…..What Was I Shooting? Paris

I don’t remember what I was shooting but I love how my assistant Camilla caught the line of my skinny Gap jeans and slim Aspesi coat, ¬†and sleek New Balance sneaks (all Navy color(?)).

I do remember it was early Sunday morning in Paris and this felt the perfect thing to wear.
