Yes. Love the bright toenails agains the blue flip-flops. Her handbag seems to be a Bottega Veneta- it very subtly lets you know she is roughing it but she may not have to. Jorge from WPB
She's gorgeous! Love her stance, pony tail and bangs, white skin, the red in the background (the stop light, reflection in the window, and on the sidewalk) and the scaffolding!
i'm surprised this is stylish in your opinion. at least she looks cool on a hot day. i really don't care for the look – liked the one of the girl with the dog a few pictures back. her dress and sandals are similar colors but WAY more chic.
I'm the odd one out here but I don't like it. Her ponytail is messy and when she carries her bottega bag I think it's too heavy for her look. The dress is a little boxy for me, too. Love the photo though.
I'm surprised no one has commented on the inadvisability of not wearing a helmet and using headphones while riding one's bike. Especially in city traffic.
This is the kind of shot which makes me long for summer…not too long till we in NZ get to bare our feet and shoulders. Loved the shot recently of a gal in a similar colour – must be the season of eye popping blues, which makes me very happy indeed
I'm amazed at how many people on your site hate flip flops. They are de rigueur here in San Diego and So. California. I see outfits like this every day and I think she's very stylish. Now I know why people in Chicago kept asking me why I was wearing my bath shoes out in public.
Sorry – you've lost me on this one. I love the flip-flops (or 'thongs' as we call them here in Oz) but the dress looks kinda cheap to me. However, that said – i do like the colours in the print. It's just the combination of print and shape that doesn't really grab.
Also – I agree with Dear Charlotte – come back to Oz!!! And quickly!!
Flip-flops are essential in NYC. I always keep a pair in my bag and they have saved many a pair of expensive shoes from destructive subway grates, cobblestones, and rain. New Yorkers walk several miles a day and even in the most broken in pumps you can end up with blisters and sore feet. The people who are opposed to flip-flops must live in places where walking is uncommon— or they get chauffeured everywhere. Flip-flops are practical and comfortable. Great photo.
Some people that comment on your blog are so high and mighty. It saddens me. I think she looks cute and fresh, and anything that keeps one cool in the heat we've had in NYC lately is ok by me.
I also like her bike. And wish she had a helmet to add to her outfit
I agree with Catherine! I live in Paris, and walk hours and hours every day. Besides that we just had a few weeks hot weather, and I don't understand why I should destroy my favorite pumps or high heels, and hardly suffer with (or without) blisters.
Ok, flip-flop aren't the most beautiful thing in the world (every day I see so many tourists in Paris, wearing awfully over-worn plastic thongs) but actually, I believe this young lady didn't guess that morning, that she would have been taken on picture and put on an international fashion blog… so that isn't that drammatic.
Let's say the truth: when you go downstairs, hot summer weather, just to buy some bread, do you really wear high heels? If so, that would be ridiculous in my eyes.
I think, this lady is beautiful, and she looks elegant because of her "non-chalence" and simplicity.
I do like the colors of this dress, but this outfit is completely impractical for bicycling. It would be more appropriate for the beach. She's going to hurt her feet trying to bike in flip flops. Not a wise choice of footwear.
hahahha! This is my favorite ex-girlfriend ever….love you H :)
…and all the flip flop haters, get over yourselves. Don't think for a second that she doesn't have a closet full of hot footwear for when the biking is done ;)
She is lucky: very pretty. That dress on me would be so cheap. the thing is that when you are young and beautiful you can wear whatever you like… even flip flops!
I absolutely LOVE this. She seems really casual and as if she put no effort into her outfit. Yet it looks so well put together. I think the bike is what makes it so cool. But I absolutely love the dress.
AM from CA…she could have worn flat moccasins or ballet slippers. Just saying. There is another option. I would have worn flip flops though. Who wants sweaty feet? The people who are so judgemental about flip flops SERIOUSLY need to get over themselves…hmmm, I wonder when the last time you were photographed for your great street style was?
once again i will say, as the unofficial flip flop queen – i think a lovely dress like this, in fact it could even be a 'fancier' dress, worn with a pair of flip flops is absolute casual perfection.
I do not get this at all. The fact of being a cute girl with a bike is not good enough, there are lots of 'em in NYC. I feel like the post right before this one is the done-right version of this outfit (i.e. the shoes are same color, just as bare but REAL shoes; deliberate but carefree hair; and a flattering dress. Same elements but better).
i've worn flip-flops in LA for over 40 years. i don't think of them as any different from the strappy leather sandals i have – just a different look and different colors. i am amazed at the disgust for flip-flops here. maybe it's a california/florida thing?
and yeah – flip-flops CAN be walking shoes if you buy the kind that have a shaped sole.
Silence haters! My homegirl H-money here slays 99.9% of ladies on the planet with her steez… and that includes the fashion focused couture enslaved fash-bots that clutter our NYC canyons… it's funny that this is the shot that made it here cause she's goin real easy on you guys with this look. She's just someone that pulls it off and puts it together with natural ease and it never looks like she's trying. So regardless of your stance on flip flops, respect the gangsta of someone who makes it look easy, and somehow sexy at all times. PS – i've yet to meet an aussie gal with great style… if they exist, please educate!
The dress is cute on its own – paired with the flip flops it seems like a cover up one might throw on at the campground on the way to the bath house. Somehow I can't look at flip flops without thinking of public showers…

Yeah why would she wear flips flops?
Because knee high slouchy boots in black leather would be much more appropriate on this same 90 degree day right?
Or maybe 6 inch stiletto sandals bedazzled in Swarovski crystals would be better to bike with?
She should've just gone with Uggs or mukluks made with alpaca hair. They're much more chic.
