Yes, a little over dramatic ;-)- but so authentic!
August 4, 2009 at 10:50 am
Love it! I feel the uniquely European fantastic theatre tradition of jesters , mimes and cirque coming through.
wow she's just great !!!Very nice mix!
August 4, 2009 at 10:51 am
She's on her own plane…and that jacket!! I need one in my life!!
August 4, 2009 at 10:53 am

August 4, 2009 at 10:59 am
She´s special!Do you know?.xx
Oh Dear Charlotte
August 4, 2009 at 11:12 am
she is my icon. i wish isabella blow had been able to live to this age and continued her own flair too.
August 4, 2009 at 11:18 am
She's just fantastic! Always fun to see what she will wear next!
August 4, 2009 at 11:20 am
I agree she does it in a way no one else could, so unabashed but at the same time honest. She's uber "couture". I could NEVER (nor would I even try) to pull off her look, but it definitely gives some yummy food for thought.
The jacket is genius.
August 4, 2009 at 11:25 am
hmm she is a character isnt she? i envy that she can so effortlessly wear such a, well, interesting outfit. ;)
August 4, 2009 at 11:27 am
Fashion's last eccentric?
Bibi in wonderland
August 4, 2009 at 11:31 am
Anna is so theatrical, but yet so true.. A real guru.
August 4, 2009 at 11:38 am
August 4, 2009 at 11:40 am
Lovely! Very dramatic. H&M actually has a jacket very similar to that one out now. At least in Stockholm.
August 4, 2009 at 11:42 am
Price tag and patterns aside, I really think that you can only look good in something you believe you look good in. This woman knows she looks good and her face says it all; "Go ahead. Try and tell me I don't look fantastic. See what happens."
August 4, 2009 at 11:54 am
August 4, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Chanel jacket… I could die for it!!!
August 4, 2009 at 12:11 pm
She dares to be herself, which I think is amazing. Her style is beyond Avantgarde.
August 4, 2009 at 12:14 pm
She may not be young in body but her outlook on life is fresh.
August 4, 2009 at 12:17 pm
She is much more than that!Anna Piaggi is also a lovely and kind lady!
August 4, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Rocking a handful of trends in ONE outfit. I need to try this!
August 4, 2009 at 12:29 pm
Yes! But the Jacket rules! I couldn't have gone without making a copy for my 'military jacket' themed blog – "Armed Beauty" (www.armedbeauty.blogspot.com). Thank you, SARTORIALIST!!!

She is so eclectic and so very theatrical! I adore her hats!:-)))
The Glamorous Housewife
August 4, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Seeing her makes me miss Isabella Blow all the more.
Thanks doll,The Glamorous Housewife
August 4, 2009 at 12:44 pm
Great look if you want to be mistaken for the bookkeeper at Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium on her lunch break…
August 4, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I've always loved this woman, I feel so stylistically repressed every time I see her. sigh.
August 4, 2009 at 12:56 pm
Oh Dear Charlotte, I was thinking the same thing… this woman made me wish we could've seen a lifetime more of Issy Blow!
August 4, 2009 at 12:57 pm
WHat does she do?
August 4, 2009 at 12:58 pm
She truly is the Mad Hatter! OTT for sure, but that's Anna1
August 4, 2009 at 1:01 pm
Love Anna Piaggi's eclectic and inspiring style! Her retrospective in London at V&A was amazing
August 4, 2009 at 1:02 pm
I just adore Anna
August 4, 2009 at 1:06 pm
She looks like she could be a character from one of Hayao Miyazaki's cartoons. Very interesting look!
August 4, 2009 at 1:08 pm
aww, she's such an extravaganza i ADORE her. i don't think she's dramatic, i actually believe she's one of the last people in the fashion industry to be wearing what they love wearing and have their own little history of style! i've seen her at the chanel boutique she was stunning such an amazing icon and beautiful creature. continue inspiring us anna!
August 4, 2009 at 1:21 pm
Wow, she put together everything what's possible: Westwood, Galliano and Dior and stuf… really special…
August 4, 2009 at 1:39 pm
i love her turqoise and gold-tipped cane! and the admiral jacket is pretty awesome – only she could rock this look and pull it off :)
August 4, 2009 at 1:53 pm
I can only hope to be so creative and free at her age!
August 4, 2009 at 1:55 pm
she wears it well. on anybody else it would be weird, but on her it's just.. natural :)
August 4, 2009 at 2:04 pm
The blue walking stick is ace. Can we have a series of Icons Over 50 please?
August 4, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Dude, she's a circus clown. But I love it.
JouJou Loves You
August 4, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I don't find her dramatic…I consider her to be a true artist. Most people wouldn't even have the guts or know how to put something like this together…let alone actually wear it. True art is when we create things others cannot…or would not.
August 4, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Talk about someone that embraces her own unique style sense…You've got to love it…it makes me happy
August 4, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Interesting and eccentric, yes. But the work that went into putting together this assemblage is blatantly evident–and that, in turn, exhibits a lack of a certain je nais sais qua.The tilt of the hat is wonderfully amusing, though–as is the bright cupid's bow mouth.
August 4, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Anna's nothing but perfect, from the top of her hat the soles of her shoes!
August 4, 2009 at 3:19 pm
She's just so damn cool.
She reminds me of a theatre and/or drama teacher/lecturer. As a student for so many years I've come to realise that teachers of the arts are always the most sartorial.xxx
August 4, 2009 at 3:29 pm
I am reminded of Vivienne Westwood. Sharp & bold.
August 4, 2009 at 3:34 pm
i can't wait for roisin murphy to age a few decades
August 4, 2009 at 3:51 pm
Rowdy and Chic...
August 4, 2009 at 3:56 pm
It may be dramatic, but you cannot deny that the jacket is tres chic, n'est-ce pas?
August 4, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Dear God!There's something about this that reminds of a Cockney King or Queen.
August 4, 2009 at 4:37 pm
La Piaggi…does it get any better? I think not.
August 4, 2009 at 5:03 pm
AMAZING. what a dame
betsy and iya
August 4, 2009 at 5:13 pm

August 4, 2009 at 5:46 pm
I Love it, she dne well
August 4, 2009 at 5:56 pm
In the words of Rachel Zoe: "Bananas but I die"…
August 4, 2009 at 6:17 pm
I love Anna Piaggi – fearless & artistic. She wears characters, esp love her French & Italian Poiret looks.
August 4, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Unbelievable! She's truly one of a kind! :)xx
August 4, 2009 at 6:40 pm
More power to her! :)
August 4, 2009 at 7:04 pm
When I see her, I do not enjoy her appearance. Am I the only person on the planet who thinks this? At the same time, I applaud Anna Piaggi (and all others) for wearing what makes them feel wonderful and alive.
August 4, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Whoa! This woman is so out of control! But its quite the fun look! =P
August 4, 2009 at 7:39 pm
over the top never looked so damn good.
August 4, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Camp without the campiness. Great.
August 4, 2009 at 7:52 pm
what a legend!
August 4, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Lovely. She looks like Miss Haversham from the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations, who didn't sit around waiting in her wedding dress, but got out and about the city looking fab.
August 4, 2009 at 8:49 pm
she's magnificent. thank you.
August 4, 2009 at 9:13 pm
Confidence… you can wear anything, no matter what if you have confidence. This is what she has & portrays without any question.
Naka and Raj
August 4, 2009 at 9:52 pm

August 5, 2009 at 4:17 am
She does this well! Polka and military is so darn cool!
August 5, 2009 at 5:12 am
August 5, 2009 at 5:58 am
Yeah, there's a bit of Anna Piaggi in all of us. There's also a bit of that stare in all of us which down in the streets could frighten the horses.
August 5, 2009 at 7:05 am
Seperate each piece anyone can wear, but all put together only someone of unshakable confidence and artistic flare could wear these clothes and maintain the air of an aristocrat. Well done dear.http://www.zazzle.com/alloamora*.
August 5, 2009 at 10:01 am
She's a character.
August 5, 2009 at 10:38 am
I would just kill to see her closet – Anna Piaggi is always superb.
August 5, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I love that her outfits are never something that you quickly glance at; they deserve a nice long stare to truly appreciate the thought that goes into putting them together.
August 5, 2009 at 4:05 pm
she's a "vintage" version of betsy johnson (or perhaps boy george?? :)
August 5, 2009 at 5:31 pm
The circus is in town. Awe hell, she is happy. Maybe we can learn something?
August 5, 2009 at 8:36 pm
All older women should dress like her.
August 5, 2009 at 8:37 pm
there is no such thing as over dramatic. I hope I have this much sass when I'm that old.
August 5, 2009 at 8:38 pm
and ps. absolutely YES to whoever said she looks like a miyazaki character! a very old spirit of questionable morals…
August 5, 2009 at 10:49 pm
August 5, 2009 at 11:07 pm
This is a joke right? Cirque De Soile is calling her. I am sure she is a lovely lady and a daring one but I would be concerned if my grandmother went out of the house like that, I would have to consider the medication she is taking.
August 6, 2009 at 12:51 am
Nice to know she recycles her hats– I took this one of her 2 years ago in Paris:
August 6, 2009 at 2:17 am
jamais ce trop pour une vrai icon…!
August 6, 2009 at 6:04 am
It's a bit too Cirque Du Soleil cast-member for my liking, but without a doubt evokes a smile!
August 6, 2009 at 6:46 am
I'm imagine her with LADUREE macaroons :)
August 6, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Someone stole my polkadots!

August 7, 2009 at 1:50 pm
A Sartolialist pic to be remembered.
August 7, 2009 at 3:12 pm
I totally agree with ohdearcharlotte – this is Isabella Blow if she had lived to this age. Far too over the top for me – she just looks ridiculous. She's not chic and her makeup is horrific. But she's daring, and is obviously confident in her eccentricity, so full marks for that.
August 7, 2009 at 4:51 pm
it's so great to see someone who dresses for themselves- she obviously has fun with style and doesn't care what people think. and the hat and makeup are fantastic!
August 7, 2009 at 7:29 pm
it's a costume for a role she plays. but it isn't clothing.
August 7, 2009 at 7:35 pm
um, WHERE can i find a hat like that ?
Lucy in the Sky
August 7, 2009 at 8:05 pm
I remember seeing her on the 20/20 segment with Anna Wintour. it was kind of sad, the interviewer mocked those who dressed as you said "over-dramatic" but hello, it's fashion. she doesn't look pretentious and overdone which can't be said for many people nowadays.
August 7, 2009 at 9:20 pm
there is only one anna piaggi
August 7, 2009 at 10:51 pm
someone forgot her meds again
August 8, 2009 at 12:08 am
She is perfect because she is true to herself, much as Edith Sitwell was. I do love me an eccentric dame.
August 8, 2009 at 7:48 am
Love love love that hat!And the mix of the polka dots and the leopard print bag etc is wonderful.
August 8, 2009 at 9:25 am
J'adore her! Talk about "individual stye"! she is fearless. she's my fairy godmother…seriously!
August 8, 2009 at 5:30 pm
She really is phenomenal. I love how this is her look and it stays with her. No-one else can emulate this.

It's the emperor's new clothes all over again.
August 13, 2009 at 2:50 am
She is such a popular photo op in the fashion world…but does this woman ever look like she's enjoying the attention she obviously takes such pains to attract? She always looks like she's never having any fun! Her face is always so dour. Whenever I see her I wonder: "What is this woman actually about, anyway?!"
August 19, 2009 at 3:53 pm
September 3, 2009 at 4:38 am
I LOVE ANNA BUT CAN'T MEMORIZE A SINGLE OUTFIT.SHE ALWAYS LOOKS THE SAME.
September 20, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Fantastic to see Anna being Anna.Memories of a great dinner with her and Vern Lambert in Verns basement apartment in Milan. Both beautiful friendly souls, Anna wearing a Jenny Kee ensemble to make us feel at home (Aussies). The most amazing collection of fashion I had ever seen covered the walls, floors, beds throughout the apartment – incredible. RIP Vern.Paul – Adelaide
October 29, 2009 at 9:03 am
I think her best style trait is the fact that she's unafraid to be herself. Her look is very studied and shows care for her personality and personal expression. I admire her for wearing herself on her sleeve as it were.
August 8, 2012 at 1:47 am
Rest in peace. You will be missed.
