What a great capture–beautiful and gritty.
Garance is so dope!
November 6, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Legs like that girl on the left will make just about any outfit work, but the purse seems disproportionately large in comparison, unless of course she's carrying an entire octuplet litter of color-coordinated white kittens.
I really, really love her style, it's so inspiring! you should take pictures of her more often…
November 6, 2009 at 5:14 pm
i have to say that both of them have great outfits! <3
November 6, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Garance is über-amazing!

Garance is such an awesome woman, I love the volume of her skirt!
November 6, 2009 at 5:23 pm
Really like the attitude to this shot, and the red brick is the perfect back drop!
Incroyable de naturel.I love that girl !!!!!!
November 6, 2009 at 5:24 pm
A great informal shot.. I always like seeing 'behind the camera' at how it all works! The composition of the photo is perfect- and both the outfits are gorgeous.
November 6, 2009 at 5:26 pm
she seems like a truly beautiful person.
November 6, 2009 at 5:27 pm
ah~! she always seems so wonderful!… wish there were more pictures of her (almost never in her blog!) =(
November 6, 2009 at 5:30 pm
love her! Great photo of her at work =)
November 6, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Even in her gestures and stance, Garance exudes charm! I love seeing pictures like this. Streetstyle pictures can sometimes seem distant and voyeuristic, so it's nice to see a photographer embodying the same glamour she celebrates.
November 6, 2009 at 5:34 pm
I love that Garance is wearing flats!! She always looks so chic. Vive la comfy shoes!
November 6, 2009 at 5:42 pm

November 6, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I've noticed Garance in flats a lot lately! That's great, maybe she'll shift the tide to mor comfy shoes. Enough of the unwearable heels!
November 6, 2009 at 7:21 pm
Garance has fantastic legs!
November 6, 2009 at 7:26 pm
garance is so gorgeous while working! my god!!
November 6, 2009 at 7:28 pm
I love her flats! She looks great even while taking a picture :)
November 6, 2009 at 7:39 pm
Does anyone know where her bag is from? It's lovely!
November 6, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Our dear Garance looks like a ballerina in her swirly skirt, leopard ballet flats and her superb dancer's legs! You are one lucky man, Scott, but I'm sure you know that already…
November 6, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Scott, I have a plan and I need your help, the plan is that while you distract Garance, I can steal those animal prints flats and that beautiful skirt!! :DGreat photo!!! I love that you share photos of each other on your blogs
November 6, 2009 at 8:05 pm
But why is she carrying a bag?
November 6, 2009 at 9:25 pm
what a fun shot–Garance and her subject both have great legs!
November 6, 2009 at 9:28 pm
She always looks so chic! Even though her style is not strictly French…more international! I love Garance! Soo curious about the Burberry shoot!
November 6, 2009 at 9:29 pm
wow. the brick buildings in NYC are such great backdrops when it comes to street style photos.it's like New York itself plays a character in every photo.
November 6, 2009 at 9:32 pm
they look soooooo cool!!
November 6, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Who makes Garance's flats? They're beautiful!
November 6, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Even the photographer is casually leaning against the wall~So lovely!
November 6, 2009 at 10:07 pm
So adorable. She really is just the coolest!
November 6, 2009 at 10:31 pm
If you ask me this photo is all about Garance~she is an example of what great fashion sense is!!!
November 6, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Ballerina at rest, with camera.
November 6, 2009 at 11:03 pm
the photographer that was taken a picture mmm love it
November 6, 2009 at 11:16 pm
This picture is just amazing – I love how Garance holds her large bag as if it is feather light and how her right foot is casually resting on the other one as if she's having a casual chat with an old friend. The two girls are different but is it not the models beauty that makes this picture – it's all about Garance's relaxed confidence. And then the colors, the red bricks, Garance's flatter than flat flats. One for your next book.

to me it's all about Garances pretty legs, her posture and her cognac leather jacket!
pretty girls, pretty shot. and the picture with the most perfect background.
November 7, 2009 at 4:22 am
Stunning picture! I believe I have the same skirt, but I have never worn it that way. Do you know which brand it is?

November 7, 2009 at 5:32 am
A nice shot boss!!!
November 7, 2009 at 5:37 am
I think the best thing about this picture is the mirrored body language and style – leaning against the wall with one knee bent, big bags, hair scraped back (the bun on top of the head, i brought it back from paris and have been complimented on it ever since!) – it feels like these two women could just be two friends having a cigarette outside or something…yet one of them's holding a camera! It's no wonder everyone feels such affinity with Garance (like I can even use her first name just like that, because I read her blog, and therefore have a personal relationship with her…); it's not just about the model connecting with the photographer to give them inspiration, but the photographer's personality and character can inspire a particular mood in the model – I can easily imagine what we'd see in the model's eyes if we were looking at her from behind the camera. Garance clearly feels so comfortable and confident in her own skin, this is a beautifully real picture…
November 7, 2009 at 7:20 am
lovey shot like her black heels.
November 7, 2009 at 7:33 am
Beautiful, Garance could be posing for a pic herself!

November 7, 2009 at 11:36 am
Are those ballerinas French Sole?
I like this picture a lot, I always love pictures of someone taking pictures :) Someone else said it before, but I also love the Style of Garance, totally international and her own, not typically French at all.I love the colors she use, plain, classic clothes with a little twist ( i.e the ballerinas in this pic )
November 7, 2009 at 11:58 am
so cool, great shot ;)
November 7, 2009 at 1:17 pm
is that a bubble skirt on Miss G? she rocks it of course. love her relaxed pose… and the cute flats.
November 7, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Wow! The model has legs that go on forever!
November 7, 2009 at 1:24 pm
I love this. Made me smile. It's great to see a feeling of camaraderie and mutual respect between two very talented people at the top of their games. I like the difference in opinion. Garance's work seems more investigative, more about what she sees and what she teases out of her subjects whereby here its more about drawing your own conclusion, about documenting a moment. The rules of composition are still relevant in both cases but the motives different. Anyway, that's just my humble opinion! Both treatments equally valid, mind you.
This image says a lot. The photographer as subject. Not new as an idea but the fact that it's shot by someone who records dress codes it then becomes quite interesting. Also, are we just watching Garance at work? Do we comment on what she's wearing? I think it's quite an important photograph.
November 7, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Very nice pic! Love Garance!
November 7, 2009 at 2:39 pm
i used to have that christopher kane for topshop eyelet bag. it's covered in tiny round mirrors- just gorgeous. unfortunately, at least ten of the mirrors fell off within the first week. : ( so tragic. the death of a beautiful soft leather bag in a perfect shape.
November 7, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Cool shot…love the brick!
November 7, 2009 at 5:59 pm
nice photo, kisses from spain

November 7, 2009 at 6:14 pm
I like the girl with the camera, i think she looks wonderful.
The girl in the off-white dress is really disturbing me though, the bag is far to large, it's swallowing her, and the boots are absolutely terrible.the only thing i do like about her, is the dress and her hair.

Garance rules… I wish she would post more photos more often!

November 8, 2009 at 3:30 am
Love the bag, so understated. Someone asked what it is, and I think it's a Sofia Coppola LV.
November 8, 2009 at 5:51 am

November 8, 2009 at 7:43 am

November 8, 2009 at 8:14 am
Are you sure this was in NYC as I live in London next to the Urdang academy and it looks like it exactly…
November 8, 2009 at 9:23 am
Does a photographer routinely work with a bag on the forearm? That would be hard for me. Two lovely women.
November 8, 2009 at 10:20 am
the girl she's shooting is Apphia from Wallpaper I think? They're both beautiful.
November 8, 2009 at 10:25 am
I want eaxctly those shoes, hopefully the girl in the picture would be able to answer me WHERE she found those.
November 8, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Scott…your GF is a babe! Well done, of course! Great shot on your behalf!
November 8, 2009 at 12:51 pm

I know the concept of blogging is all about sharing, but I thank you for the way you, do what you do, and how you do it so well, and I've been reading Garance's blog for a while now too. A story, within a story, within a story and we are all welcomed in to see what you both want to show & tell.

That neutral dress is so cute! It looks like a dress by Mike Vensel! The colors and silhouettes are so similar!
