I think it’s safe to say that by self-conscious the above post meant something along the lines of conscious of the fact that he was putting together a “fashiony,” or “daring” outfit, rather than having an effortless style. In other words: trying too hard.
Here are those pants again ! I understand that guys want “comfort” and space to breathe but, this style is not flattering.
Too bad, because I like the rest of the outfit, especially the tartan bag and the umbrella.
I agree, really cool, really London. Its only in London people get away with stuff that would loke horrible on any other person. They always talk about the French girls and their style. Its should be The London people. I think French/Parisian women look either boring, or if they are a bit older and high class they are of course beautiful and classic, but classic can be really BORING! A London lady is NEVER boring. Can be a bit shabby bohemian, but that is far better than being boring. In London I always se spectacular outfits, but Paris mostly same kind of dressing on everyone, OR really expensive designer clothes. I think this guys looks very cool!
Deliberate or accident?
I think it works as a whole, but I’m not sure whether it was all contrived or whether he threw whatever he felt comfortable on that morning, just grabbing necessary accessories.
It’s the rings that make me think there might have been some conscious effort……?
C’mon, there are many variations of such outfit around the world, in almost every mundane corner. Just b’cause he is in London, in some specific neighbor that this outfit makes him seemingly outstanding?
This is the same type of pants I previously described as pajama-like and something my American tourist visiting warm foreign countries would wear. I repeat many of the sentiments here that it looks awful, and should NOT, NOT be the things to come.
I guess Scot found it fun to picture someone in a bored day, when going to the groceries store is the closest you can get to “out and having fun”…
I often get dressed like that… when I’m at home and sick, ont wishing to see a single living soul.
I love his rings! How delicate. They are so lovely in contrast to the industrial element of this outfit; plastic bag, umbrella, sneaks and loose fitting clothing for an easy stroll in the city. I think I would like to run into people in that outfit, I think there is something classic about…maybe it is the new classic…or maybe i just live in a small town and do not see people who dress like this….thanks for sharing so inspiring.
Just a boy. I can’t figure out why he is making an appearance on this site. I am also puzzled by the “trying too hard” comments as it looks as if he didn’t try at all–just picked up the stuff lying about the flat.
Perhaps there are subtle fashion clues I am not picking up. My son comes over in what looks to me like sneakers, jeans and a t-shirt, exactly like last week. But he explains that the jeans and sneakers are special something, and the t-shirt too.
Hmmm… not a fan. I’m all for the “relaxed” or “slouchy” look, but it sorta looks like he just rolled out of bed and hit the street. And not in a good way. :/ This is on the wrong side of “casual.” But, to each their own. Hope he’s not going to work in an office like that though…
