such a katie girl! love it from the hair down to the matching shoes.
Garance just seems to radiate happiness and fun. The clothes matter, of course, but her smile is absolutely her best accessory! From her photos and writing, she must be a great companion.

October 3, 2009 at 1:24 pm
As always, so so so lovely. Her shoes are beautiful, I love their color and masculine quality. What's also great to me is how comfortable she looks! It's frustrating when people are well dressed, but so stiff looking!
October 3, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Love the oxfords and the smile! But, wait. Garance in flats? Quite unexpected, yet totally stylish!

Her shoes are awesome! Menly shoes on women are the best. I wear shoes like that every day and I hope I can do it the rest of my life.
And just to add that she is fabulous!
Nice shoes. I love the healthiness of the brown.

October 3, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I love your pictures and your aesthetic but honestly not loving the pictures of your girlfriend. You (justifiably) may be inspired by her personally, but as a stranger I don't see how this photo is inspiring in any way. To me, it seems like you're enamored with your girlfriend and that bias is clouding your usually on point eye.
September 30, 2012 at 4:51 pm
mmmmm, slight detection of sour grapes, perhaps? why shouldn’t he think his own girlfriend is stylish, since she caught his eye, stylistically, before she was his girlfriend? and, the brogues/monk strap
shoes are certainly trending right now, and takes a certain kind of je ne sais quoi to pull that off. What i like and identify with most about Garance (and share this personal
style aesthetic) is her lowkey approach to fashion and style. That is a truly stylish woman…when you only apply a new or trending style…
as it applies to your own ;) Not to mention that they are now experiencing this mad world of fashion in tandem; and how it now relates to *both of their simultaneous points of view. I admire a man who admires his woman’s style irregardless of how others perceive her, so good for you, Scott.
Lucky you! She's so beautiful!
October 3, 2009 at 2:15 pm

October 3, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Really like this shot. You can see the emotion from one to the other and it doesn't look awkward usually when someone who takes many photos has their photo taken they look awkward or a little like they want to turn the camera on the other person. Perfect as usual!
is that a RING?! Congratulations!!!!!!!

Great shot! All around great outfit. Love the little touch of femininity in the scarf.
October 4, 2009 at 3:57 pm
The warm brown oxford shoes: Here on Garance AND in the RL shots from earlier this week AND on the striking young man with the ginger hair before that. The sartorialist is on to something big, has anyone else noticed this? Why oxfords? Why now?
October 4, 2009 at 4:26 pm
She has the smile of someone who is being photographed by a man in high heels who has swapped his shoes for hers because her feet were killing her.
Proof, by the way, that men's leather oxfords can look just fine without socks.
October 4, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Reading the comments about the shoes, I suddently feel old–wasn't it just yesterday that we all wore the "men's-look" oxfords? Oops, nope. That was the '80s. Great to see it back again.
So true about her smile–her best accessory.
October 4, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Her effortless elegance and her androgynous yet feminine look reminds me Katharine Hepburn.
October 4, 2009 at 4:57 pm
Instant shopping list of three things I'd like to buy in that photo (shoes, watch, scarf). But you just can't buy style. Lovely. You two make a gorgeous couple.
October 4, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Where do I get shoes like that? They're lovely.
October 4, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Aw, so cute! She looks so gorgeous, effortlessly chic! Love the scarf tied up so nonchalantly…and the LV bag, LOVE!!!
October 4, 2009 at 7:52 pm
We have "boyfriend jeans." Now we have "boyfriend shoes?"
I like her rolled up pants.
And her happiness.
October 4, 2009 at 8:24 pm

October 4, 2009 at 10:38 pm
I was just thinking yesterday that I would love to wear a pair of this style of shoes.. but wasnt sure how it would look on a girl, feel inspired now!
October 4, 2009 at 11:19 pm

I love the shoes! they are not manly but look very old-fashioned and just adorable to me! She seems so adorablely sweet.
October 6, 2009 at 11:25 pm
I'm 99% sure the shoes are by YMC. I bought a pair exactly like them a couple of years ago at Odin in NYC. I've worn mine every day (with jeans and no socks of course) for the last 2 years. They look super hot on girls too of course.
October 7, 2009 at 8:09 am

April 18, 2012 at 12:19 am
SOckless??? Must’ve been stinky… When they came off at the end of the day!
May 14, 2012 at 1:18 pm
I love those shoes. I really want to find a pair like that. They are the perfect finishing touch to complete the polished yet carefree look she has.
November 27, 2012 at 6:40 pm
Oxfords for women are hot. Especially without socks. I love the look. I want me some wingtips (I’m a woman). I could see wearing them with nearly anything — but what appeals to me in my imagination is a floaty floral print dress with oxfords.
