Nicely said, Patrick! I love the coat & think the shoes could be cool with a pair of old jeans (preferably without socks), but in combination, the whole ends up less than the sum of its parts.

The shoes looked like post-operative shoes worn after bunion surgery…with a little glitter. Fashion takes a cue from the hospital??

    • Emma

      March 20, 2014 at 7:09 am

Absolutely, it reminds of the lame attempts at “glamorizing” anti-Xrays surgical aprons of my friend’s team : they did it in leopard. Eww !

The funniest side of thos comments saying it looks good is only because those shoes are worn by someone belonging to the fashion world, in a way it validates these shoes.

Had they seen them on girl from the hood, on on a girls in TV reality show, it would have been perceived as tacky or wors

My co-worker who had a skiing accident is wearing the boot version of this, but without the pretty little gold ring ;) I’m always interested in the looks that go for cool or fashionable or novel instead of “pretty” (how I tend to veer in my own fairly safe choices). It’s kind of cool.

If those are socks (the black foot & gold band around the ankle), I kind of dig them. Not with the sandals (though those look incredibly comfortable), but they would be smashing with some short boots.

Orthopedic shoes on a different level. Love the pattern on the coat.

It’s amazing what a pair of scissors, gold duct tape and a little glitter will do to give new purpose to a baroque-print bathroom rug and orthopedic shoes…

As the saying goes: “Le ridicule ne tue pas.” Hasn’t yet at least.

I had a stress fracture and they gave me a shoe just like that. Unfortunately they only gave me one, or I could have bedazzled them and walked the streets of New York and ended up on a street style blog. If only I had fractures in both feet. Not fair!!!

There seems to be an outbreak in Paris of comfortable shoes. Long may it reign.

    March 19, 2014 at 9:44 pm

Personally, love the coat, hate the shoes. But it doesn’t matter. You called it exactly. This is Fashion. The people make fashion, not the designers. Only if it is worn on the street can it be fashionable. Not on the runway, not in the magazines; on the street.

Oh wow. This is just … bad. Not everything that comes from Paris or is being currently shown on the runways of the world is really worth, um, anything [buying - following - looking at, even]. In Poland there is this “fashion pet peeve”, flip flops teamed up with socks. Everyone makes fun of this, it’s simply hideous. Yet you people from fashion industry tend to make this sad tendency [?] into a trend nowadays. How it happens I’ll never understand.

    • Martine

      March 21, 2014 at 10:52 am

Incorporating athletic, ordinary things like gym socks, shower slippers, and runner tennis shoes with fancy dress is not being done by “just fashion people”. I think the look can survive people in Poland not liking it. This is certainly crazy, but crazy and pushing the envelope ARE certainly worth looking at, and in many ways are preferable to a mountain of tasteful, subtle, done before looks. Not saying I am going to turn my sofa into shorts just now….but its cool that he’s doing this. VERY cool.

        March 25, 2014 at 12:24 pm

For crying out loud, you see this as something “never done before”? … But it’s been done constantly for years and years, by people all over the world. And not because them people were being amazingly creative, no. Long story short : creativity in fashion/artistic and personal touch/’weirdness’ even – soooo longed for. One rule: if something is to be weird – new- exclusive, it should turn out as such in a natural way. Trying haaaard to be “different” just because being “different” is so in right now [ loads of people end up "strikingly different" in an absolutely identic way] – not cool at all; totally uninteresting, too.
