The mystery is enhanced by the lights. Wonderful picture!

Reminds me of Morocco, circa 1993.

So mysterious. Into what dark passageway is she entering?
May 21, 2014 at 10:39 am
Lovely. I wonder if the scarf is just worn for weather or if she is a Muslim woman wearing it to cover her hair. Can’t go wrong with a pink coat and white.
May 21, 2014 at 11:10 am
I always think that women under the scarf should be quite pretty. I met some friends who are Islamic. They wear really trendy under the scarf.

Really cool shot! Love it

Nice pic. Beautiful and simple style about to step into the dark unknown.
May 21, 2014 at 2:45 pm
What a beautiful shot. Still, but dynamic. Love the lighting!

A image full of sensuality… because sensual is not nude.

Great example of “how to bend light.”

Italy? It looks like the middle east or africa.
May 23, 2014 at 7:25 pm
And in comes the racism. So what’s this again about Italians not being racist? *sarcasm* Typical.

I love the coat and shoes’ textures. They make the outfit really modern.
And the stone floor complements it beautifully.

How beautiful to carry your faith with timeless sense of fashion.

Beautiful light and her palette is wonderful. Pink gold and neutrals – yum, Makes a nice change from all the bare legs. I’m dreading the annual arrival of the denim nappies.
May 23, 2014 at 7:01 am
Beautiful photo. I love how you can’t really tell if it’s a woman in a hijab or just a woman deciding to cover her hair.
May 23, 2014 at 7:29 pm
Unfortunately, here seem to be quite a few people on here making preconceived notions about this woman. And they know who they are on here.

A Sun Ra in Egypt feeling there. Or on the moon.

The mystery of this image drew me in. Where is she going? The strong contrast. The vibrancy of colour contrasting with no colour. yummy food for imagination. Thank you for this post.

For me, it is an artistic photograph. Thanks for sharing with us.
May 26, 2014 at 12:57 pm

I’m amazed by the lack of fanfare around this photo – I think it is one of the better images I have seen on your blog since the publishing of the first book, Scott. It actually reminds me a lot of your old work. Mystery, subtlety, contrast, a little peeka-boo this and that. Wonderful!
