I absolutely love smoking people. They remember me of Jean Paul Sartre!
February 11, 2010 at 9:25 am
Mr. Rubinacci is truly a sartorial gentleman. On top of his impeccable style, he has a gorgeous smile and most piercing eyes.
One of my favorite outfits on this blog! Can't even put into words the colorful palette this man has managed to dress himself so exquisitely in!
February 11, 2010 at 9:29 am
one of my favorite "satorialist regulars"… he exudes the grace you mentioned in a previous post.. xo
February 11, 2010 at 9:32 am
Well, hello handsome….. wonderful photo!
February 11, 2010 at 9:33 am
so damn cool
February 11, 2010 at 9:35 am
I love the look on this handsome man but even more the ease with which he is wearing it. Not to mention that smile. Woof–enough to melt the heart. It makes me think–yet again–of your "grace" post, my all-time Sartorialist favorite. Thank you so much for that–I was equally touched by the amazing commentary from this fantastic community.
Please stay warm! Here in the South of France, the mighty Mistral winds are blowing but that is nothing compared to the bone chilling gusts of NYC…
February 11, 2010 at 9:36 am
I loved the colors! The blue socks, and the colored plaid blazer! And oh my! He´s gorgeous!
February 11, 2010 at 9:38 am
Hasn't he been pictured a few other times on this blog? He always has the best sense of colour!
February 11, 2010 at 9:39 am
not a fan of the outfit, but still a great photo.
such a wonderful smile! looks like he would have a good time having a root canal.
Mr. Rubinacci is quite obviously one of your favorite male models for portraits!
I do personally prefer less boyish / flamboyant male style. However HE LOOOKS ALWAYS GREAT!!! He truly / really has "italian sophistication" just in his guts. It's a gift and not many people are capable to copy that neatly…
February 11, 2010 at 9:40 am
Loving the shoes, the rumpled hat, the elbow patches and those excellent socks. Obviously the man himself is… wow… but the colors here are magnificent and his ease is as beautiful as his eyes.
Okay, nothing is as beautiful as his eyes. But close!
LOVE this! Truly stylish, natural, and infectious! What a handsome man!
Jorge from W Palm Beach
Mr. Rubinacci certainly has a talent for mixing unusual colors and patterns. Everything here is exquisite, and of course it fits him well. A point I make here is that at least one item in your outfit should reflect a bit of light, and I do not see that here, even though he is wearing silver jewelry. I am also unsure about the scarf being the same color (even if different tone) as his shirt/sweater. It feels a little redundant, oh but to have his clothes budget!!! Jorge from WPB
February 11, 2010 at 9:44 am
oh. oh! the scarf, the bracelets!love!
February 11, 2010 at 9:47 am
i really love his outfit, the combination, everything.
February 11, 2010 at 9:48 am
The small splashes of colour (the socks, the bracelet, the scarf) just makes this outfit! And that smile.. mmm..
Perfect color palette, great shot and gorgeous smile!!!!!!!Textures and style are wonderful. Thanks…L
By FAR the coolest looking guy that you have photographed this year. Waaahwww. I'm sure he is just holding those smokes for a friend, right? ;)

His eyes matches his blazer. Was that planned? ;-)
Fantastic outfit & colours! And judging by this post and previous ones, elbow patches are very much 'in'.

February 11, 2010 at 10:01 am
Goodness gracious, he's handsome.
February 11, 2010 at 10:02 am
One of the best photos ever!I love everything: the plaid jacket, the suede boots, the hat…I think one of the most important details is accessories: the pocket square and the bracelets complete the outfit.Let's grow up later
February 11, 2010 at 10:03 am
More cocoa shoes, I see. Charming. I confess I'm rather taken with this look, and reserve special mention for the socks. So much about character comes through a man's ankles, don't you think?beingmanly: talking sox
February 11, 2010 at 10:04 am
i can't say i'm a fan. he does have a lovely smile but he always looks like a stylish hobo to me.
perhaps i'm not paying close enough attention.
February 11, 2010 at 10:07 am
wow! He is downright gorgeous!I love his blazer!
February 11, 2010 at 10:11 am
I think this is one of my favourite photos so far. Makes me want to leave school NOW and travel around the world with my camera meeting wonderful people like this (actually I want to do that anyway but apparently exams are important…)
It is not only that he is very good looking but also that he, and his style, seem so full of personality and charisma.
wow. thank you scot

nice colour combo
February 11, 2010 at 10:20 am
I love the plaid jacket. Very colorful! xo
February 11, 2010 at 10:23 am
You have done it again Scott. Just when I thought I couldn't face another day of white skies and snow covered "everything" you give us this utterly delightful photograph. He is so bright, so sunny, so comfortable in his own skin! I love the unabashed used of color, it all goes so well together. He is always way out there with color in all your photos, I am in love. And of course, the hat is to die for. He makes me want to create!
I love the well coordinated pop of color. And those shoes. What a stylish and handsome man!

February 11, 2010 at 10:40 am
He's so gorgeous that one forgets to check out his clothes for a moment. This is a guy who wears his clothes well in that they compliment but never outshine his good looks.
February 11, 2010 at 10:41 am
oh the bracelets it is definitely all about the bracelets for me
He's so handsome! Love your photos you've taken of him!
February 11, 2010 at 10:45 am
no matter what,, he never looks over done,,, loving the color pop in the socks and bracelets,, I think its about the ease of himself that makes him pull these looks off,,,,,
February 11, 2010 at 10:47 am
that pocket square is ace.
February 11, 2010 at 10:49 am
Best combo of colors yet!!!!!!!!! Was just five minutes ago talking to a co-worker who was telling me about her trips to Italy and how much color the men over there wear. And then this photo, along with your others this past week to confirm it.

I love everything about this! The jacket colors are great, love the socks, boots are a must-have, accessories are well thought out! Nice to see so many photos featuring hats! Not a fan of the cigarettes…

February 11, 2010 at 11:10 am
I LOVE this photo: his style and his blue eyes !! :)
February 11, 2010 at 11:15 am
Love the colors, layers, textures. Esp the socks and desert boots. The sweater/jacket combo is luscious. One thing lately that makes me go "ick" is elbow patches, whether trendy or traditional. Not sure why, too stereotyped professorial? Maybe if the patches were scuffed, showing a reason to exist?
the first post is ridiculous. it's like saying 'I absolutely love insane people. They remind me of… Van Gogh.' Ridiculous and you should not have allowed it. I don't absolutely love drug addicts because they remind me of River Phoenix. I thought style is also about intelligence not only about 'oh, he's awesome…' You're an intelligent man and you'll understand my point of view. I am not an anti-smoking freak, but I so despised the pseudo-cultural-wannabe intention of the first post, sorry for being open about this.
February 11, 2010 at 11:16 am
Nice. The outfit is very harmonious and the bracelets are the cherry on the cake. He certainly knows what he's doing.

The Hype Around
The style, the richness of the colors and that confident smile makes this is a winning combination and one of my favorite pics on this wonderful blog.

Wow, this man is gorgeous! The burgundy scarf with chocolate suede shoes looks amazing.

First, what a relief to hear someone write that they like smoking people (first comment), unlike the typical moralizing comments about this personal choice (not a smoker, myself, but I respect other people's autonomy). And the reference to Sartre…yes! ("Hell is other people at breakfast" – a man after my own heart). As for Mr. Rubinacci…if he would only agree to marry me and pick out my clothes…I could be happy forever. :)
This should be the cover of your next book. However, can you airbrush out the cigarette pack?
what dia like

February 11, 2010 at 11:54 am
His eyes were the first thing that I noticed. Really love his bracelet and scarf. I want it !
February 11, 2010 at 11:56 am
Love his expression, a realy nice guy.
February 11, 2010 at 11:57 am
Infectious smile. LOVE his colours! Sure, the black uniform is chic, but colour expertise is always so much more exciting. (IMO)
February 11, 2010 at 12:03 pm
February 11, 2010 at 12:06 pm
Love the bracelets, they add a playful and colorful touch to his gear. You can catch me doing the same on a daily. Nice shot.
February 11, 2010 at 12:11 pm
Darn, I have got to get that color scarf. Fantastic shot Sart. This guy fly to the core.
February 11, 2010 at 12:26 pm
Oh wow. What a spunk. Ah, and that colour combo… A man after my own heart.
February 11, 2010 at 12:29 pm
From the rich color and texture of his hat and the fact that he's wearing a hat, to the rich color and texture of his boots, every detail in between makes me swoon, makes me giddy.
February 11, 2010 at 12:31 pm
great blog…loved the shot and attire sans the elbow patches – terrific color coordination…be great to find out where some of the people are shopping…ciao! Richard Donin, Portland, OR USA
February 11, 2010 at 12:35 pm
Does he ever take a false step?!
Wonderful. I love the jacket.
But the best part—the socks, the socks, the socks!
February 11, 2010 at 12:37 pm
His earlier photos are hit-or-miss with me but this one is a hit! The colors in that magnificent plaid dictate the rest of the ensemble. Perfect rich mid-winter warmth, but in the socks is the breath of spring!
February 11, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Please say something about Alexander McQueen, Sart.
February 11, 2010 at 12:42 pm
I really like his smile and of course dressing nicely adds to the whole package….I would love to see him smoking some thing else "if you know what I mean"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing photo Scott!
You have not only captured the amazing composition of his outfit, but seem to have captured his spirit as well. He is, of course, easy on the eyes. But what shines through is the genuine smile – something that can't be faked.
I'm loving the peek of socks too. I've been working on my man for some time now to adopt a colorful sock! I do think I've got him sold on desert boots though…
February 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm
He's a cheeful looking fellow and his outfit suits him perfectly.
On a sad note, RIP A McQueen!
February 11, 2010 at 1:06 pm
WOW…simply gorgeous~Him & the clothes.
Love how he makes the entire outfit look so effortless…even adding bracelets to tie it all together.
February 11, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I love the colour! What a great way to show your personality. The braecelets are interesting because I always assume wearing them works best in the summer but he pulls it off. NYC bring your snow to Vancouver! PLEASE we NEED it!!!
I just fell in love on it.Great shot!
February 11, 2010 at 1:10 pm
Wow. This man is incredible. First of all, it takes so much courage to clash that many patterns and colors together and walk out with them in daylight. Second, you can tell that he understood the palette of the jacket and did not allow one item he is wearing to stray from it.
And as everyone else has noted he is ridiculously handsome so that never hurts. Beautiful shot.

February 11, 2010 at 1:27 pm
He looks so happy I can see it in his eyes. I love the color palette the plum, the green, the shades of brown and how his blue eyes match some of the blues in his bracelet.
The Shitty Astrologer
February 11, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Ooooo, nice harmony of shades in that clothing…I likez!
February 11, 2010 at 1:39 pm
There's a lot going on here: colors, accessories — hat, socks, bracelets, scarf, handkerchief — and it doesn't detract from his beauty but enhances it. Lovely.

February 11, 2010 at 1:50 pm
What a man, what a smile, and what style!
What a dream boat!
What a beautiful man! He emulates such color from his eyes and compliments it well with his clothes…great job, Scott.
February 11, 2010 at 1:56 pm
I cannot add to the superlatives offered for this picture. Beautiful subject–perfect picture:the repetition of elements in the pose, the color composition.Don't you just love getting it right–like hitting the sweet spot! That the subject is PaulNewman gorgeous doesn't hurt anything.
February 11, 2010 at 1:59 pm
Its damn people like this that make me feel aesthetically baby like. Look at those cuffs! That blazer- not even worth attempting to expound on it. Well photographed my friend. Touche Mr. Rubinacci, touFNche.

Wish I could get my man to dress like that- I wouldn't be able to take my hands OFF him!

Everything works but the smokes and the multiple bracelets. Especially like what appears to be a larger than average pant cuff and the aqua/dark brown argyle socks. I have a similar hat.
BTW, I would appreciate it (and perhaps your other readers would as well) if you posted what manufacturers made the pieces in the pictures. Perhaps you could do it as a final post to close comments on a photo.
February 11, 2010 at 2:33 pm
loving the colors! and that smile! and those BRACELETS… the whole look is effortless.

An embarrassment of riches….bringing out all your stars….Rubinacci, Barbera….can Marzotto be far behind?….seriously this is a great combo and IT'S NOT THAT HARD TO DO with a little thought and experimentation…I've seen similar items in all these color palettes along Madison in sales for weeks so why don't more people look like this?
February 11, 2010 at 3:03 pm
The plum sweater is delicious. Who ever knew hunter green, plum, and blue tartan would go so well together!

I think it's the beard texture and colour in combination with the trousers and elbow patch that I love the most.

I am at a loss for words…charming..
February 11, 2010 at 6:30 pm
Love the look and colors.
February 11, 2010 at 6:49 pm
Love his bracelets!! I'm also really liking all the "Howard Moon"-esque elbow patches the men are sporting these days; practical and chic.
February 11, 2010 at 6:59 pm
I think he overdoes it with the pastels (In this and earlier photos) and I wonder if this is a concerted effort to highlight his eyes, if so, too vain.
February 11, 2010 at 7:01 pm
He looks very attractive and happy with life. Nice.
February 11, 2010 at 7:09 pm
Love the smile! Love the purple!

Betcha all the Luca haters commenting here always dress in black suits with white shirts and black ties. And think they look cool. When really, they just look like waiters. Bravo, Luca. Keep living in technicolor.
February 12, 2010 at 3:40 am
Mr. Rubinacci has certainly a talent for wearing and knows what fits well.

I had no time to read all the other comments. Probably I repeat the majority: he looks unbelievable. The berry colors fit his eyes! Hmmm, I dream about eating a big bowl of raspberry with him :-)))
Have you already managed to shot him without hat? oh, yes, in 2008.With hat he looks younger.
February 12, 2010 at 5:40 am
GORGEOUS!!!! When he gets it right, he really gets it right. The combinations of luscious colors and patterns are spot on and perfect with his skin tone and hair color. Exquisite, the guy looks like a jewel.
I would kill for the hat!
February 12, 2010 at 5:43 am
Talk about eye candy! Thanks Scott…I needed a fresh wallpaper for my iPhone. Anyone know who made the blazer? Can't take my eyes off the plaid, except to look at that grin.
February 12, 2010 at 6:34 am
This is a man amongst men! Magnifico! He is without doubt the best best best dressed man on your blog. EVER! What a stunner!!!
February 12, 2010 at 8:09 am
If it's not going to spoil the romance of his mastery of colour, would it be possible to interview him sometime in the near future to find out what is the science of being/dressing like Luca?
Looking at the number of responses, I think there would be more than a few of us out there interested in his answers. I also think there's definitely a sponsorship deal in the making from Pantone/Dulux…it's time they have an ambassador of colour.

I can't believe I've only just seen this picture. I LOVE his jacket! The colours somehow fit in place together beautifully. And his scarf and jumper are so rich in colour. They really bring out the rest of the outfit! I'd also like those lovely suede shoes right now. Okay, I love this man's style and could go on forever but I won't.
