September 19, 2009 at 9:47 am
How long has he been carrying around that Louis shopping bag?
September 19, 2009 at 9:51 am
I am sensing there is a purpose of that old paper vuitton bag at the centre of the photo
September 19, 2009 at 9:55 am
What a beautiful jawline!
September 19, 2009 at 9:56 am

Would love this so much more sans rumpled paper bag…
September 19, 2009 at 10:06 am
I loveee that the LV bag is crinkled. The cream blazer looks insane on the his skin and that red ring is the perfect (for lack of better vocabulary) "pop" of color.Love.
September 19, 2009 at 10:14 am
LV, you don´t know the word evolution?what do you think about this?
the laceless brogues, the gatsby cap, the rolled up jeans… the fact that the the LV shopping bag is on it's last go-round…I LOVE this for so many reasons. but as much as I adore a random accessory, the ring takes away from the effortlessness of it all…it's a bit too contrived. although surely many will probably love it.
September 19, 2009 at 10:21 am
funny. looks like the bag as been used a couple of time before.
use over time does make the bag better, leather or paper. LOVE IT!
September 19, 2009 at 10:44 am
Funny – I keep & use my LV paper bags too!

September 19, 2009 at 12:58 pm

September 19, 2009 at 12:59 pm

I can't help it, but those chairs are wonderful. They remind me of the parks in Paris.
September 19, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Trying a little too hard (in several different ways) for me…
September 19, 2009 at 1:16 pm
The handles on the bag look beautifully worn in!
September 19, 2009 at 1:20 pm
September 19, 2009 at 1:26 pm
The 3 finger ring adds a certain youthfulness to this young man's "Grown up" look.
September 19, 2009 at 1:32 pm
This young man is trying too hard. Good cheek structure, though.
September 19, 2009 at 1:43 pm
ahhh the androg.like the use of the tatty shopping bag and the stained grips on the speedy duffle. both shout,"It's real LV."
September 19, 2009 at 2:43 pm
Don´t care about Vuitton, i care about THAT ring…!NL.
September 19, 2009 at 2:56 pm

That's just a chic, eye-catching ensemble, through and through. I love the white blazer, laceless shoes, distressed jeans, pageboy cap…and, of course, the Vuitton! Perfect.

September 19, 2009 at 10:24 pm
What's with the ring pop?
September 19, 2009 at 11:22 pm
love his style, could care less that he has a LV bag. not one to care about labels, and so many people have that signature brown 'lv' leather bag… i fail to call that part of his style unique.
the undone laces, cream blazer and rolled up jeans? awesome
September 19, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Carrying around an old LV shopping bag for the name on it is ridiculous: he is trying way too hard; and the people lapping it up (in this very comment section) are falling for utter superficiality.
Ignoring all the tacky Louis, I do quite like the style of his actual clothing.
September 20, 2009 at 12:08 am
The ring is from a company by the name of RomeingPanda.
September 20, 2009 at 2:43 am
Double the Louis!
September 20, 2009 at 3:04 am
Your subject is beautiful, and he (or she) clearly has a cool sensibility, but it's too bad his (or her) taste for understatement didn't extend to the bags. The repeating LV logo is a cry for strangers' esteem, and the rumpled old bag is just sad.
That's packaging; it's trash. Save it for moving day or throw it away.
September 20, 2009 at 4:06 am
Can you guys really tell from a photo that it is an authentic LV bag, as opposed to the hundreds of similar cheap imitations you can find in markets around the world. I am really curious, since when I see a bag like this, or something else with a big label, I feel like the originals have lost the charm due to the imitations, whereas it could have gone the other way- the originals could have gained in value since there are so many imitations…
this photo of course has nothing to do with the LV and is beautiful for the browns and the face of the man/boy. To me it is interesting because the figure of the man, the cap, etc. triggers some vague association with colonialism/slavery, and the LV bags indicate an upward mobility, having made it, shown in the affinity for big names. If it is a real one, then he is rich, if it is a fake, he is aspiring. And the whole thing is so subtle that someone else might see something entirely different. hmm, interesting..- a bit puzzled

He is simply beautiful. He makes me want to switch to portrait photography, I'm serious. I love the look in his eye, the way that he's owning those chairs. This person, his style, LOVE.I currently live in Seoul (the land of Louis Vuitton fake and real) so I'm not impressed by LV at all.
No shade Pharrell, but with all his millions he wishes that he could pull off half the style that this young man is giving us for free.

Beautiful! I love how the jacket adds a touch of "cream" to his coffee like complexion! As for the "worn out bag", it's the perfect match to his aged jeans and he's re-using material instead of tossing it. This shot is golden!
September 20, 2009 at 11:38 am
The ring is made out of Lucite gummy bears by ROMEingPANDA..their stuff is crazy!!http://www.romeingpanda.com
love this shot

I used to live near the avenue George V in Paris and some of the neighborhood homeless people would regularly use Louis Vuitton cardboard bags as sidewalk mattresses. I could only attribute that to a particular local ecosystem : the proximity of the flagship LV shop, the thickness and durability of the LV shopping bags (I totally concur), and the behaviour of Japanese customers, who tend to consolidate all their purchases in a single bag before moving on to avenue Montaigne (there used to be a line of Japanese tourists at 9am in front of LV on Tuesdays, that's how I know they start off with LV – guess there was a weekly Tokyo flight). Anyway, some public trashbins in the neighborhood are filled with a mix of McDonald's wrappings and Louis Vuitton brown, thick and neatly folded shopping bags.

If you are gonna hang out in the park at least do it in style ;>)
September 20, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Gorgeous!!!! I love that people can't tell if this is a female or male….absolutely stunningly stylish…. BEAUTIFUl. This is how the so called beautiful people of New York attending fashion week wished they looked- just a cap and some jeans- perfect …. without trying….Louis Vuitton should take note and use beautiful people as this in their campaigns, it may even inspire me to buy their products…… The shot is great it looks like an advertisement- but not contribed .. just shot with the brilliance os only scott can capture

Anon 4.06, I know what you mean. This image is fascinating to unpick for its cultural resonance. Outside the current trend for invisible socks, sockless, laceless shoes speak of poverty; the cap speaks of working class history; reusing a bag speaks of working (or now not-working) class thrift. Yet it seems clear that this young man is not poor. The ring in this context speaks of the flash style best done, knowingly, by black people, yet the cream blazer and leather shoes exude class in any culture. The LV duffle bag appears to be real, with its worn leather handle speaking of upperclass use over decades, but the brand has been so debased by imitation and ubiquity that it can no longer speak of tone, only wealth. And when placed next to the carry bag we are further confused by how we are supposed to regard the item. I think this handsome young man has put this ensemble together in the most sophisticated way to challenge our ideas of who wears what, how we can juxtapose items to add and subtract value and what the clothes and accessories actually mean. It an absolutely bravura performance.

Its all about his face !

Im split down the middle. Yes it is a gorgeous picture, the browns in his shoes, and the bags, and his skin, its all lovely and it makes me want chocolate. But I dont know if its just me, I am tired of seeing labels. I dont think showing off labels makes anyone look expensive. My mother told me never to own a LV bag because she said all the street walkers in 1970s new york had either fake or real ones.
September 21, 2009 at 10:15 am
Unbelievable co-ordination. The red plastic ring with that cream blazer really makes the ensemble look whole.

Someone praised everything but his ring. I'll take the ring, but he needs to lose the LV; it screams "Paris is Burning." I like the shoes and lack of laces.Handsome fellow, nicely put together, nice pose & great shot. Walking along the street and seeing a guy turned out like this – even with the damned LV – would make me smile.

Hi so this is me (DeAndre DaCosta) in the picture. The photographer spotted my after a long show at the tents in Central park. I went shopping earlier in the day and the rain added to the bag becoming "distressed". To be honest i actually hated the way i looked on this day. Thanks Sartorialist for this beautiful image…P.S i am a boy!
