It’s a pity age had to be mentioned, don’t you think?
I enjoy the defiantly twisted scarf and the confidence of wearing this yes-Prada-but-still-unusual-gingham-and-fur combination. It feels like like a new take on a 1950s look. Chic, neat, gorgeous.
Great style. I love the way this lady wrapped her scarf leaving strands of hair showing. For some reason, she makes me think of Garbo. Very glamorously mysterious.
RESPECT! This woman, and Scott’s wonderful photograph, speak chapter and verse on the essence of what we- often too casually- refer to as “style”. Thank you both for this extraordinary and inspiring vision!
Inspiring woman of my age!!! She totally owns that look. Great style and not disguised to look younger…….Keeping it modern and fresh for the season. BRAVO to her and to you Scott for appreciating her.
She’s the modern art collector, right? She is beautifully turned out, but definitely looks like someone you wouldn’t want to cross. There is a perceptible edge in her expression and posture..
Who is the woman any way????
She is stunning!!! And her outfit is telling a story.
And I want to know the story.
I would love to see more women dressed uniquely and stylish like that on the street.
Bravo to everybody who is bold and one of a kind like this lady!
Thank you Scott!!
this elegant woman, timeless, stylish and above all, amazingly nice is called Marie D, mixing humility, style, charm, generosity, intelligence, and joie de vivre. that’s the formula for elegance, Marie ticks all the boxes.
She IS awesome. But she must also be very wealthy. Maybe that doesn’t matter, after all there are plenty of extremely rich people who dress badly and of course one should always applaud such creativity, boldness and taste as this beautiful woman displays. Maybe I am envious. But I can’t help but feel it is just a little easier to look good when one has plenty of money…
Scott, it’s a great shot of this wonderfully stylish woman :-) and she is such a refreshing inspiration to all women.
It seems that a while ago you included many more stylish mature women on your blog, so I’m wondering if there’s now less presence of them on the street or perhaps there’s a perception that no-one is interested in them?
Ciao, Linda. xx
I like the interesting mixture of elegance, thoughtlessness and (maybe) that sort of self-mockery. I prefer this coat weared by this lady that by many young, pale and sad Prada’s models.
I was looking on line, for M.Kivatizky a photographer in Paris sometime in the 20′s 30′s who took a photo of my grandfather whom I never met…and this site popped up…sooo I think the woman looks beautiful…I love the outfit, I love her lipstick and the oversized glasses…the woman looks pulled together..that anyone would remark about her age, and they dont like this and blah blah blah is so American…where everyone (Iam an American) so harshly judges people…you cant please everyone…so Iam glad shes doing her own thing…good for you…and remember ageing well is the best revenge…

Sure, but why is a woman’s age always so noteworthy? Plenty of older gents feature here too.
roelien
March 31, 2014 at 5:46 am
I suppose that is exactly the reason why: we don’t see women over fifty featured on this here blog quite as often as we see men over fifty.
I love this forty’s-but-contemporary look. It suits her well. I’m almost tempted to overlook the fur, for once… Thanks for an inspiring image.

There are so many older men on the site, but very few older women. When there are, it’s really noteworthy. We need more so that we notice it less!
