That bike is perfect!

Such a great dress! I love the colors.
Oh Dear Charlotte

August 20, 2009 at 9:57 am
what a cool tie-dye/batiky print! minus the flip-flops, that's probably the perfect biking outfit for a hot, sticky day…

Yes. Love the bright toenails agains the blue flip-flops. Her handbag seems to be a Bottega Veneta- it very subtly lets you know she is roughing it but she may not have to. Jorge from WPB
August 20, 2009 at 10:03 am
She looks lovely!!!!
August 20, 2009 at 10:06 am
so personal and so carefree….sometimes you dont need fashionable clothing to be stylish….just need to be yourself!
August 20, 2009 at 10:08 am
Love how relaxed she is! cute!
August 20, 2009 at 10:09 am
what a perfect dress for a lazy day.

Love the print on that dress! Easy breezy!http://rafeloves.rafe.com
August 20, 2009 at 10:30 am
She's gorgeous! Love her stance, pony tail and bangs, white skin, the red in the background (the stop light, reflection in the window, and on the sidewalk) and the scaffolding!
August 20, 2009 at 10:40 am
What a lovely little dress.Plus I love the colours of the footwear and (toe)nailpolish with it.
August 20, 2009 at 10:51 am
I really hate flip-flops, always have.
August 20, 2009 at 11:00 am
perfect cut of the dress where the front rides slightly higher, yet still possesses an unintentional quality.
August 20, 2009 at 11:16 am
great legs. where are her pants or shorts or something?
August 20, 2009 at 11:44 am
I think that's my friend horsey. She's an all-around fantastic lady.
August 20, 2009 at 11:48 am
There's somthing magical about a fashionable girl riding an old fashioned bike!
August 20, 2009 at 11:49 am
This outfit is brutal.I can barely look at it.
August 20, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Love this! It's such an easy outfit yet it still looks very stylish!
August 20, 2009 at 12:31 pm
she is wearing american apparel… are you joking.
August 20, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Not loving the flip flops here, I personally feel a pump would've gone better.
August 20, 2009 at 1:24 pm
ahhh if only i could go about my day on a bike.i'd be such a happy girl.
August 20, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I'm dissapointed by her shoes…the flip-flops make the look plain..altough I like her nail polish :-)
August 20, 2009 at 1:59 pm
i'm surprised this is stylish in your opinion. at least she looks cool on a hot day. i really don't care for the look – liked the one of the girl with the dog a few pictures back. her dress and sandals are similar colors but WAY more chic.
August 20, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Fantastic! Good to know that it's Summer SOMEWHERE
August 20, 2009 at 2:34 pm
i love everything except the shoes. she looks great and i'm obsessed with the bike and dress!
August 20, 2009 at 2:40 pm
cute outfit…but not functional at all, esp. b/c she's riding a bike!
August 20, 2009 at 2:47 pm
I'm the odd one out here but I don't like it. Her ponytail is messy and when she carries her bottega bag I think it's too heavy for her look. The dress is a little boxy for me, too. Love the photo though.
August 20, 2009 at 2:59 pm
i love the flip flops.
August 20, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Such a simple, lovely summer getup. There are some really great ones featured on http://whowhatwear.com today… I'll miss sunny days.
August 20, 2009 at 3:35 pm
I'm surprised no one has commented on the inadvisability of not wearing a helmet and using headphones while riding one's bike. Especially in city traffic.
August 20, 2009 at 3:38 pm
I can't believe someone suggested she wear pumps with this.
August 20, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Sometimes the most random ingredients combine to make the most delightful recipe!
August 20, 2009 at 4:26 pm
This is the kind of shot which makes me long for summer…not too long till we in NZ get to bare our feet and shoulders. Loved the shot recently of a gal in a similar colour – must be the season of eye popping blues, which makes me very happy indeed

August 20, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Like her Bike, i want one!
August 20, 2009 at 5:28 pm
I'm amazed at how many people on your site hate flip flops. They are de rigueur here in San Diego and So. California. I see outfits like this every day and I think she's very stylish. Now I know why people in Chicago kept asking me why I was wearing my bath shoes out in public.
August 20, 2009 at 5:39 pm
Sorry, but you just stumbled on one of my big no-nos……….flip-flops outside of the beach.
August 20, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Sorry – you've lost me on this one.I love the flip-flops (or 'thongs' as we call them here in Oz) but the dress looks kinda cheap to me.However, that said – i do like the colours in the print. It's just the combination of print and shape that doesn't really grab.
Also – I agree with Dear Charlotte – come back to Oz!!! And quickly!!
August 20, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Great dress! Hippy hippy shake :)
August 20, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Oo no – flip flops, jandals, thongs, whatever you like to call them make everything look effortless, surely the definition of stylish in summer?
August 20, 2009 at 7:37 pm
I like the photo but not the outfit. I'd buy one of those antique-looking bikes, though.
August 20, 2009 at 8:48 pm
its good….not very creative. but i admire anyone who can ride a bike in a dress :)
Work it, Berk

August 20, 2009 at 9:13 pm
why flip-flops? why do people wear such ugly, noisy things on their feet?i hate it!
August 20, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I love wearing dresses and riding bikes while listening to music.I just know she's happy!
August 20, 2009 at 10:29 pm
She doth look very plain.
August 20, 2009 at 10:51 pm
CRAZY ABOUT BIKES TOO… SO LIGHT
August 20, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Second flip flop in as many days. It just doesn't seem sartorial to me.
August 21, 2009 at 2:15 am
she looks like she's beautiful, but the fashion or the style – it's nothing outstanding nor arresting.
August 21, 2009 at 3:08 am
Nah…I don't like it.
August 21, 2009 at 3:10 am
Blue slippers, any color slippers, are never out of place in the heat! So nice with her flirty dress too.
President Obama and family are generating new attention/interest in Hawaiian Island style clothing.
August 21, 2009 at 4:58 am
love the colours of this dress x

August 21, 2009 at 5:36 am
Nice Images. I liked it.
August 21, 2009 at 7:16 am
Dress has nice print and coloring, like the classic bike design.
August 21, 2009 at 7:32 am
here the flip flops look pretty. They're a fresh pair. Her toes are a happy summer color.
She might be wearing them because she clearly hurt her left foot. Hope she feels better
August 21, 2009 at 8:35 am
I like the shape and form of the dress, but not feeling the print. It reminds me of a bad Hawiian shirt. Cute gal though!
August 21, 2009 at 10:57 am
i don't get it. why do people oppose the flip-flop? most everyone has them, they are like blue jeans- common, standard, understood.
August 21, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Flip-flops are essential in NYC. I always keep a pair in my bag and they have saved many a pair of expensive shoes from destructive subway grates, cobblestones, and rain. New Yorkers walk several miles a day and even in the most broken in pumps you can end up with blisters and sore feet. The people who are opposed to flip-flops must live in places where walking is uncommon— or they get chauffeured everywhere. Flip-flops are practical and comfortable. Great photo.
August 21, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Some people that comment on your blog are so high and mighty. It saddens me. I think she looks cute and fresh, and anything that keeps one cool in the heat we've had in NYC lately is ok by me.
I also like her bike. And wish she had a helmet to add to her outfit
August 21, 2009 at 7:16 pm
I agree with Catherine! I live in Paris, and walk hours and hours every day. Besides that we just had a few weeks hot weather, and I don't understand why I should destroy my favorite pumps or high heels, and hardly suffer with (or without) blisters.
Ok, flip-flop aren't the most beautiful thing in the world (every day I see so many tourists in Paris, wearing awfully over-worn plastic thongs) but actually, I believe this young lady didn't guess that morning, that she would have been taken on picture and put on an international fashion blog… so that isn't that drammatic.
Let's say the truth: when you go downstairs, hot summer weather, just to buy some bread, do you really wear high heels? If so, that would be ridiculous in my eyes.
I think, this lady is beautiful, and she looks elegant because of her "non-chalence" and simplicity.
August 21, 2009 at 8:22 pm
The people who are opposed to flip-flops must live in places where walking is uncommon…
Regardless of what one thinks of flip-flops being stylish, or not, they are most definitely not a walking shoe.
August 22, 2009 at 1:33 am
I really don't get it…
August 22, 2009 at 4:14 am
Yeah why would she wear flips flops?
Because knee high slouchy boots in black leather would be much more appropriate on this same 90 degree day right?
Or maybe 6 inch stiletto sandals bedazzled in Swarovski crystals would be better to bike with?
She should've just gone with Uggs or mukluks made with alpaca hair. They're much more chic.
(The following was an obvious case of sarcasm)

the photo is great but i don't like her dress..for me it looks too much like batik..but i like her nail polish:)
August 22, 2009 at 1:41 pm
I do like the colors of this dress, but this outfit is completely impractical for bicycling. It would be more appropriate for the beach. She's going to hurt her feet trying to bike in flip flops. Not a wise choice of footwear.
August 22, 2009 at 3:15 pm
hahahha! This is my favorite ex-girlfriend ever….love you H :)
…and all the flip flop haters, get over yourselves. Don't think for a second that she doesn't have a closet full of hot footwear for when the biking is done ;)
August 22, 2009 at 6:00 pm
bikes and batik… a beautiful one at that. breathes summer, freely…
August 22, 2009 at 8:05 pm
this is so unlike your great outfits. it's so ordinary like from the mall.
August 23, 2009 at 5:54 am
She is lucky: very pretty. That dress on me would be so cheap. the thing is that when you are young and beautiful you can wear whatever you like… even flip flops!
August 23, 2009 at 11:55 am
i like her nail polish… haha! she looks great
August 23, 2009 at 2:54 pm
I absolutely LOVE this. She seems really casual and as if she put no effort into her outfit. Yet it looks so well put together. I think the bike is what makes it so cool. But I absolutely love the dress.
August 23, 2009 at 4:13 pm
AM from CA…she could have worn flat moccasins or ballet slippers. Just saying. There is another option. I would have worn flip flops though. Who wants sweaty feet? The people who are so judgemental about flip flops SERIOUSLY need to get over themselves…hmmm, I wonder when the last time you were photographed for your great street style was?
August 23, 2009 at 6:52 pm
Maybe she just got a pedicure?
August 23, 2009 at 7:44 pm
why? sometimes i wish there was an explanation.
August 23, 2009 at 7:51 pm
once again i will say, as the unofficial flip flop queen – i think a lovely dress like this, in fact it could even be a 'fancier' dress, worn with a pair of flip flops is absolute casual perfection.
The Higher Common Sense
August 24, 2009 at 12:42 am
I do not get this at all. The fact of being a cute girl with a bike is not good enough, there are lots of 'em in NYC. I feel like the post right before this one is the done-right version of this outfit (i.e. the shoes are same color, just as bare but REAL shoes; deliberate but carefree hair; and a flattering dress. Same elements but better).
August 24, 2009 at 3:03 am
I love how simple but great she looks!!!
August 24, 2009 at 2:42 pm
i've worn flip-flops in LA for over 40 years. i don't think of them as any different from the strappy leather sandals i have – just a different look and different colors. i am amazed at the disgust for flip-flops here. maybe it's a california/florida thing?
and yeah – flip-flops CAN be walking shoes if you buy the kind that have a shaped sole.
August 24, 2009 at 9:36 pm
love it!! so cute
August 25, 2009 at 12:59 am
LOVE THE DRESS!!!!!!!!! so much.
August 25, 2009 at 12:28 pm
Elizabeth I agree with you…I think the flipflops makes the effect of her style that she is intending for her outing
August 26, 2009 at 7:16 am
August 26, 2009 at 10:21 pm
I don't like this outfit very much. The dress is incredibly short in the front and I'm not a big fan of flipflops being worn on the street.
August 29, 2009 at 12:12 pm
i hate the flip flops
September 4, 2009 at 8:53 pm
I reckon this girl does yoga. Cycling + yoga = great legs, great attitude… The clothes are superfluous.
September 5, 2009 at 10:23 am
Silence haters! My homegirl H-money here slays 99.9% of ladies on the planet with her steez… and that includes the fashion focused couture enslaved fash-bots that clutter our NYC canyons… it's funny that this is the shot that made it here cause she's goin real easy on you guys with this look. She's just someone that pulls it off and puts it together with natural ease and it never looks like she's trying. So regardless of your stance on flip flops, respect the gangsta of someone who makes it look easy, and somehow sexy at all times. PS – i've yet to meet an aussie gal with great style… if they exist, please educate!
September 6, 2009 at 10:45 am
Love that dress!!!
September 8, 2009 at 10:45 pm
The dress is cute on its own – paired with the flip flops it seems like a cover up one might throw on at the campground on the way to the bath house. Somehow I can't look at flip flops without thinking of public showers…
September 11, 2009 at 9:40 pm
its a pretty casual look but i like it
November 26, 2009 at 12:21 am
plastic shoes ? why ?
August 7, 2010 at 8:19 am
I like that shoes thanks for sharing that I am shoes lover and I have craze for shoes I love to ready about shoes

I must say that this picture depicts simplicity yet a lot of impression. Just like what most people say, a picture paints thousand words.

Such a Great Dress I Love the Color. :)
