October 18, 2009 at 9:13 am
This is such a cute couple. They actually designed the shoes she is wearing and a whole line of shoes.
October 18, 2009 at 9:18 am
I love how he wore his shirt with a tweed! And the way she paired her dress with her stockings!
Very cute couple!
October 18, 2009 at 9:19 am
There is a science fiction theory which states that there are an infinite number of parallel universes. Thank you for this look inside one!
October 18, 2009 at 9:38 am
I like their confidence and attitude. Her shoes and red lipstick are beautiful! BUT there is an overall clownish feel to their outfits…
October 18, 2009 at 9:45 am
I like this Vivienne W. bag. BTW this couple is so fabulous and cheerful :) lovely blue shoes!
October 18, 2009 at 9:46 am
They look good together.
October 18, 2009 at 9:57 am
They look so comfortable with their ridiculousness. And I always appreciate this much color! and her tights subtly match her dress!
October 18, 2009 at 9:59 am
So London. Exactly what I like about England. In Paris you would never find people dressed like that.
October 18, 2009 at 10:00 am
Love them both, they look so good toghether!I think her shoes are so to die for! Does anyone know what brand they are?
October 18, 2009 at 10:02 am

October 18, 2009 at 10:07 am
October 18, 2009 at 10:20 am

October 18, 2009 at 10:31 am
Love anyone who takes so many risks with their clothes – love her orange coat in particular. Bet they make many people smile!
October 18, 2009 at 10:48 am

beautiful orange coat
October 18, 2009 at 11:10 am
Love them together!
October 18, 2009 at 11:14 am
I like the shoes a lot – reminds me of the Argentinian shoe designer Silvie Geronimi's work. The repeated design in her leggings and dress are pretty smart too. Would never wear it myself but I love looking at it
October 18, 2009 at 11:26 am
I think they are Icelanders and that she is the designer and owner of kron by kron kron… http://kronbykronkron.com/ Love here design!
la reine de l'est

such a colorful couple.
only in london.
October 18, 2009 at 11:57 am
Polished yet unpretentious. Good job!
October 18, 2009 at 11:59 am
so british! their outfits work really well together.
October 18, 2009 at 12:14 pm
I never thought that many bright colors could make me feel so sad.
October 18, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Yeah that's Hugrún Árnadóttir & Magni… A icelandic love/design couple who own Kron and KronKron in Reykjavik and their own shoelabel kron by kronkron.
October 18, 2009 at 12:23 pm
That trench!! That trench!!I must have it!!Fabulous!
October 18, 2009 at 12:26 pm
This only works because everything is so consistently mismatched. She almost broke the consistency with the angle pattern on her socks almost matching the angle pattern on her skirt. And the fact that his neon shoes are too similar to her neon jacket . . .
Otherwise . . . it works.
October 18, 2009 at 12:30 pm
I want that purse. Anyone have any ideas who makes it?
October 18, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Wee that's Hugrún Árnadóttir & Magni… A icelandic design/lovecouple… They always make me smile :-D
October 18, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Oh . . . what a mish mash of awesomeness.
October 18, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Too much in my poor opinion, but great to see! They're just perfect to each other!
Her bag is really cool…
October 18, 2009 at 12:50 pm
hmmm… one might initially say.. colorful. Sorta andre 3000'ish.
October 18, 2009 at 12:55 pm
I adore those blue shoes! So shiny and bright~
The patterns on her stockings and coat work really well together too.
October 18, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Me encanta !!! Me too … i love who takes colors risks …here in CHILE people dont do this frequently …
October 18, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Wow! very good, very nice!
October 18, 2009 at 1:17 pm
This is something that you really don't get a chance to see often in New York. COLOR!! It's cold here, and the theme this winter seems to be gray's, blacks, and neutral colors. These two would stick out, and rightly so. Beautiful.
October 18, 2009 at 1:30 pm
October 18, 2009 at 1:44 pm
EXPLOSION OF COLOR, looks haphazardly beautiful
October 18, 2009 at 1:51 pm
First time to this site. Very nice. These people you shoot on the street are friends, right? Or they are pre-arranged? If not your luck is amazing. The pictures are lovely-very smart to shoot in flat light all the time.LIke the couple as a concept-it's hard to find a mate with the same fashion sense-maybe she dresses him? Or the reverse? She's got too much going on-reminds me of Edina Monsoon. Love him. Love men in those transparent glasses.
October 18, 2009 at 1:52 pm
A round of applause for this couple is due. The abundance of colour and textures is extremely intriguing. However, his shoes deflect attention from his whole look and her VW bag is a tad too dominant! His opaque fleet street esq specs and her orange mac are immense!
October 18, 2009 at 1:57 pm
A chameleon would explode
October 18, 2009 at 1:58 pm
I need to know WHERE those shoes came from!
October 18, 2009 at 2:09 pm
i love how the colors on her dress go right into her tights.
and the pop of color on the man's shoes.
October 18, 2009 at 2:12 pm
She is pulling it off better than he is… though I wish her hair was "up." I do like his shoes, but the shirt is a bit of a stretch.
The Lovely Bastard
October 18, 2009 at 2:21 pm
the upper parts of her tights match her dress and the lower parts match the shoes.
but oh god how i just hate that vivienne westwood bag!
October 18, 2009 at 2:30 pm
She's got entirely too much going on, not unlike the little girl caught playing in mommy's closets. Not flattering, no matter what country she's from. He needs to lose the shoes; otherwise, I applaud his quirkiness/personal style.
mom & son
October 18, 2009 at 2:35 pm
wow!what a fabulous and stylish couple!i love their outfits!
October 18, 2009 at 2:37 pm
i see that clashing is still cool.
October 18, 2009 at 2:38 pm
plus, they look strangely familiar.
October 18, 2009 at 2:44 pm
So British eccentric! Great! Even If I would never dress like that myself, and I am not so fond of bthat much colors in the same outfit, but they look happy, and make other ppl happy with all that color.
October 18, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Fashion victims out on a stroll.
October 18, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Colorful and eccentric couple
October 18, 2009 at 3:35 pm
This is what I hate about fashion…costuming and just plain tring too hard to be "different". What happened to "efortless dressing"? I see these two and I want to run for a pair of sweats.
October 18, 2009 at 3:50 pm
I think I would love to go where they are going. I love his glasses and her use of diamond figures in her outfit. This is England but they don't look British to me.
October 18, 2009 at 3:52 pm
We have the same eye :)
October 18, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Like somebody said earlier this is Magni and Hugrún from Reykjavík, shoe designers and owners of KronKron store in Iceland.
She's wearing a pair from their awesome shoe collection http://kronbykronkron.com/
Here are more photos of the shoes from the marvellious icelandic photographer Saga:http://saganendalausa.blogspot.com/2009/08/kron-by-kronkron.html
October 18, 2009 at 4:28 pm
Comment at 9:19am made me laugh out loud- they certainly do capture "alternate reality chic," which someone else points out also= English eccentric and for those of us who don't quite get it HOT MESS-
October 18, 2009 at 4:44 pm
haha reminds me of the couple on real housewives of new york. All about fashion and bright shoes.
check out our blog: lekisskiss.blogspot.com
October 18, 2009 at 4:46 pm
This couple are great! I love when you shoot people that just radiate personality, the people that you pass on the street and can't help smiling with.
October 18, 2009 at 5:00 pm
They are ah colorful, but not altogether attractive.
His jacket doesn't fit. Look at those ugly shoulders.
October 18, 2009 at 5:10 pm
It's so fun to read other posts and learn that this 'colourful British couple' is actually Icelandic and designed the shoes she is wearing. Adorable!!!
October 18, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Awww, they are adorable:)
October 18, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Its so vibrant, i love it!
October 18, 2009 at 5:23 pm
There's a whole lot of pattern going on here.
October 18, 2009 at 5:30 pm
Help us! We need attention.
I'm sure if you separated their outfits there are good pieces in there, but together, it's just a loud jumble.
I understand why you too their photo, but it truly does not "do it" for me.
October 18, 2009 at 5:38 pm
They don't give up!!!
October 18, 2009 at 5:45 pm
HAHA – look at all the "coordinated" women in the background, wishing they were in this couple's place.
October 18, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Elly + Yin
October 18, 2009 at 5:55 pm
What a playful & unique colours, textures & patterns from both. Wouldn't have thought of that combo myself! CUTE & DARING! eLLy*
October 18, 2009 at 6:04 pm
She looks kind of ragtag, but he is amazing. Love his shoe color!
October 18, 2009 at 6:05 pm
They're too far out for me, but I love the blue shoes paired with the plaid blazer. Edgy!
October 18, 2009 at 6:07 pm
I love the splash of colour they had. Soo unique and well put together!
October 18, 2009 at 6:18 pm
ooh wow :) now this is the sartorialist i know and love!
October 18, 2009 at 6:21 pm
I can't believe this pair made The Sartorialist. They are just another hipster couple trying too hard to stand out and have intentionally made themselves look much older than they probably are. As for them looking "so London", go to any major city in N. America and you will see far too many people dressed exactly like this. It's not chic, it's not sophisticated, it's trendy and tiring.
Maria del Mar
October 18, 2009 at 6:29 pm
…Congratulations for this picture…100% Originals!!:-)
October 18, 2009 at 6:35 pm
It´s not really a style I would warmly recommend to somebody, on top of that this guy reminds me of Ned Flanders from the Simpsons.
I like the variety of patterns and I love the bag!
Catherine Blair Pfander
October 18, 2009 at 7:10 pm
I agree with Laarni–not advisable, exactly, but this is truly genius. Puts a smile on your face.
October 18, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I love it with all my heart~!
October 18, 2009 at 7:30 pm
love the couple, love the style, I think she does a better job pulling it off, though,… his shoes are too much..
October 18, 2009 at 7:47 pm
Adorable! I love everything about their look :)
October 18, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Please direct your attention to the blonde in the background. She looks super fierce.
October 18, 2009 at 8:35 pm
I like what that guy is wearing; it reminds me of grandma's dining room, with aqua blue ceramic humming birds nestled on the floral mantel piece. HOT!
October 18, 2009 at 8:40 pm
omg.. i wanna that westwood bag too!!
October 18, 2009 at 9:10 pm
adorable!i love the mans shoes and shirt.
October 18, 2009 at 9:24 pm
Have a nice week!
October 18, 2009 at 9:37 pm
trying way too hard
October 18, 2009 at 9:44 pm
I want the Blue Patient leather shoes he has on… only in a woman style! LOL. They are just neat!
October 18, 2009 at 10:06 pm
His shirt!!!!!! Her bag!!!
Super dreamy sight to see.
October 18, 2009 at 10:12 pm
hmmm, maybe something aggressively child-like about this one, a sort of faux-naive, faux-post-ironic look.
on the one hand, you have to admire the commitment to a singular vision. on the other hand, it's a thin line between fashion and costume, and not interesting when you cross it. just in time for halloween?
oh well, it's a free country and god save the queen. not feeling this look, but thanks for the food for thought, sartorialist.
October 18, 2009 at 10:19 pm
October 18, 2009 at 10:41 pm
less is more but more is more fun
October 18, 2009 at 10:55 pm
Love his sweater! and her attitude.
October 18, 2009 at 11:01 pm
cute and chic
October 19, 2009 at 12:02 am
are they a couple? because, if so, they are the cutest couple in the world.
October 19, 2009 at 12:05 am
Love his shirt. Love her shoes.
October 19, 2009 at 12:25 am
This is awesome. The only thing I'm not liking are the guys shoes. Everything else is great. They work very well together stylistically. I can honestly say that I am jealous of what they appear to have as a couple. One of my favorites thus far.
October 19, 2009 at 12:42 am
true love.love her bag.i think the collared shirt + the blazer + red cardigan wins hands down. they seem to be telling the camera, "Yes, we are perfect for each other.
October 19, 2009 at 2:10 am
I think they need hats.
October 19, 2009 at 2:59 am
I'm all for having fun with fashion, but she looks like a five year-old who scavenged her mother's closet for dressing up. And simply adding a designer bag does not make this any less hurtful for my eyes.
October 19, 2009 at 3:38 am
Their shoes are super. The colors transmit energy !!!!!
October 19, 2009 at 4:23 am
Loving the orange! And the tights, and his jacket and shoes… and glasses.
They are just too fun. And I am bringing out my red lipstick!Inspired.
October 19, 2009 at 4:29 am
SO much fun to look at!
October 19, 2009 at 4:39 am
I love both looks, I just think she has exagerated a little bit.. She is blonde and her hair is a bit too long, so it becomes too much "things" in one single look. ^^
October 19, 2009 at 5:06 am
Anon 9:19 AM, comments like yours make the blog worth reading although I'm surprised it made it through.
October 19, 2009 at 5:08 am
So great to see people dressing to express their personalities rather than blindly following trends! Love the colours and geometric patterns.
Anyone know where I can get a pair of her tights?
they both look like they just walked out of a wes andersen movie – something aristocratic, something exotic, something out of place…
October 19, 2009 at 6:10 am
ooooh i've been after this bag for ages! and are those the kron kron shoes?! Great shot!
October 19, 2009 at 6:51 am
Sorry, they are not British. They are Icelandic. Weather you like them or not !
October 19, 2009 at 8:14 am
what are these incedible shoes she's wearing??
October 19, 2009 at 8:37 am
my first thought upon seeing them is that they look nordic. Not just their physical features but those clothes. Norwegians, Swedes, Icelanders tend to dig that Dr. Seuss aesthetic. Someone above mentioned that they are Icelandic. But of course they are.
It's entertaining and certainly not boring and I assume they've got some kind of fun event to attend but otherwise, as two people walking down the street it brings to mind adults who escaped from the mental hospital and broke into a thrift store selling old Cirque du soleil apparel.
Yeah, they're cute ad adorable and I like that they've got real personal style and all that but really…. they look a little looney tunes…. not that there's anything wrong with that.
October 19, 2009 at 9:03 am
Terribly cool, so much nice details….
October 19, 2009 at 9:04 am
I have to admit I was rather bemused by so many people calling this pair "British eccentric". I don't know how any other Brits here feel, but from my experience, the 'British eccentric' is not necessarily just "hot mess" as someone before me said. This couple are indeed eccentric, but far too trendy to be British!
However, to hear they are Icelandic makes a lot more sense to me! haha!
October 19, 2009 at 11:17 am
Those blue shoes and severely pegged (zoot?) trousers ruin it for me.
October 19, 2009 at 11:18 am
if you love colors .. your mate will love too;-)
October 19, 2009 at 11:39 am
too quirky by half. her look isn't bad, but he needs to change his shoes.
October 19, 2009 at 12:17 pm
He looks like the lead singer of Woodpigeon. Does anyone from Calgary read this blog?
October 19, 2009 at 12:18 pm
these two are an Icelandic couple. living in Reykjavik. He has a hair solon and she, surprise, a shoe store. They are lovely people! It's nice to see them and Scot, glad you shot them. Cody
October 19, 2009 at 12:35 pm
really colorful! meliiike
October 19, 2009 at 1:27 pm
All black. Nope. Strappy bondage shoes. Nope. Cell phone, cigarette, coffee, bottled water and stuck up attitude. Nope. Emaciated. Nope. Insecure. Nope.Risky. Over thirty. Interesting. fun.
October 19, 2009 at 1:52 pm
I think they look fantastic. People should wear color. Why be boring. I also LOVE his shoes. They are the best part.
October 19, 2009 at 4:23 pm
They are beyond fabulous….
October 19, 2009 at 4:55 pm
It's unique, but I think it's too much but I love the shoes!
October 19, 2009 at 5:09 pm
October 19, 2009 at 5:34 pm
There was no need to add "London" in the title, I can't imagine this couple in any other city, really.
October 19, 2009 at 5:37 pm
what an ADORABLE couple!!!!
October 19, 2009 at 9:28 pm
they are both awesome, but the guy – killer in every way from the hair/beard to the shoes.
October 20, 2009 at 6:06 am
facial hair is fashionable I think. She looks good too…liking the colours!! And the dudes shoes…KAPOW!!
Forest City Fashionista
October 20, 2009 at 7:06 am
From any of the style blogs I've seen from Iceland, I get the impression that so many Icelanders have very unique looks, and are not afraid to mix colours and patterns. This couple looks like they would be very interesting to talk to.
October 20, 2009 at 8:22 am
And this… is how to do it!
October 20, 2009 at 8:38 am
I love this couple…so many colours!lovely bag!
October 20, 2009 at 11:09 am
Love to see proper colors here! Was getting a bit tired of the subdued/black/neutral colors theme. How refreshing! Those two are certainly not boring or afraid when it comes to dressing (as I suspect many readers are with regard to prior comments)
October 20, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Yet another reason I should never have left Iceland. These two are the embodiment of everything there is to love about mankind.
October 20, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Less is not more, less is just less. More more MORE – bring it on!
October 20, 2009 at 10:16 pm
For some reason I though of Mama Cass when i saw this photo! The clothes are reminiscent of the 70s but have a very chic, cool twist at the same time.
This seems like such a mish-mash of clothing but, amazingly, it all works!
October 21, 2009 at 1:53 am
i love the mix of patterns
Sad eyed lady of the lowlands
October 21, 2009 at 9:06 am
Anon 1:27 PM- Love your comment!
LOL, the guy really does look like Ned Flanders!!!
Love her shoes!
October 21, 2009 at 10:22 am
Freakish cool! I just love kooky people who have no idea they are kooky….fierce attitude and style.
October 21, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Dude is flyy but the chick looks like a clown
October 21, 2009 at 7:50 pm
arent they the designers for kronkron shoes?!
October 21, 2009 at 8:02 pm
I would be amazed if they are British.
October 22, 2009 at 8:16 am
she´s like Naomi Watts in 30 years!!! (and with another husband ,of course)
October 23, 2009 at 8:35 am
They are not english… they are from iceland and yeah that are kron shoes ;)
well… they are NOT british so you're un-amazed :-P they're icelandic and owner of Kron and Kronkron stores and the shoes they're wearing are their own designs
