Henri Cartier-Bresson’s genius for composition, situational intelligence or dexterity to seize the right moment, coined and defined the principle “decisive moment” Â
A decade after his death in 2004, Centre Pompidou celebrates his work and his life in their latest exhibition running till 9, June 2014 in Paris.
Clément Chéroux, the curator of photographs at the Centre Pompidou, took up the monumental challenge of assembling 500 artefacts including number of painting, family portraits, drawings all showing the creative process of this street photographer and his journey leading to the co-founding of Magnum in 1947 and snippets of the very private individual behind this surrealist and avant-garde photographer.
We can see our world through his lens during times of the Roaring Twenties, Colonial Africa, two World wars, American boom, Hippies of 70’s- all in black and white. The exhibition is the story of the 20th century, narrated through the masterwork of a legend.
If you can’t make the exhibit the DVD is almost like being there!
