January 31, 2010 at 4:11 pm
So hip,cool & funky!!!!
I assume they are part of the same family. It makes me wonder if style is, somehow, a genetic trace…

Those boys need to come to America and teach our men how to dress! Either that or I'm moving to Milano! :P
January 31, 2010 at 4:19 pm
I'm digging those bell bottoms, and the guy on the right looks like a classical sculpture that's come to life.

Le garçon à gauche est superbe. J'aime tout chez lui. Mention spéciale pour le blouson.
January 31, 2010 at 4:21 pm
The two boys look okay but are you sure about the lady?

Mr Sart. I remember when I was backpacking around Europe in 1987 (sheesh I'm an oldie) and arriving in Italy and feeling soooo shabby cos EVERYONE is gorgeous and so well put together. Just like these three. Love the jacket with the gold buttons especially.
January 31, 2010 at 4:27 pm

January 31, 2010 at 4:41 pm
I have a one question, sometimes i walk around the city and see something exordinary beautiful clothes or piece of jewellery that someone wears, i usually just ask them where did they buy the items from. Do you do the same?
Thanks for taking you time to read this
Warm regards: Alexandra
January 31, 2010 at 4:46 pm
In descending order from left to right.. 1st guy looks really good, love the jacket (Moncler?)and the laid-back style. Second guy ok,great shoes but you know it wouldn't hurt you to smile. Or at least look like this is the last place on earth you want to be in. The mother(?) just looks like a tent. A monochrome, shapeless tent. Sorry.
January 31, 2010 at 4:48 pm
This is simply fabulous. I love the faces.
January 31, 2010 at 4:56 pm
I love the guys hair!!!!http://www.lifeasasketch.wordpress.com
Wow! I really love that double breasted jacket on the man to the left of the picture! It's definitely original and something I have never seen before! I also like the brown shoes or boots on the man in the middle! I have been searching for a pair just like that lately. His cardigan is also really chic. check out my trendy blog!http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/
January 31, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Nice. Mother and sons?
January 31, 2010 at 5:04 pm
Bellissima famiglia, sempre sulle strade di milano si puo trovare gente cosi ben vestita!
January 31, 2010 at 5:06 pm
A family of distinct personalities, somehow all in-tune with one another.
January 31, 2010 at 5:14 pm
of course. only in Milano….they mix preppy with chic and they do it so damn well. I love Italianos and Italy.
The puffer-peacoat kind of looks like the thom browne down filled sports coat. Only a bit more conservative, not in a bad way though! Does anybody know the maker of those coats?

January 31, 2010 at 5:41 pm
TOO PUFFY ! but very nice
January 31, 2010 at 5:47 pm
very cool!I think they're mr. MONCLER's family.I saw them on vanity fair italy…
they look like the italian jonas brothers! but more laid back of course. also- I have to add a comment regarding the picture of kanye west you posted the other day. Love him or hate him, he matters, and he's involved in the style world. The over the top fur was perfect I thought.
January 31, 2010 at 5:48 pm
style is one thing but a bit of a smile goes a long way.
January 31, 2010 at 5:49 pm
This family is so Milano, so chic. I think the guy on the left and his mother are both wearing Moncler. Such a great label, very European and always adds an air of effortless chic to an outfit.
January 31, 2010 at 5:54 pm
THE REAL MONCLER FAMILY
January 31, 2010 at 6:00 pm
I think the jacket on the left is Gamme Bleu by Thom Browne… Great line he is doing for Moncler…
January 31, 2010 at 6:03 pm
This is what happens when generations pass on wonderful taste, style and confidence. I absolutely love this photo.
January 31, 2010 at 6:15 pm
if that is a family i am jealous+want in
January 31, 2010 at 6:30 pm
The blue jacket is very nice, but I don't each look anything special, but as a family (I suppose they are) they are very to see.
January 31, 2010 at 6:41 pm
they are the two sons and the wife of the owner of Moncler..
January 31, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Buck up you Milanese! (?)
you just got shot by Sart!
Not the least bit self conscious – they seem like almost accidental great dressers but I don't believe that for a second!

The guys curly hair is stealing my little heart!
January 31, 2010 at 6:52 pm
TOUCH CLASS FAMILY. very very good.singular and elegant boys and mother
January 31, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Wow! I don't generally comment on your photos but this one struck me so much that I simply had to. I suppose it's because most of your photos are utterly beautiful, but so very fantastic and removed from my life that I find it difficult to draw any inspiration from them.
This photo, on the other hand, is immediately inspiring. Not only is a brilliant example of casual Italian style (yeeeeah, Italian fashion editors in sky high heels look beautiful but they also make me despair), and I feel like I could learn something from each of them just by looking at all the little details they've added to their outfits to give them a little extra interest. From the hair to the shoes, I feel like every time I look at this photo I see new things. A definite favourite! I only wish the photo were even bigger so I could see even MORE details!
January 31, 2010 at 7:02 pm
I love all of their jackets and the boys' hair is amazing!!!
January 31, 2010 at 7:09 pm
I hope we're all admiring those tartan looking boot/shoes effortlessly executed stlye
January 31, 2010 at 7:28 pm

January 31, 2010 at 7:36 pm
I don't think I would look that upset with two beautiful and beautifully dress boys at my side!In love with loverboy on the left. I want a quilted, Michelin Man navy jacket with glorious gold buttons :)
January 31, 2010 at 7:37 pm
OK, I can do this look. I have done this look. Without the brooding.
(BTW, you can get pretty close to the look of the brown shoes on the man in the middle with Sperry Topsiders.)
January 31, 2010 at 7:54 pm
Excellent shoes on the gentleman in the middle.
January 31, 2010 at 8:00 pm
What a fashionable trio — genetically linked perhaps? I like that they're not smiling. Love the cutie's jacket on the left and the woman's big bag and flared trousers.
I like the peacoat with golden button, so gorgeous. And it's very cool that friends are with all black jackets walking on the street.
January 31, 2010 at 8:03 pm
Unlike Americans, everything fits–not loose, baggy, and unkempt.
January 31, 2010 at 8:18 pm
They are they so sad! Love the middle man's shoes!
January 31, 2010 at 8:23 pm
And the kick is, some of these young dudes put together a look on very little money thanks to places like Coin and Upim and the anonymous little mom and pop clothing shops that abound in Milano. Gorley
January 31, 2010 at 8:29 pm
She is a stunning representation of a "real" mom. Beautiful just as she is. Ready for the day, a day out with two charming men. Perhaps amazing boys that may have caused a sleepy night or two times two.dealshoppingmom

Italians have such wonderful natural panache and are fascinating people. I spent some time there 20 years ago & have never forgotten it.

January 31, 2010 at 10:46 pm
This photo sums up everything I miss about living in Milan!
January 31, 2010 at 10:51 pm
The men are wearing interesting shoes. The one on the left has an interesting peacoat style quilted or perhaps down jacket which I have not seen before. The momma's bag almost looks like a new style barrister's bag.
February 1, 2010 at 12:00 am
Ooooh! I love the flares!xx
February 1, 2010 at 12:05 am
Mod Paul is right – The blue jacket is Moncler – Thom Browne's 2009 Gamme Bleu collection
The Hype Around...
February 1, 2010 at 12:39 am
I love the casual elegance of their style. It seems so natural, not forced at all.
February 1, 2010 at 12:40 am
the leftmost guy has the perfect trophy jacket. he looks the best; classic, crisp, and sophisticated!!
February 1, 2010 at 2:23 am
The shoes on the middle man are amazing!
Love this photo!!
February 1, 2010 at 3:19 am
cute stylish family :)
February 1, 2010 at 3:31 am
They're casual but very elegant inside!
they are a good family, casual morning style.
February 1, 2010 at 3:45 am
Great shot, nothing outrageous about any of the outfits but as a complete frame all eye catching.
February 1, 2010 at 3:50 am
February 1, 2010 at 3:53 am
Are they somehow connected with Moncler as stated in the previous comments????They all wear Moncler jackets… Gamme bleu on the left and gamme rouge on the right!
February 1, 2010 at 4:57 am
Most of all, I think this supposed family has a stylish attitude, they don't really care If someone thinks their stylish and that's what I believe you saw in them.
February 1, 2010 at 4:59 am
The double breasted coat looks like a Moncler Blue label collection
February 1, 2010 at 5:47 am
VERY VERY VERY CHIC!!!
February 1, 2010 at 6:02 am
EINAI TROMEROIII!! TOYS AGAPOO!!!XXX
February 1, 2010 at 6:28 am
They have natural style. They don't look like they agonize in front of the mirror.
Who made her bag? I want one.
February 1, 2010 at 6:40 am
Oh yeah! GREAT PICTURE – quite sociologically oriented…I bet she is "mamma italiana" with her two adult sons (however – for her – still little cute boys ;p, of course spoiled by her overwhelming love:D)…Their poses, their style, their subtle but visible individuality created in wardrobe details are wonderful. I do still think, when comparing Italy to France that French are more "bcbg" and Italians are better in "casual / everyday" elegance / paying attention to be always aesthetically perfect.

February 1, 2010 at 9:34 am
uhm..at first glance I thought "are those the Jonas Brothers"..didn't let that 1st impression stop me from loving the gold buttoned peacoat, plaid adorned shoes and that bag..that bag…
February 1, 2010 at 10:25 am
this is the second fashionable puff coat I've seen posted. who makes such a gem? anyone know?
February 1, 2010 at 11:11 am
How very youthful the boys look! So European…sophisticated..and deep/ Great!
February 1, 2010 at 11:20 am
Great family portrait — you can almost imagine juxtaposing a few of the style elements and this photo could have been taken in the 50's!
February 1, 2010 at 1:49 pm
I think I saw them the same day in Milan!! How funny!! It was about two weeks ago, they all looked simple and very elegant..
February 1, 2010 at 1:50 pm
EVERYONE, THAT IS THE THOM BROWNE FOR the ski wear company. I saw that jacket at Bergdorfs and it was some 4000 dollars. It looks good on him but I'm 6'3 and it was too short for me. Cool to see the american designer doing well in italy.
February 1, 2010 at 2:08 pm
Beautiful people…often times I am more captured by the people's faces that you photograph than the clothes/fashions that they are wearing…you have an amazing gift!
February 1, 2010 at 2:17 pm
italian style !!!!
February 1, 2010 at 3:39 pm
Maybe someone could know the name of the middle's man shoes ?
February 1, 2010 at 3:46 pm
This is Madame Ruffini(Moncler owner) and sons. Really kind women and with high touch of class.
February 1, 2010 at 3:51 pm
Very cool family.
February 1, 2010 at 5:07 pm
I think they could only be italian! The boys outshine their mum style-wise. They all look great but loving the one of the left most (that jacket!)
February 1, 2010 at 5:58 pm
Hey, but You have snapped the family of Mr. Moncler, Mr. Remo Ruffini!Wife and sons…
February 1, 2010 at 8:13 pm
Everyone always said to me before I went to Italy how well dressed people were. And don't get me wrong, they were. In a classic, traditional and tasteful way. But the monotony of the outfits was disappointing. This photo reminds me of that because these folks are wearing what 90% of people wear in Italy. (Puffy jacket for the young guys…check!) After a while I yearned for more individualism. I hope you can find and catch some of that in your Italy photos, Scott.
February 2, 2010 at 12:33 am
i like their attitudes, i think they're one of the rare ones you've shot that showed a 'cool' expression… lol… :)
February 2, 2010 at 2:16 am
So Italian!…pass me a cigarette

February 2, 2010 at 5:31 am
great real mum shot. love it. i see myself here. jacket that works 'cause it's cold. scarf. no lipstick. unfussy hair. i'm still loving flares! boots! & it just looks great. downplayed, real, unfussy & chic. love the look that says, 'yes take the photo, but i've got to get moving with my day'.and that bit of determination that's brought up two lovely stylish young men.
February 2, 2010 at 7:54 am
I love how comfy she looks, as if she just wanted to be home… so she threw on her old fabulously stylish classics
February 2, 2010 at 10:04 am
Perfect family, Perfect style!!!
February 2, 2010 at 11:06 am
that coat would absolutely qualify as being an "updated classic"
February 2, 2010 at 11:03 pm
I love Moncler outwear!
February 2, 2010 at 11:05 pm
the curly hair and the marvelous caramel coloring along with the simple style and great taste for the details. I'm digging it! beautiful!
February 3, 2010 at 7:26 am
I wish mom would have put on a different coat, but the boys are delicious :)))
February 3, 2010 at 10:08 am
Thank you Anonymous 5:58! Was just about to write the same…. they are outfitted superbly in Moncler (makes sense doesn't it?) And I just returned from Milano and it's freezing. The mom's jacket may look tentlike but with some style, no? I bet she is so warm…. Much better style than some of the acrylic fleeces I see around DC.
February 3, 2010 at 1:57 pm
wow !!!! she's very elegant
February 3, 2010 at 5:39 pm
elegant elegant elegant…thank you
February 4, 2010 at 5:17 am
What always amazes me the most it is not the clothes, but your talent to capture 'the soul'. This people could easily be the characters of Vermeer's paintings.
February 5, 2010 at 9:28 am
I have those Aldo shoes to the left!
February 5, 2010 at 6:27 pm
