A bit too “claustrophobic” for my taste. Makes me itch all over.

He’s lovely, but I think I know what you mean, Sevan–I have a visceral dislike of tight sweaters over button-front shirts. Were the sweater a size larger he’d look really fantastic.

agree, and tuck the shirt in while you’re at it! Tie your shoe laces, and adjust your pants!

Sorry, but I really would like it better, and think it a great look, with the shirt tucked in!

While many of your “models” look great, the cigarettes so many are holding tells me we won’t be seeing them all that long.
Too bad. Style. Short Life. Bummer combination.

    March 15, 2014 at 10:56 pm

    Blue turtleneck, deep blue jeans.
He had to leave the white shirt untucked and popping through the collar and beyond the sleeves to break up all that blue….

  37. Rebecca

    March 16, 2014 at 7:01 am

I hate turtlenecks because they make me feel like I”m wearing a hot water bottle but this, this is pretty good. He really nails his fit doesn’t he? Even though his boots probably never leave paving the whole messed-with classics thing is just so nicely judged. I can’t run away with him though because of the cigarette ; )

This looks silly to me. Each piece is great on its own, but the popped collar under a slightly too-small turtleneck is trying to hard, in my opinion.

    March 17, 2014 at 9:40 pm

Nothing against wearing a turtleneck over a collared shirt although it seems like a bit of overkill. I would say that showing some neck would have made this guy’s proportions better.

  46. Ike

    March 18, 2014 at 4:02 pm

Like the “turtle neck over the collard shirt” look but this would have been a better look with a darker wash of jean, maybe black (blue and black, I know, but I think it would look awesome here :-p) or at least a better fit of denim. Too baggy and I don’t like the messy boot look. I think that’s what throws this off for me.

Why do most of Italians turn extremely elegant as they grow old? I don’t like men much older than me but when I see that kind of mature Italians I feel gerontophilic!
Note that he wears completely plain clothes and shoes. And hairstyle might look ridiculous in most people. It’s just that every cloth layer and hair has been carefully messed up. I bet that it was an hours long job in front of the mirror, or it’s just a superpower Italians get when they turn 50.

The man is handsome, but he definitely layers the wrong way round: A turtleneck belongs underneath the button-up shirt, the latter tucked into jeans and buttoned to the second button from the top – then he would look gorgeous. I would not even mind if he buttoned the shirt all the way up.

Raised collar? Here in Italy we regard it as so Nineties…

Absolutely love the shirt underneath. Gives sort of a ‘messy’ feeling to it and the color of the turtle neck is perfect
