Your blog's been an inspiration to me (and I'll guess many other readers). I've decided to walk down the streets of Toronto and take photos of stylish folks, Sartorialist-style :) Here's today's post
February 9, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Brilliant coat! I love that he paired it with neutrals and basics so he doesn't have too much going on, looks great!
February 9, 2010 at 3:36 pm
another comfortably funky gent. i adore the juxtaposition of jaunty and bold pieces.
February 9, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Orange paired with neutrals is so amazingly rich. Great shot!
February 9, 2010 at 3:39 pm
Great earth tones Digging the hat too! The bag could use a bit of work though (the hat should have been a dark brown to bridge the whole outfit-the sweater should stand by itself as contrast). All in all a very comfortable look. Genius shot, Sart!!
February 9, 2010 at 3:43 pm
I love that coat!
February 9, 2010 at 3:44 pm
don't mind, this coat is really really nice!

john benjamin pritchett
I LOVE the jacket, shoes and bag!Anybody know where I could get the jacket? Gotta have it! Oh and don't apologize for being heavy on mens photos I love 'em!johnbenjaminpritchett.blogspot.com
February 9, 2010 at 3:57 pm
You have not been heavy enough considering we have just had 3 weeks of Men's Fashion weeks bypass. More from Pitti Uomo. This is a great use of color combining. Perhaps an Homage to ETRO and Kenzo.
February 9, 2010 at 4:01 pm
It's not the first time you show us that gentleman, I believe.Still, I love the pattern in his raincoat and the hat is just lovely! :)The colour scheme is actually similar to the photo you posted before this one.
February 9, 2010 at 4:03 pm
What's the bag?
February 9, 2010 at 4:04 pm
February 9, 2010 at 4:05 pm
The last four pictures, I like very much. autumn colors
February 9, 2010 at 4:08 pm
I love the use of Grey and cream colours to neutralize the orange
The collar and hat combined add a great framework for the face
He has I a take it or leave attitude with the hidden smile and nonchalant pose
February 9, 2010 at 4:11 pm
February 9, 2010 at 4:12 pm
I want that coat!
February 9, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Great job with the depth of field! And something tells me this jacket was tailor made. Shows you that great style is not for sale.
February 9, 2010 at 4:27 pm
I love this look, he took the risk wearing these colors and he did it! The coat is amazing
February 9, 2010 at 4:30 pm
I love the shot. The combination of colors of the outfit, and also how you paired the horizontals of the background. It frames him so well.
February 9, 2010 at 4:33 pm
Lovely! PS: I am loving the mens pics and I am a woman. It's a refreshing change and, surprisingly, inspiring.
February 9, 2010 at 4:43 pm
Where can we find that coat??!?
February 9, 2010 at 4:46 pm
This is one of the best coats I've seen all winter. The print reminds me of a shirt I have, I feel inspired to wear it now!
Francielle da Maia
I like it!!!!

February 9, 2010 at 4:51 pm
Total look is fabulously fabulous. I would wear his coat if he would let me.
February 9, 2010 at 4:53 pm
I love his coat – the coloring, the cut, the jaunty way that he wears it, and the paisley print. I also like the framing of the photo, with the stairs and the building.
February 9, 2010 at 4:55 pm
the coat … the coat!
February 9, 2010 at 5:09 pm
I imagine it was to hard not to…great shot!
February 9, 2010 at 5:10 pm

I love his coat :)
February 9, 2010 at 5:19 pm
great color story!
February 9, 2010 at 5:27 pm
I love to put pictures of men.
February 9, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Please, please, please, keep the men's pics: this is what makes your blog so different and IMVHO one of the best. There is enough women's fashion going around!
I like that there is even more orange & brown than I first thought…

February 9, 2010 at 5:37 pm
J'aime tellement ce manteau, vraiment magnifiquement porté.Et très jolie photo, comme toujours!
February 9, 2010 at 5:39 pm
Oh wow, I love that — the pattern, the colors, even the grid effect of the wall and steps in the backgroundThanks so much for this photo!
February 9, 2010 at 5:42 pm
I hate orange! But I love this outfit!!!!
February 9, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Frock coat is charming, and the shoes look like they have been dipped in cocoa. So far so great. The rest isn't doing much for me, but so long as he's happy! Incidentally, he doesn't look happy.beingmanly: On shoes
February 9, 2010 at 5:51 pm
The paisley coat is beautiful. But the shoes are the subtle hero of this outfit.
February 9, 2010 at 5:58 pm
i desperately want that coat for myself.
February 9, 2010 at 6:02 pm
It's quite ok to be men's photo heavy, it think we're a market under served.
That is one amazing coat!
February 9, 2010 at 6:08 pm
im obsessed with the maroon shoes. they are awewsome. just bought myself some dark purple booties.

February 9, 2010 at 6:12 pm
Am loving that paisley trench…
February 9, 2010 at 6:18 pm
Not a huge fan of the coat. Love the bag, though.
February 9, 2010 at 6:29 pm
I actually wish you had MORE men's photos. I like to think of your blog as a look book. Being a man that means the women's photos, while lovely, don't suit my purposes at all. :)
February 9, 2010 at 6:46 pm
The coat, the coat!!The pattern is amazing, and the shoes look fantastic with it to. I love the hat.
February 9, 2010 at 6:48 pm
But he's wearing a paisley coat. How could you resist posting this one especially?
February 9, 2010 at 7:04 pm
I love the composition of this photo. That coat is pretty awesome, too.
February 9, 2010 at 7:21 pm
Gorgeous coat. Etro?

The Girl In The Purple Pants
February 9, 2010 at 8:43 pm
That coat is pure genius! I've never seen a man wearing a pattern like that, and it looks great!
February 9, 2010 at 8:50 pm
Extravagent coat! The hat and shoes really pull it together for me. Lovely ensemble, altogether.
February 9, 2010 at 8:52 pm
Truly a stunning photo. Yes – the guy is impeccably turned out. But the photo is, in and of itself, a beauty! The geometry in the background makes it powerful to me.
February 9, 2010 at 9:04 pm
go on with your bad self! men's fashion are equally fantastic as women's. If you think differently, just think YSL and "the tuxedo" ;)
February 9, 2010 at 9:10 pm
NO worries on too many guys photos, Scott! Gives us gentleman more ideas on our style!
February 9, 2010 at 9:26 pm
AMAZING! to say the least. This is well balanced and put together- all the right elements…..nice color contrasts and selection. The coat & the shoes really seals the deal for me… And the photography is great as well – nice background…… Damn. everything is great here…lol
February 9, 2010 at 9:46 pm
I love the composition of this shot. The light from an overcast day is perfect for the warm colours/patterns he is wearing and the metallic horizontal lines are right too.
February 9, 2010 at 9:55 pm
that bag is evil and must be destroyed – i'm thinking the brilliant coat is custom as well – thanks for all the men's shots – i'm finding them entirely valuable and inspiring

his coat is awesome and he has a very unique style. he sure knows how to dress! can't wait to see the pictures from NY fashion week. can almost imagine how fab they'd be!
February 9, 2010 at 10:33 pm
I want that coat!!!!Why do men in general smile less than women in the fashion photo's??? Any one have any thoughts on that one??Why not take photo's of men Scott they have just as much fashion sense as women and often are so over looked in market of fashion…
February 9, 2010 at 10:40 pm
I love the mens photos Sart, I really look forward to your Pitti Uomo shots
February 9, 2010 at 10:47 pm
Okay, this makes four. I love them all, and would give it all to see these photographs hanging next to each other in a gallery. What a lovely group of guys; different age, size, and look… but a continuity to these photos that is seamless. I love these pictures. On to fashion week, can't wait. You rock our world Scott!

February 10, 2010 at 2:47 am
but Sart, nobody takes men's fashion photo like yours! so just go on.
February 10, 2010 at 2:51 am
i've been wanting that exact sweater. But, I'm gonna wear mine with black wranglers and boots.
February 10, 2010 at 3:01 am
WOW! Great picture!! Great subject!! and I just love the way he matched the particular overcoat with his other so-basic and so-classic clothes!
February 10, 2010 at 3:22 am
My goodness, what a satisfying, masterly look that is. He offsets the flamboyant, dandy-esque jacket with these beige and gray (trousers) tones very coolly, and then adds the golden/bronze-olive manbag. I particularly love how the grey trousers, the golden of the bag and even the shoes don't match exactly with the rest. It's not too contrived and really works better than anything that would've been.
February 10, 2010 at 3:27 am
Awesome coat, especially for a man! But on him suits very well!
February 10, 2010 at 4:01 am
Wow, that coat is gorgeous!Such a stylish man!

There is silk road in there- something to learn from.
February 10, 2010 at 5:09 am
love love love the trench coat!
February 10, 2010 at 5:14 am
I love your men´s photos much better than the women….Perhaps because a real stylish man is as rare to find as a white raven. At least, where I live.
Also men´s style is much more effortless than women´s.
I am envy of you guys :-))
February 10, 2010 at 5:15 am
VERY nice coat.AND shoes.
February 10, 2010 at 5:16 am
That's so chic, love the whole outfit, specially the jacket! so elegant! thanks for your job scott, I really enjoy looking throug it.
February 10, 2010 at 5:36 am
February 10, 2010 at 5:42 am
That stair is very interesting, where was the picture taken???? It works so well as a backgroung and the materials and colours add texture in a quiet and unique way.
February 10, 2010 at 6:00 am
Just keep it steadily going, Scott!
Great shot once again…and what a marvellous coat he's wearing…the paisley pattern really makes the difference here.

February 10, 2010 at 9:00 am
the chaos of the paisleys against the order of the steps and slats is pretty pretty awesome.
what a compelling color story this chap has created as well. A+, Mister.
February 10, 2010 at 9:09 am
Those steps are a geezer weezer!! And this fellow does it with such elan in that WOW coat!! Autumn colors are da bomb!!
February 10, 2010 at 9:15 am

February 10, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Japanese people seem to have the right "look from the distance" on European clothes ! Always a touch of Kimono in the details – this time the pattern of the coat, another time a draped scarf or pullover, a short trouser, astonishing colour combinations and so on. Wonderful !
February 10, 2010 at 2:56 pm
Something tells me that every redhead in the universe who sees this picture will desperately want this coat. And many redheads-at-heart, too!
Beautiful picture. I love your menswear photos. I think, when it comes to having a truly original style, men have it tougher than women do: They have to work a little harder and be a little braver. I love seeing how the small, seemingly random choices a guy makes here and there — say, the number of inches of shirt cuff he allows to peek out from the sleeve of a jacket — can make a big difference.
So: More men, not fewer! (Though I of course love the women's photos too.)
February 10, 2010 at 3:31 pm
Wow what a beautiful coat <3 Great shot!!
February 10, 2010 at 4:05 pm
love the photo… the lines of the stairs and wall are brilliant, as is this guys hat and coat… and you cant fault a guy with a man-bag!
February 10, 2010 at 4:51 pm
Don't worry, we love men.
February 10, 2010 at 6:25 pm
Very classy – but the bag looks a bit too sporty for the rest of the outfit!
February 10, 2010 at 7:17 pm
February 10, 2010 at 8:06 pm
love the architecture around him… the horizontal lines r sooo cool…love the coat too
February 11, 2010 at 12:16 am
That Paisley Topcoat is amazing!
February 11, 2010 at 12:38 am
brown and orange photos are great. men are great. dont ever stop documenting them. what i love is that its men from a mans eye, and i must say you manage to capture a beautiful sensitivity. i have really enjoyed the recent posts, because of this. I think what you are sharing is more important than people may realise, fashion is so much more than just fashion. I also like these images because they are not frothy or macho, rather, they are strong and gentle and so necessary
February 11, 2010 at 1:09 am
I love this man.
February 11, 2010 at 2:08 am
Coat is amazing!! Serioulsy one of the best posts in a while!! I would have never thought of a paisley print on a mac coat, but its sick!!!
February 11, 2010 at 2:26 am
I love this man and i love his coat!
February 11, 2010 at 7:55 am
I love this coat. Just one word: unique
February 11, 2010 at 8:21 am
For some reason, this keeps reminding me of Will Smith's inside-out uniform jacket from the Fresh Prince:
The Hype Around...
February 11, 2010 at 11:50 am
Au contriare! You can NEVER have enough photos of well dressed fashion foward and classically stylish men! I'll be leaving today to check out Fashion Week in NYC. Keep it up, this stuff is great!
February 11, 2010 at 1:13 pm
heavy on men?no! that's great. It's so refreshing to see them a little more.
February 11, 2010 at 3:07 pm
Love his coat! In those shades it doesn't come across as being too busy.
February 11, 2010 at 9:13 pm

Lovin' the coat.
February 13, 2010 at 7:12 am
Yes! This Guy Knows Clothes…you sharp!
February 14, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Very chic, great pic..the only fault i find is the buttons on the coat…a mother of pearl honey would be fab…
February 15, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Wonderful attempt, close but with some tweaking this overall look can be greatly improved. Kudos the woman who spotted the exactly the wrong hat…I recommend a wider brim less casual crown, a Borsalino of Italy has many that would stun the audience.
consider the man's body type, shoulder width, more rounded cranium. I have a few more criteria.
If ever in doubt visit Hatbox: A Modern Haberdashery. I'm Lauri Turner 36 years in the business, I always enjoy working with people who care about hats!Hatbox.com Austin,Texas.
February 15, 2010 at 7:20 pm
Great coat! Menswear designers take note: Men are more likely to wear a "wildly" patterned coat than a wildly patterned suit.
February 20, 2010 at 4:25 pm
The coat is a Mackintosh! :p
March 19, 2010 at 2:19 pm
I love the jacket too but you should see the material on my nine year old couch, even better(NOT JOKING. Of course the print is on a diffent fabric but the color and design are exactly the same. If I saw him on the street I may have yelled, "Hey, bring ring back my couch!" I do love it though.
May 12, 2010 at 1:31 am
What a fantastic jacket – love the continuation of the colour in his shoes.
June 11, 2010 at 7:24 pm
How do you find these people? This is a very interesting combination!
