January 8, 2010 at 7:19 am
I think that I will have to copy this look.
January 8, 2010 at 7:21 am
perfect touch of humour … it makes me happy … thanks again
January 8, 2010 at 7:22 am
Interesting combo. Looks like he snagged a couple of cool chairs at the market.
January 8, 2010 at 7:23 am
I love the pants….not sure about the total ensemble though.
It's all good till I get to the ill-fitting, odd pants. Excellent glove choice, man!

January 8, 2010 at 7:29 am
what a stylish way to conceal a neck brace!
January 8, 2010 at 7:30 am
amazing jacket, and great colors in the scarf… not sure about the trousers…
January 8, 2010 at 7:33 am
Lately I have serious trouble opening the photos on your blog, never happened to me only with your photos in the last month. I mention this to you for information because it is annoying. However, good entry for 2010, in your line, color, hard, hope to settle the problem, I have friends who consult regularly to your blog tell me the same!!! from BCN
January 8, 2010 at 7:42 am
I love the texture of his jacket and the layering of colors throughout.
January 8, 2010 at 7:45 am
i love the cute red details on the grey pants :)
January 8, 2010 at 7:48 am
This is delightful! Love his trousers.
January 8, 2010 at 7:56 am
Are you serious? this is really bad!
January 8, 2010 at 8:09 am
i pantaloni sono meravigliosi…molto ricercati!ùGli accostamenti studiati alla perfezione…un mix molto gradevole!
January 8, 2010 at 8:11 am
I LOVE THE ENTIRE LOOK, EXCEPT THE SHOES; ALL THE REST LOOKS VERY LANVIN..
January 8, 2010 at 8:15 am

January 8, 2010 at 8:33 am
Fantastic! Hurray for great flea markets. Have yet to visit one in Japan.
January 8, 2010 at 8:37 am
that tie makes the checked scarf and shirt a brilliant combination!
January 8, 2010 at 8:43 am
Wow! the pants are crazy! Can't believe it is a normal person dressing for a normal day! It's awesome…
January 8, 2010 at 8:44 am
Awesome, specially the red tie, it just catches you eyes for sure!!… really cool!
January 8, 2010 at 8:45 am
this seems to be a combination of 2 outfits: a blue/gray/red and a green/beige one. nice clothes, but together?great chairs.
January 8, 2010 at 8:52 am
ohh, you all look so cold, but at least stylish , yes
January 8, 2010 at 9:00 am
good combination of colour and texture, but an awful fit.
January 8, 2010 at 9:09 am
Its so lovely to see someone having fun with what they wear… dressing almost for fun without being self concious. not to sure about the gloves though…
January 8, 2010 at 9:24 am
I really dig the aesthetic appeal of the layers and the bursting red. Really DOPE!!!
January 8, 2010 at 9:37 am
The shrunken jacket, the head-supporting scarf, the constant repetition of red, the trousers which, due to the red flecks reminds me of go-to-hell trousers, it's all a little comical isn't it. That said, he's a stylish clown, and another example of the variety of colourful people in NYC.
January 8, 2010 at 9:44 am
I'm not sure I like it, but that is interesting! and lovely!
January 8, 2010 at 9:47 am
fantastic pants … but you are in the Pitti Immagine Uomo?
January 8, 2010 at 9:54 am
He looks so cool! Love his pants!http://letsgrowuplater.blogspot.com/
January 8, 2010 at 9:59 am
Did he spray paint the pants? Interesting.
Marvin K. Mooney
January 8, 2010 at 10:00 am
Thank you for such beauty!
January 8, 2010 at 10:07 am
whoa interesting pants. Where did he find those?
January 8, 2010 at 10:11 am
Sartorialist you should visit Japan…wonderful styles there !
January 8, 2010 at 10:27 am
I'm pretty sure someone could wear ANYTHING bizarre and ppl would find it "amazing." I guess that's what I love about NYC though. Still….some things CAN look off. I think the guy is probably fun and eclectic, but not sure I love this combo.
Not sure what I LOVE more: the pants or his chair find. Excellent on both.
January 8, 2010 at 10:28 am
Is he on his way in to the flea market, to deposit his outfit? Or on his way out, having assembled this hotchpotch? It's a real pity that nothing fits; the style indiosyncrasies would be great if things hung better.
January 8, 2010 at 10:33 am
Love the jacket. Nice style.http://snappylifestyle.blogspot.com/xsnappy
January 8, 2010 at 10:39 am
love the pants!
Jorge from W Palm Beach
January 8, 2010 at 10:44 am
Critter pants are more of a summer look, IMHO, but I think it is great that he manages to pair them with a patterned jacket and makes it work! I really dont care for the shoes, even though I think in this particular example they make him look like a fashion guy and more like someone who just banged a great outfit together and with no effort. Great look! Jorge from WPB
January 8, 2010 at 10:56 am
The outfit under the jacket looks great but the jacket doesn't look good over all those layers and the shoes are just nasty. A good coat and a great pair of brown boots and all could be redeemed.
January 8, 2010 at 11:07 am
All the pops of red in the sign and bag and his outfit look almost art directed.
Shoes make an individual, this photo proves that too!
January 8, 2010 at 11:19 am
What a weird but funny outfit, I love it! Well done! My boyfriend has a similar french hat, a U-NI-TY, which is cool for a woman too. I wear it with a wee dress and high heels!
January 8, 2010 at 11:21 am
te colors work, that's for sure, but I also think there is a shape-size issue here…
January 8, 2010 at 11:26 am
Love the way the "pea" colored gloves awaken the hypnotic repetition in the jackets pattern!
January 8, 2010 at 11:30 am
If he lost that hat and got some real shoes he might not actually look homeless.
dy of ghost
January 8, 2010 at 11:45 am
wow, i love his pants!
January 8, 2010 at 11:46 am
Dude!Love the Look. The Sign behind him is perfectly placed too!

Super combinaison avec le pantalon j'adore
January 8, 2010 at 12:24 pm
January 8, 2010 at 12:52 pm
This gent is the "before" or "don't" picture.
The shirt, sweater and tie are OK, but the jacket is almost Chaplin-tight. Even worse is that he looks like he stole the pants from Ringling Brothers.
January 8, 2010 at 12:57 pm
this is such a fun photo! that man has some great pants yo. i absolutely love your blog and the whole idea of it. i'm probably your zillionth follower
January 8, 2010 at 1:18 pm

Tea with Edith
January 8, 2010 at 1:44 pm
His jacket and the scarf. If you look really quickly, you could see a resemblance of a woman. It´s genial!
January 8, 2010 at 1:49 pm
January 8, 2010 at 1:56 pm
I like his use of the short scarf and the subtle touches of red and green throughout his outfit.
January 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm
He's so funny luv it!!!
January 8, 2010 at 2:04 pm
It looks really cold there.
January 8, 2010 at 2:31 pm
trying to put one over on us??
January 8, 2010 at 2:36 pm
The outfit works. The layering is great. I love the blazer. xoxo
January 8, 2010 at 2:54 pm
wow, tjis trousers are so unusually. What are that red marks?
January 8, 2010 at 2:57 pm
January 8, 2010 at 3:13 pm
I riotous combo of colors and textures. I could not pull this off but he does.
January 8, 2010 at 3:18 pm
This has put a smile on my face. Valentine Man!!!
January 8, 2010 at 3:26 pm
I would never ever in a million years have thought of putting this outfit together – but it works!
the cut, the colors
thanks for posting it – expands my mind
January 8, 2010 at 3:32 pm
Love those pants. I wonder if the red is a print or embroidery and what shape is it…..hmmmmmmm
January 8, 2010 at 3:40 pm
What has happened to this blog? There is barely one post a day, if that.
January 8, 2010 at 3:49 pm
I don't know…it looks like a clown for me…
January 8, 2010 at 4:02 pm
Genial Mr.Schuman! this man is just WONDERFULL!
January 8, 2010 at 4:08 pm
I love the pants :) !!!
January 8, 2010 at 4:21 pm
I love how the color red is very minimal on the whole outfit yet it makes the ensemble stand out. Notice the red signs on the yellow poster in the background and the red on the plastic bags on the chair next to him. Amazing photography. Good job!!!!!
January 8, 2010 at 4:27 pm
I love his scarf and I think his ensemble woudl be better if it weren't so bulky. I'm still not sure about hobo-chic. At least this guy is working it! :D
The Sunlight District
January 8, 2010 at 4:43 pm
Stylish hobo + clown + gentleman + young English newsboy
= something that surprisingly works?
This guy is just too cool for really playing around with all the stuff he's got in his closet.
January 8, 2010 at 5:16 pm
Looove his gloves!
January 8, 2010 at 5:20 pm
New York certainly has a different flavor than Florence or Milan, doesn't it?
January 8, 2010 at 5:23 pm
Thumbs up to the shirt and tie buried underneath everything else. A very ecclectic combo.
January 8, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Too much going on for me, looks like street person chic to me.
Tiffany Griggs Caubin (name yet to be determined)
January 8, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Love the stylish scamp flavor of his look. Reminds me of something Charlie Chaplin would wear.
January 8, 2010 at 7:44 pm
my god! look at those pants. they are amazing
January 8, 2010 at 8:43 pm
Love the red flecks on this pants, the scarf, and his green gloves. Veyr eye-catching without being over the top.
January 8, 2010 at 8:57 pm
I don't like it.
January 8, 2010 at 9:04 pm
Affected. Do like the GTH pants though. Look like the O'Connell, Lucas, Chelf variety.
January 8, 2010 at 9:47 pm
January 8, 2010 at 9:52 pm
this is great
January 8, 2010 at 10:16 pm
Love it! so much interesting detail with the combined patterns. the scarf matches his shirt, his vest, hat and pants match, his tie connects all the red…
Is the red pattern on the pants love-hearts?And the detail on the glove…is there something written or is it just embroidery..???
January 8, 2010 at 10:36 pm
I want to go to any flea market where I can look at people dressed like him, most of them out here in northern ca. are filled with people that look like they rolled out of bed and went to the flea market with one exception, you must go to Alameda Antique market, 1st Sunday every month, among the sad dressers you will find some very cool people.
January 8, 2010 at 10:39 pm
The pants remind of the critter khakis that J Crew used to sell – the ones with the little whales or whatnot embroidered all over.
January 8, 2010 at 11:36 pm
Mister flea market manI salute you!
January 9, 2010 at 12:44 am
AWESOME!! Love the flashes of red, and the pants themselves……..! You are back with a vengeance mr. scott!
January 9, 2010 at 2:10 am
January 9, 2010 at 2:15 am
I LOOOOOOVE EVERY PIECE OF HIS OUTFIT!!!! :D
I HATE THE CONVINATION OF THEM
I THINK MANY OF THOSE WHO SAY THIS IS AWESOME SAY IT BECAUSE THE SATORIALIST THINKS SO…. That is not very cool. ( IF YOU SERIOUSLY LIKE IT,, ITS OK THOUGH ;P)
January 9, 2010 at 2:47 am
so stylish !xoxohttp://www.sojenny.com
January 9, 2010 at 4:16 am
January 9, 2010 at 5:06 am
Aah, I just can't agree with those trousers! But by the looks of things, I don't think he is too worried what other people think of him!
January 9, 2010 at 5:09 am
Cool look, but i don't know about the black shoe, tan wingtips & would been OVER!!!!!!!
January 9, 2010 at 5:38 am
Look at him! I love him! PERFECT combination of colors!
January 9, 2010 at 5:45 am
…everybody love the pants… we need this sense of humour for our routine life;-)
January 9, 2010 at 5:46 am
Excellent! That could be Junya Watanabe fall winter 2012!
January 9, 2010 at 6:00 am
I adore such colorful people of NY.
January 9, 2010 at 6:25 am
I guess its all about NYC because here in Boston I'm not sure this outfit would elicit so many "amazings", "art", "cools" as it did here.
I guess i'm not as creative as you all are but this looks ill matched, ill fitted and just silly to me. I do however like his chairs.
January 9, 2010 at 7:30 am
Cool. Nice pants :)
January 9, 2010 at 8:05 am
I love his trousers!!! The outfit is very nice, crazy and so so wonderfoul!
January 9, 2010 at 9:35 am
The pride of Bangkok!
January 9, 2010 at 10:03 am
it's a unmatched mix… this guy must be taking medicines every 6 hours…
January 9, 2010 at 10:39 am
so cool! I love his pants!
January 9, 2010 at 11:48 am
I agree with the person that asked if he was leaving this outfit at the flea market! Lose the pants, shoes, and get a jacket that fits and you could have something to work with. Although, I do love the attempt, attitude, and the colors!
January 9, 2010 at 12:21 pm
If the chairs were replaced with a shoping cart and a half empty wine bottle the look would be complete.
January 9, 2010 at 12:41 pm
wow the pants were a pleasant surprise! cute :)
January 9, 2010 at 1:30 pm

This is a great look….
January 9, 2010 at 4:35 pm
Let me put it this way: Interesting.
In a good way.
January 9, 2010 at 6:43 pm
I love your work. I did some illustrations from some of your shots, I hope this is not a problem, for exercise purposes. If so, let me know & I'll bring them down from my blog,
January 9, 2010 at 6:59 pm
I love this! Love the suit, love the sports jacket and scarf! I just love the whole thrown together look of it. It ends up looking really cool!
January 9, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Are those Napoleonic bees on his trousers? I don't think so, but I love the idea of "critter pants" (as Jorge from W Palm Beach calls them) in winter ..
January 9, 2010 at 7:20 pm
That button has about had it.
January 9, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Love when people, specially men's, mix patherns, dare to mix patherns. After growp up thinkning that this was wrong, now I'm a fan of mix without shame. It works, it totally works. All the colors fit with each others. And maybe he didn't realize it.
January 9, 2010 at 8:06 pm
Eclecticsm at it's satorial best!

January 10, 2010 at 1:43 am
January 10, 2010 at 2:04 am
Eye-catching but not a big fan of the outfit as a whole.
January 10, 2010 at 2:22 am
Cute pants! And the splashes of red throughout are inspired. Makes a change from just one red item like shoes, or a bag! A perfect way to inject some colour into a winter outfit!
January 10, 2010 at 6:34 am
Scarf's a little too economical :)
January 10, 2010 at 8:58 am
January 10, 2010 at 9:02 am

January 10, 2010 at 2:47 pm
I love when some one does not take fashion so seriously!!!!!
Let the guy be himself and celebrate that!!!
January 10, 2010 at 2:56 pm
the scarf, the pants: what a perfect match!
January 10, 2010 at 3:13 pm
I find that this person is dressed impeccably, as a true professionist of the fashion system. I would like also once again to congratulate with the photographer, because quick snapshots like this one and like all those who you usually do on the streets, require years of experience before knowing how to do
January 10, 2010 at 4:21 pm

January 10, 2010 at 10:18 pm
I love the use of red with the complementing colour of olive in the gloves.
January 10, 2010 at 10:53 pm
Scott,I'm a blogger to! I'm only eleven so please forgive me if my comment is as polished as the others……anyway I have recently started a blog called velobelle.wordpress.com and I'm so excited! I have seen alot of your blog and I LOVE it! thank you for reading this!
January 11, 2010 at 12:00 am
The detail on his pants remind me of Miu Miu s/s 2010. Haha! Looks like he knows what he's doing…the green gloves really stand out to me and contrast with the red in his outfit quite nicely. Great blog, I will keep reading!
January 11, 2010 at 1:44 am
hiI love your blogI like a little advice on how to use worker bootsbelonged to my grandfatherand not as a compositethought of a cotton gabardine pants

January 11, 2010 at 6:38 am
The trousers are real eyecatchers. And with the blazer & scarf it looks too fab!
January 11, 2010 at 8:33 am
My dear Dad had pants like those, in green corduroy for winter. Definitely a man unafraid of making sartorial statements. I know how cold it's been in NYC this January and just wonder why this fellow isn't wearing a proper overcoat? Go buy one at the flea market!
January 11, 2010 at 8:34 am
this is style!
January 11, 2010 at 8:55 am
The nicely-textured jacket would be OK if proportioned to fit better over the cardigan the man is wearing underneath it. However, I still think that the pants are more Ringling Brothers than Brooks Brothers.
January 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm
I love this site and the blog, just don't care too much for this out fit. Looks like homeless person chic, I think there is too much going on. While some of the pieces work well by themselves, I believe this is too much for me. Keep up the good work, I visit just about every day.
January 11, 2010 at 2:23 pm
I think those are the most awesome pants I've ever seen, charming!
January 12, 2010 at 10:48 am
i loooooove it. Those pants! Amazing
January 13, 2010 at 9:15 pm
SO COOL. one of your best pictures! i love the red specks in his clothes with the red arrows behind him. very pleasing composition too.
January 13, 2010 at 10:23 pm
i thought the background looked familiar.. this place is the Garage btwn 6th & 7th? they always have interesting things there. the only way i recognize it is by those plastic curtains.
January 14, 2010 at 5:59 am
Awesome posting man!You are a great blogger. I like your work. Truly you are a genius.Keep up the good work Man!!
January 14, 2010 at 11:51 am
love the pic…not so much his combo though. judging by the responses above i'm not a part of the majority here =P but I do prefer less texture.awesome pic though
January 14, 2010 at 4:51 pm
I love your pants Mr…
Theres a slight chance I'll pinch your idea ;)

January 21, 2010 at 6:27 pm
This is just perfect. The street is always the best spot to site fashion.
February 15, 2010 at 9:30 pm
I recognize the blazer! It is Tahari from the 1980's or possibly even 5 years earlier. I had a hard time giving mine up and seeing it here isn't helping!
March 21, 2010 at 5:08 pm
he should stay in some warm place
April 1, 2010 at 9:20 am
the two arrows behind him work well with the whole pictorial composition…love the outfit.
May 17, 2010 at 4:01 pm
Nice scarf and jacket including this post. Yeah I agree that the street is the best spot for fashion. Coz that where you see new and upcoming style and fashion

What a perfect combination of patterns and textures. Looks effortless but I'm sure he thought about every little piece of his ensemble.
