I like most everything: men, better go in your closet and look for those Weejuns, because they are coming back big time! I think you are right about slim jeans, they do go better with a dressier outfit. Now… color sunglass frames- I once read an article that such sunglasses were to draw attention to your face, which in my humble book is a big no-no- that would be the only thing I would change here, some good ole black Wayfarers would be tons better. July 21, 2009 at 9:51 am
I love the effortlessness of his approach with this look. The shades are so dope!
July 21, 2009 at 9:53 am
I wanna dress like that when I grow up. Sartorial, yet effortless.
July 21, 2009 at 9:57 am
I love his shades and watch, very sporty!
July 21, 2009 at 10:10 am
Great style and very beautiful dark blue colour- this Florentine man reminds me of Omar Sharif, the Egyptian actor, in his nonchalant elegance– sprezzatura!
July 21, 2009 at 10:11 am
I love old men with great style. Fabulous. Thank you, Sart!
You should check out my blog, if you get a chance:http://www.cucpakesanddiamonds.com
Try Dior Homme. Slim, but not too much, and keep their shape well after wear and wash. Not sure those are jeans he's wearing though.
July 21, 2009 at 10:13 am
I have the same problem with finding perfectly slim jeans- This man is really nice dressed.
Cool outfit!! great picture!

July 21, 2009 at 10:17 am
great combo, the italian/sartorial way!
July 21, 2009 at 10:21 am
Are you suuuure those are jeans? I agree with you on the fit. They just look too…blue. No texture to them…doesn't even look like they have a jean hem at the bottom…Are you sure those are jeans?!
Doesn't matter really. Dude typifies Florentine style. All your best dressed men have been sitting on or standing near this wall.
molto …affascinante!!!!!bellissimo! i love you

It is quite rare to see an older man with slim jeans.. and that's a pity, because it looks great! This man is so elegant, so… "homme".I also like the glasses and the watch: he know how to live in the 21st century and keep on going elegant in its own way….

You have shown photos of this gentleman in the past. Who is he?
July 21, 2009 at 10:31 am
The older gentlemen in Milan look wonderful. I am dying to know what their female counterparts are wearing!!!! Please, more shots of stylish mature women!!!!!
July 21, 2009 at 10:38 am
WOOW! I would like to grow up looking as stylish as him!
ah! so fresh n so clean!!
July 21, 2009 at 10:40 am
yeah it's pretty hard to find jeans that are slim, but not cheap monday slim.
July 21, 2009 at 10:43 am
Now he has style, love the look.
July 21, 2009 at 10:45 am
these are amazing!!love the color combination. for someone his age. wow!
July 21, 2009 at 10:46 am
omg, ask him! I've been looking for jeans like that for ages!
July 21, 2009 at 10:49 am
Oh wowww! What a supercool combo, love it. And Bravoo on the jacket!
July 21, 2009 at 10:51 am
Hello from Paris,
The best slim jean is APC new cure! It's wonderful! I am on my way to LA and will prbabely wear it in the plane !!! to break it since it is a bit stiff! white loafers, linen and coton navy blazer, dress shirt white collar and cuffs navy and white checks, my new porcelain cufflinks, and a navy belt with gold vintage Celine buckle!! here I come LA ! I hope they will upgrade me to at least first class! I like to travel in style , like in the old days !! nostalgia of civilized times!!!!my very best and have a wonderfull summer
July 21, 2009 at 10:52 am
Old Italian men are the chicest!!!
–daily CHIC news from Paris–
Everything is so trim and light, I like that his watch is so super chunky.
July 21, 2009 at 10:54 am
I agree about the jeans, this man clearly knows about the right cut. That said, I'm not wild about the colour of the wayfarers or the sporty watch, which (for me) doesn't go with the elegance of the look as a whole. Also, what it the white bit at the bottom of his tie?
July 21, 2009 at 10:56 am
i wonder if you d still find them as cool if you were based in italy, where (in cities as in the province)that style of man jeans is ruling man use of jeans (together with cheap monday slim but for other types of men) … i find them cooler here, in your blog, where they are a-contextualised …
July 21, 2009 at 11:06 am
not a single weak link here. making a moustachio look gooood.
July 21, 2009 at 11:07 am
Oh my god, he looks soooo italian! He has every italian cliché: sockless shoes, Ray Bans, huge watch.. I don't like it at all but maybe it's because I'm italian..
July 21, 2009 at 11:14 am
he is so modern!
July 21, 2009 at 11:15 am
He looks like Joseph Fritzl. :)
July 21, 2009 at 11:27 am
Yah, it's all about the jeans and the watch. The shades are too young for him though.
For good skinny jeans try Ruben Chapelle on W 14th Street in NY. Amazingly comfortable for skinnies, and they don't stretch out like APCs.
July 21, 2009 at 11:29 am
you gotta love it-i sure do ;)
July 21, 2009 at 11:49 am
Those don't look like jeans to me either. They have that nice ankle-baring taper to them though. I have two pairs of very slim (not skinny) jeans from Uniqlo: I got them for $25 each! Like the shoes too. Mi manca Firenze…
July 21, 2009 at 11:56 am
Awesome! Wouldn't mind having him as a great uncle! :p
July 21, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Hello, for the jeans try DSquared.VIC

I can't get over how European men are on a completely different level when it comes to their personal style.. so sophisticated yet cool.
July 21, 2009 at 12:32 pm
This man is definitely getting older with style and grace. It's definitely the direction I want to go.
July 21, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Quick question, i have been toying with the idea of going sockless, how du you keep your feet and shoes from smelling like the devil farted? How to take care of your shoes?
July 21, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Gentleman, you´ve got to try ACNE jeans.

July 21, 2009 at 1:02 pm
when are you coming to sweden?
July 21, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Such a great style!
Watch is awesome.
July 21, 2009 at 1:23 pm
Cheap Mondays are really quite nice if you just size up about two larger than your normal size. Nice and slim, not too tight or obnoxiously skinny, and perfect in the waist (at least on me).
July 21, 2009 at 1:32 pm
these are too good to be jeans. i thought they were navy trousers. i really like how he is wearing classic pieces/silhouettes but changes it up with the youthful glasses, sporty watch, & denim.
July 21, 2009 at 1:53 pm

He has a great look, and his watch is so interesting (and very sharp).
July 21, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Best subject for a long time. I remember this guy from an old shot of yours a few years back. he was in a charcoal gray suit, white shirt, dark tie with these yellow framed glasses in his pocket? Very inspirational coming into August. This man can dress

J. Crew's selvedge denim in vintage slim is a great cut. I have a pair. Only thing i had to do was go up an inch in the waist for shrinkage and fit. But, i definitely wear them with my loafers and high tops a like, all the time.
goodbye heart vintage

i wish that guy was my uncle. he looks like the kind of guy who'd take you fishing and then hop on a plane to nyc.

July 21, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Fantastic look; I totally agree about the jeans. They really push his look into one that is worthy of this blog.
Here in Japan, this type of sensible slim is the norm. While Scandinavian/ North American slim jeans hug the lower knee and ankle, Japanese slim jeans leave just a bit more room. I think it creates a nicer, more masculine silhouette. A few weeks ago I picked up a cheap pair from UniQlo to test-run the style. It's been a success.
July 21, 2009 at 8:03 pm
I agree with H: his classic pieces/silhouettes worn with funky sunnies (raybans?) & beautifully cut (great fabric too) denim! :)xx
July 21, 2009 at 8:09 pm
Oh, I want him to be my grandpa.

thank you for revisiting classic italian men's sportswear.
welcome to toronto.
i hope you enjoy your time here.

His poor feet must be SWOLLEN in those shoes…if it is HOT out.. I guess..that is the price you pay for looking so chic!

this man has some serious style.love his sunglasses!
July 21, 2009 at 9:09 pm
really cool and fresh !!and what's that blue ray-ban in these outfit ??this guy rock it !!
July 21, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Try Levi's 511 cut. Really slim, but not rocker tight. They also do an over-dyed trouser style denim in the 511 range very similar to what the gentleman is wearing. The best part is they are only $80.
July 21, 2009 at 9:40 pm
great one . love the slim jeans . kiss
July 21, 2009 at 10:17 pm
The pants don't look like jeans, more like a LOVA slim fit navy chino. Either way he is dressed in classic effortless style.
July 21, 2009 at 11:00 pm
always admire this type of men
July 21, 2009 at 11:40 pm

He is nothing if not all about his accessories, I believe.
The wayfarers, the watch, and the two point handkerchief..!
Ruhvana and Flanelli
July 22, 2009 at 1:14 am
Damn he is so cool. I mean he can pull of wayfares and slim jeans at that age and so effortlesly. And the first thing I noticed was that cool watch!
July 22, 2009 at 1:49 am
This man proves that you can be fashionable at any age. Just because you're older doesn't mean you should resort to polo shirts tucked into khakis. Pictures like this makes me miss Europe and the mentality that fashion is essential. American men should take note and learn to dress like this!
I love that he pairs a light colored jacket with denim, so he's not too dressy. Very effortless. Tres chic!
July 22, 2009 at 2:06 am
slim jean's back?
July 22, 2009 at 2:44 am
color sunglass frames- I once read an article that such sunglasses were to draw attention to your face, which in my humble book is a big no-no- that would be the only thing I would change here, some good ole black Wayfarers would be tons better. Jorge from WPB
July 22, 2009 at 3:59 am
Such a respectable appearance! The cutaway collar in combination with the slim tie really looks great!!… I hope I will have that same flair when I grow older…
July 22, 2009 at 4:58 am
I must say, this outfit looks amazing on him. I wonder who dressed him?
July 22, 2009 at 5:58 am
My favourite!! very similar look i go for!
July 22, 2009 at 6:21 am
I absolutely adore the wayfarers on this chic gentleman!!but i really don't understand leather shoes without socks??? do u think thats all-right?
July 22, 2009 at 7:00 am
Easy: Acne, Tiger of sweden,J.Linderberg,
Nice once: Boss Black, Cerutti1881,Zzenga, Hackett..
Great Outfit by the way
July 22, 2009 at 7:52 am
Everything about him looks wonderful and yes…. effortless.
I've always hated "flared" jeans. I don't like super skinny jeans (well maybe on some very very thin women) this is the style I like and wear (mine are longer). My brother wore these jeans in the early 60's (before woodstock and hippies, his were Levi's) and I've always loved them. By the way, my brother in now pushing 60 and he still wears these jeans, he never once wavered over to flares. Gotta love that sort of confidence and style.
So for me this is perfect.
July 22, 2009 at 7:55 am
I love when you men wear shoes without socks. It is very elegant.
July 22, 2009 at 8:25 am
Like the coloring of the jacket with the jeans.
July 22, 2009 at 9:07 am
@ Lauren 10:11 -
Older than you, or mature, is not necessarily "old".This guy looks mad cool whatever his age is.
July 22, 2009 at 11:14 am
He looks fantastic. Especially the Audemars Royal Oak Offshore – sporty and beautiful.
Sart – given all the calls for APC – how about an update post on how the pair you bought a while back have turned out? I picked up a pair a little earlier than that and they soon turned into my favorite jeans.
July 22, 2009 at 11:31 am
I like the jeans as well. Can't wait for your book.
July 22, 2009 at 12:28 pm
Designers: I'd really like to see an awesome shaped neck tie for men…something different that works. This photo gave me the thought. See the way the light hits the tie in a heart shape at the bottom? It is love at first sight.
July 22, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Two things make this guy a winner for me. His cutaway collar and that GREAT FREAKING WATCH. THE AP ROO rubberclad is quite possibly the "best" current sport watch.
July 22, 2009 at 1:11 pm
The jeans look great because it's the right fit and lenght.
July 22, 2009 at 1:12 pm
sorry the shades and watch ruin it for me. Although, everything else is great. the colors are nice
Laila Of Course!

Be sure and come by my blog today and comment&follow. My photo caption contest is still going on, so please submit a caption!
July 22, 2009 at 1:49 pm
The hair is the lynchpin to this gentlemans look (lets not forget the perfectly trimmed stash). The hair makes him look distinguished while the outfit modern and chic. It mixes both worlds. However, being able to mix new and old is a gift not everyone is born w/. This gift is called "taste" and this gentleman has it.
July 22, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Your right about this man looking very summer chic. His RayBans are so fresh!
Very cool capture.
July 22, 2009 at 7:14 pm
please do and when you find out be sure to post.

July 22, 2009 at 8:10 pm
i like his style period but again the watch doesnt do it for me…whats wrong with these mens watches??? looks like over sized compass. But hey, who am i to say anything, its all about personal taste.
July 22, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Fit so important when doing a classic look like this. I think the slimmer jeans on older men is a way to add a little bit of edge to a look as timeless as this one. I love it.http://www.bseen-scene.blogspot.com
July 22, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Another vote for Levi's 511, though I personally like 510 better.
Loafer socks from Banana or H&M are very useful in the summer.
July 23, 2009 at 1:39 am
Loving his watch and the slim jeans!
July 23, 2009 at 3:36 am
Tailored jeans? mmmm, I like it! But those don't look like jeans. Ah well, who cares, he looks good anyway…
July 23, 2009 at 4:26 am
Read my new book "THE ROAD TO AMERICA'S ECONOMIC MELTDOWN," it is a detail account of how this economic crisis was allowed to happen. It's better than Glen Beck's non-sense "Common Sense," and also makes more sense than Dick Morris' Scare tactic in "Catastrophe."
Here is on review form Barnes&Nobles site: "Everyone should read this book both conservatives and democrats, it says a lot. I really wish we all read it and understand what this author is telling us. Because he explains all and shows us why we need to take better care of one and other.
The book is not about the author, it is about the system of government that has developed in this country. And its cold attitude toward the poor and its unconditional support for the wealthy. Which are good relevant points.
The people on the left can learn alot here, if they pay attention and read it. This is a truthful book that hits home in many ways. It is 5 stars for its honesty, clairity and relevance.
This book challenges the senate to do a better job of regulating the economy and to provide better protections for the future generations of Americans to come.
I recommend it for Republicans and Democrats a like, for anyone who considers themselves an American.

Prada makes good tapered jeans just got two pairs
July 23, 2009 at 4:36 am
I can smell Italy from here
July 23, 2009 at 4:53 am
loving the loafers w/o socks. at least I'm not the only one doing that.
Jeans-wise: the prada tapered cut ones are quite similar to those in fit, though those do look a tad dressier still. quite curious as to what exactly those are.
i'm also horribly jealous of that audemars piguet…
July 23, 2009 at 5:10 am
cool watch. It keeps the look casual with the slim jeans. Very summer chic indeed.

i think he just brought a tear to my eye.. so cute
July 23, 2009 at 6:03 pm
I'm not sure exactly what kind of jean he's wearing, but last year I bought a pair from Kenzo that fit exactly like you said. Also this year I bought a pair from Nudie and another from Helmut Lang that have that same slim but not too slim feel
July 23, 2009 at 10:36 pm
LOVE him! Love the wayfarers… love everything.
July 25, 2009 at 4:40 am
try Spurr pipe jeans which are nearly as slim a cut as michael bastian trousers which these look to be similar to. Additionally, new they have a beautiful deep blue.
July 25, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Great style!I can recommend the M.samuel model from Filippa k. It is slim but not too slim. Something in between APC new standard and new cure. The model is also slightly tapered and the waist quite high.I have found the model to be the perfect fit! Also better than the aforementioned APC models!
July 25, 2009 at 4:11 pm
Very suave combination, great embodiment of Italian style.

Wow, the jeans set off this look.
Nice colors going on here…modest and simple but makes a definite impact. And look at that watch!

Is he Paolo Conte?
July 28, 2009 at 9:08 pm
I love that showing some ankle with plimsols and slip-ons is the thing the last couple of years. We needed something to kill the sandal and there is no longer any excuse!
July 29, 2009 at 6:54 am
I grew up in a world where black Mocassins had no place in gentleman's wardrobe…nor a place for black jeans or black pants..I grew up in a world where diving watches were meant for diving and nothing else..Xavier

I know some people have some reservations of shopping at the Gap (maybe because it's considered a mall store?), but they currently relaunched their denim and they have a new fit for men. Try the "Authentic" -it's a slim fitting jean for the trendier shopper. If you couldn't tell, I work there. I know I sound like a commercial, but I wear Gap jeans now because I get a discount, but because I think they're better than some premium brands I have owned.
