He is like the father christmas of Ralph Lauren…I work in the Bleecker Street boutiques and his store visits are SO eagerly anticipated. He's truly a legend in the vintage world..brilliant at what he does.
He does look like a sailor. That was my first thought before I opened the comments. He looks like some captain of a boat. haha. He is cool and confident, like he came outta some old novel!
I love seeing someone with style completely their own who's not one of the usual 20-somethings. Good style doesn't have an expiration date, and this man proves it! Love his smile too. He must be great to work with… lucky Lauren staff!
I have a jacket just like that , but he is a higher rank than myself. After seeing this pic I pulled it out to make sure it still fits (and it does) …..as always, I thank you for the inspiration
Fantastic – his happiness is contagious – and I love the contrast between that lush jacket and the hand-made quality of the leather strap across his body.
Ahoy, me hearties… Yarrr… I be scrapin' the bottom of me barrel for me last doubloons. The lass at RL charg'd me four pieces for the jacket but I got three left in me pocket. Shiver me timbers… Yarrr… Now I be looking like a gentleman o' fortune and right scallywag fit for swashbucklin' ye sprogs on the high seas. YARRRR!!!
I'm not going to lie…I never seem to understand the man who seems slightly unkempt hygienically and yet dresses so well. Someone solve the mystery for me?
i love people who actually wear their clothing and let it become a part of them. i get so tired of looking at near perfect specimins of human kind in ads. i love seeing what real people do and it inspires me to continue to make my wardrobe a reflection of my personal story.
My girlfriend says this is how I will look in 30years. She doesn't realise it is more like 20. This is the RL chap? He is front and centre at the Spring 2010 RL show. Kind of blended in as well.
I really love Doug's look. He always is so inspiring… I also like that his name is also Doug. Obviouley he knows whats up…. Wonderful photograph, refreshing and honest. Good work.
Luckely, I have exactly the same jacket, the brand is Comme Ca de Halles Paris:) Good luck finding it since my mother bought it in paris 20 years ago:P
Fun. I think one of the things missing sometimes from those who go to fashion week is the pure joy of really just putting things together, and not be so self conscious. After all, that's the epitome of style, isn't it?

I love this man, and all of the photographs you have taken of him, Scott!
He always makes me smile…
…he sort of looks like the lost member of Coldplay in this outfit.
I betcha Coldplay would be a better band if he was indeed a lost member ;)
