the cut had a video of her and her closet just like a day or two ago. this look was in the video. it was only time before she was photographed wearing it. funny how the video also mentioned the sartorialist
I can't remember where I read about ADR where she talked about how carefully planned her looks are during fashion week. Judging by this coat and sunglasses, I think she lied.
Such a cool and fun coat! And picture! LOL at the way the guy in at the back/right looks at the coat, fun to see a real life response! (even if he's not buying…)
I do not really like this look. The pairing of the extreme coat with the shiny boots….eh..these textures seem a bit like a lady of the night or an exotic dancer on break. Not an elegant look for a lady of her maturity.
wow! what an interesting coat. this woman is definitely more brave than I could ever wish to be…and she matched the coat with the clutch! the little details…
a lovely photograph as well; the lighting makes it seem as if she walked right out of a gate from the sky or something equally magical.
i love your pictures… and i am so in love with these stella mc cartney boots!!! please tell me where i can find them, they seem to have dissapeared!! did i tell you i love your pictures????
There's so much going on here: Fuschia-colored muppet coat, bejeweled clutch, awesome leather boots… and, is that a golf bag on the right? I've got the same expression on my face as brotha with the camera. Great photo.
i don't like this outfit, i hate pink with a passion, but the shot is beautiful and the bravery for wearing this has to be merited. Plus what makes it for me is the guys expression in the background, he doesn't look too impressed.
did i just see a pair of very sexy leather black OTK boots paired with a very elegant furry coat? she has an awesome style. i'd love to dress like her when i'm older.
Holy Moly thats one hell of a coat! I LOVE it! And her fabulously sparkly clutch. But what makes it all the more brilliant is her chic nonchalance contrasted with the pure intrigue on the face of the man with the camera. He seems so captured by her that he has forgotten whatever it was that he was about to photograph in the first place. Thank you for brightening the landscape.
Avant garde style is definitely appreciated at all times – but what really makes this picture great is the guy's face in the background holding the camera!
The outfit is visually powerful & it takes someone w/ a strong personality to carry the look off. Yet somehow the whole thing leaves me cold. It shouts "Money. Polish. I'm so unaffected." I suppose I just prefer a little light-heartedness in fashion.
I love fashion as much as the rest of you, but someone needs to take a critical stance on this.
Not only do I dislike this look, but I think it is a failure on many levels. ADR is a savant in many ways, but this ( I think) qualifies as shock for shock's sake. Do the lines work? Ok, maybe … but the palate just kills them. Is there anything about this as an aesthetic composition that makes it transcend the elements which constitute it? Despite the shock value, the answer is no. It's bold, daring, fierce, aggressive—sure. But does it look good? Honestly, no. The lines of the glasses, shoulders, waste, and boots are interesting. But, ultimately, they don't work. ADR's stance on runway and street fashion is admirable; but this is not an example of a successful crossover.
It is important that people who give thought to this kind of thing have the courage and conviction to say: nice, but no. This is bold, but that is very different from good. And this is not that. It's bad … so let's say it without feeling guilty.
lol, i'm loving the way the man behind is staring at Anna. That coat was used at an editorial but I would have never imagined it would make an appearance in public!
I am by no means a wallflower, but this coat requires more kahones than what I have. She looks fabulous. Her confidence is what helps her pull off this look.
Great coat…I don't understand what the big deal is though, it shouldn't take balls to wear something like this, what's so earth shattering about a little pop of color? The funny thing is though, it is so rare to see a grown woman wear something like this that the hair and makeup she's wearing do look a bit out of place (ie, conservative) with the coat. A (subtle?) Kate Pearson beehive or an asymmetrical shaved cut and cat eye glasses or vintage ray bans might look less incongruous with this look given that…but I like it anyway.
I'm on the defense….. It's a great look don't get me wrong but I'm sorry I'm not hating but she's serving too much, especially for her age. It's a bold statement but she's a little too old for that look. And what's with the glasses!?!
That probably was the place and time for that coat. I hope. I love how she carries it. No big deal. It's fuchsia shock alright. The equivalent of a field of crocuses. Spring!
Think we all can agree in unison that the guy in the back with the camera is the star of this shot!
:) Love his look too, and it just goes to show you (as we've all noticed him in the back of the shot) that you don't need to wear a bright gorilla coat to be noted and remembered :)
Girlfriend's way too `ol to be wearing this sort of gear.
I cannot get enough of this look! From the moment I saw this coat, I associated it with her, and she is rocking it here like no other!
The ageist/sexist comments make me sad. They buy into the idea that women have an expiration date, which is awful on so many levels. Anna has earned the right to wear whatever makes her happy. And she looks good! Haters, WHATEV.
But back to this look. My favorite part is the sparkly clutch! Never change, ADR!

Although ADR exists to garner attention, her very M.O. is antithetical to this site. She's got the money and connections to buy and/or be gifted all the STUFF that even rich party people don't get near.
She, in effect, is a one-woman rigged game. I thought the Sartorialist was about the accessible and clever. There's nothing clever about raiding couturier houses and wearing lots of outrageous stuff.
Anna is like the embodiment of style and fashion. Pulling off hot pink outerwear without breaking a sweat… LOVE HER! She's totally the new Carine/Anna Wintour haha
SUPERB. I have no words for her outfits. :D Look at the man in the back. He looks like he's thinking about taking a picture, but he seems like he actually prefers looking at her! :D
This is a very interesting photo and it has something to say fashion and its perhaps-too-dedicated followers. But maybe that is your point.
About age, the problem I think is not the lady´s age. The problem to my mind is that the hair, jewelry, makeup, sunglasses screams conservative italian matron of a certain age and make the poor coat look totally lost. Those earrings particularly push it, in my mind at least, all the way to vulgar.
Fantastic colour ! Now this is what I call style & daring. I really love how you captured the look on the photographer behind her (in the Easterner part of the picture).
Dear Scott, After doing research, getting to know who this lovely woman is and exactly what she does for a living, I come back with my opinion without "twisting the knife". She is without a doubt, a very hard working "devoted to everything fashion" woman. Everyday of her life is spent creating ways to bring fashion to al of us, including the everyday person. She wears the Haunte Couture beautifully and changes her look throughout the day to suit her own feelings as well as her followers. She looks great, and I apologize for being catty.
I love how confident she looks while wearing it. I adore the coat but know that I would be constantly worried about who was looking at me for wearing it… which would make it not so fun (for me) to wear.
Also, the blast of color is just what everyone needs in this dreary winter weather.
You folks who alluded to the muppets are not far off.
I agree with the commentators who feel that ADR's outfit is purely designed to shock and draw attention (which makes sense for biz reasons — definitely promotes D&G). I also couldn't say it any better than the poster who said "this is fashion, but this isn't really style." I share, too, the sentiments of a couple of posters who remarked that the "Italian matron" hairstyle and accessories don't jibe with the look. Yeh — the folks who can afford avant-garde haute couture aren't necessarily those who pull it off well.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but I feel like the reflection in her glasses makes the whole image. Obviously the photo needs the pink coat, but there's always got to be a second secret element that makes it; the colorful geometric reflection is like getting a glimpse at the world she lives in.

This post is definitely designed to provoke. LOL
"…A very expensive dust mop…", indeed.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but I feel like the reflection in her glasses makes the whole image. Obviously the photo needs the pink coat, but there's always got to be a second secret element that makes it; the colorful geometric reflection is like getting a glimpse at the world she lives in.
