Love her style, a true ode to 'Shambolic' Magazines in bathtub-something I do as well. (Well you wouldnt want to drop a novel in the water would you??)
1 question: where can one get lace up boots like in the 2nd photo.. they are just what I am looking for
The jeans to lace booties look is very much the fashionista choice of the moment, yet somehow still feels original because the Target's and H&M's of the world haven't picked it up. She's quite cute.
Lady knows how to dress [although I agree with some of the above, I'm not entirely sold on the denim ensemble], but perhaps could take a tip on whiskey: leave the rocks on the street. Whiskey's best flavors come out at room temp!
Her outfit with the vintage jeans and chambray shirt is burned into my brain– I love dressing like that, and she pulls it off with such effortlessness and grace! Thanks for the styleprofile of her.
I love the mostly masculine feel of her clothing yet with feminine touches such as red lipstick and heels. I am drawn to this sense of style because of the casual attitude of the clothes, yet the overall look is so on point. A wonderful mixture of neutrals. She looks comfortable which exudes confidence. A perfect example of how a woman doesn't need a short skirt and sky high heels to look fantastic.
i can so see mens fashion inspiring her wardrobe and it comes as no surprise that she would work for a mens magazine…it is indeed effortless and i see no pretention what so ever!
This post I enjoy very much because I always find myself wondering about the thoughts and feelings of the people in your photos who we usually only get to see for a single moment.
interesting and funny sometimes. Great questions/ Powerful answers. Love the second look because like Dianna says : Prairie tomboy meets Parisian chic. And i love style for that: be casual pieces with powerful accessories or fabrics to be elegant.
The 1st photo is one of my favorites (because of the different blues, her pose, the mixing of fabrics, NY cabs behind her…), so great to get to know a little bit about her! I love her shoes
Great great post! I love it. Sometimes pictures stand for themselves but it is also nice to get a little insight into the person's life. Will there be more?

Well anyway, i adoree the denim look and i am so inredibly jealous about how effortless those outfits look on her. Also, i am in complete agreement with her when she mentions that she looks for the shape of the silhouette.

Oh lovely, I love reading interviews about what influences peoples style and where they like to shop! Great feature! Would love to see something like this again. And as for that girl, great style!
Double denim is hard to do. I'm not confident at all at even trying it. Still, the boots and hat quirkify it enough. I much prefer the second look with the neutral layering. Exemplary fall style in this comfortable yet elegant outfit.
My kind of style. I just can't understand the mania for such enormous scarves around the neck, they are not flattering at all, too much volume on the upper part of the body.
I thought for a moment you were recycling your old shots, we have seen the first photo about a year ago? Sorry to have doubted you – that is a wonderful profile. She loves whiskey on the rocks . . . oh my!
I know nothing about photography, but do you notice that on overcast days you can see details in patterns and color much better than on days with blaring sunlight?
The hat, the hair and the lipstick — what a wonderful triptych. From the neck down, though, is not impressive. Her shirt and jeans do her a disservice. She could do better.
Like others I don't much care for the first look and I agree that it is far too redolent of the 80's. The second look I love, a relaxed and feminine take on menswear. I love the lace up shoes and her pants, which with their tapered cut have the look of jodhpurs. All in all in both photos, she reminds me of Molly Ringwald.
where the fade line begins on her jeans… is that sunlight? i see the same line on the jacket she is wearing.. anyways, i've always despised denim with denim, the "Canadian Suit" if you will. but this woman pulls it off, and if there's such a thing as 'prairie tomboy meets Parisian chic' then she is the total embodiment of it!
I really like how you've questioned them, most of the time, when browsing through blogs, I never find names of models and people, and I get disappointed, but to see this, I am trés trés happy.

I couldn't agree more regarding Florence oosing of casual elegance.
yes, yes, it is beautiful but what about the shoes?? where are the shoes from? I am a recent convert to the sartorialist so I am sure this question gets asked a lot in the comment section but does it ever get answered?
I do like the style in the first picture. I think Denim on denim is very difficult, but by her excellent selection of size and color, it looks so fashionable. Simple but different from others.
The second look is OK, although I’m not a big fan of such pants and the whole ‘bag lady’ thing. I don’t like anything about the first outfit though: the baggy boyfriend jeans make her look short-legged and chubby (although she’s not), denim colors are very 90s, the denim on denim thing is also very 90s or just country, the boots have a totally different vibe than the rest of the outfit. I mean, I can sort of see what she was trying to do here but in my opinion it just didn’t work on a number of different levels.
Plain and simple: I just really enjoyed this style profile. I loved her responses, especially "Prairie tomboy meets Parisian chic". And, still enjoying your blog so much.Thank you.
"they're not afraid to wear color in Paris"???? Omg, you MUST be kidding. I just got back from 2 weeks there, wearing my red trench, and I stuck out like a sore thumb. This interview must be old, or the girl must be color-blind. In Paris, the women wear black, brown, muted tones and earth tones. But color? Um, no. Maybe at the offices of fashion magazines. But every day, in the streets? No.
I'm Canadian but I have no idea what a Canadian tuxedo is. I love the look in the first picture with the denim on denim, which I'm not brave enough to do myself. It works because the shades of denim are different. I would like to see a black belt on the outfit.
1) I have to agree with everyone who disagreed with the "not afraid to wear color" comment. If you want color (or less stuffy style in general), go to Barcelona. I wore a brightly colored vintage dress in Paris once, and got stared at and asked if it was a "costume".
2) Someone may have already caught this, but it's Lou Doillon, not Dillon. She's Jane Birkin's daughter.
Her style inspires me. More style profiles please! :)
To Anonymous @ 7:51 PM: The boots in the second photo are Chloé Silverado (from A/W 2006-7).
To The Blasphemous Fiendess: I'm from Canada too, and have never heard the term "Canadian Suit/Tuxedo" before. I guess that's because I live in Montreal. Too funny!
I really really like her style.Perhaps what makes the outfits even more convincing is the fact that she looks so goddamn happy wearing her them. And comfortable. She may say her style is 'shambolic' but it definitely comes together.

Plain and simple: I just really enjoyed this style profile. I loved her responses, especially "Prairie tomboy meets Parisian chic". And, still enjoying your blog so much.Thank you.

The first look is way too 80's for me, except for the boots, which are hot! The second look works all around.

Too funny!

I think what she may mean about Paris is that they're not afraid to wear one strong colour. At a time. With black.

in paris the most color you ever see are in the skies, not in the clothes.
her style is effortless and I love the layers in the second picture.

I really really like her style.Perhaps what makes the outfits even more convincing is the fact that she looks so goddamn happy wearing her them. And comfortable. She may say her style is 'shambolic' but it definitely comes together.

Beige is playing very nicely on her body. Modern, comfortable, warm and attractive. Beige is for me… like a…. queen.
